“1973 Jeep CJ5 * Does not run * Jeep was parked in my garage and has not been started for 25 years. Ran great when parked, but over time fuel lines cracked. Was going to restore it, but never got around to it. Fuel tank was pulled years ago. Engine wiring needs to be repaired/replaced I purchased the Jeep in 1987. Engine, transmission and transfer box were all professionally rebuilt in the mid 90s. Never put more than 20k miles on them, after rebuild. Details engine: 258 straight 6 4 speed manual transmission GMC steering column w/ power steering 4″ suspension lift 2″ body lift 6 point roll cage 12lb warn winch Volvo leather seats GMC seat belts”

TJ found this nice looking L-161 for sale. Though it is picture with a tranny, tc, and OD, it sounds like only the bell housing goes with the engine.

“Running L-161 flathead engine. I believe it’s from a 1951 Jeepster. It has been reliable, runs well and doesn’t smoke. It’s bolted to a T90 and that bell housing will go with the engine. I will be keeping the starter and alternator, but everything else goes with it. The exhaust manifold has either been modified or repaired at the pipe flange, I can’t tell what the purpose was, but it bolts up to my CJ2a. It’s still in the Jeep and I can show it running. I’ll pull it when I have a buyer. $900 obo or trade for a running L134.”

“1953 Willys CJ3A. No engine, had a ford 4cyl. I believe it has a GPW body going by the fuel tank filling under the driver’s seat , rear toolbox’s on fenders and no tailgate. Has been modified with a storage space under the windshield. Homemade lift shackles on the springs. Not in bad shape for its age. Clear Wyoming title. Sold as is. I do have a fresh rebuilt iron duke engine for sale for an additional charge.”
This has a rare 0-9 King Seeley speedometer. The flat fender next to it looks to have an MB or GPW body (does not appear to be for sale). Thanks to TJ for sharing.

“Lots of extra Jeep’s lotta extra parts”
Sadly, I lost this auction, mostly because I was busy with Ann’s newest raised bed garden (almost finished). Anyway, it appears a bidding war boosted this rare issue to $40 and change. Thankfully, the seller published photos of all the pages.
This issue contains a little mini brochure in the middle titled “Used Car Salesbuilder, a Common Sense Review”, which might have been related to the 1950 ongoing “Willys Makes Sense” ad campaign.
Note the ad for what looks-to-be an Al-toy wagon on the last page.
The price is $99 or Best Offer. Given these include serial numbers, maybe one or more of these vehicles is still around?

“Original 1950 & 1951 Jeep Willys Sales Orders Reciepts Lot Of 21 w/ VIN NUMBERS.”
This first receipt is for a 1951 CJ-3A #GB1-13591, motor #3J-63567.
This next one is for a 1950 Willys Station Wagon 4-73 #473SW-16751 with motor #P19118. Looking at the VIN records for 1950, it appears this would have been a sedan delivery model. Note that payment included the trade-in of a 1947 station wagon.
This receipt is for a 1950 station wagon #673SW-12848 and motor #1S-14109. The receipt includes the trade-in of a 1940 Chevy station wagon.
This receipt is for a 1951 CJ-3A #GB1-11975 and motor #3J-62439. The deal included the trade-in of a 1947 CJ-2A.
The seller wants $59 for this, which seems a bit crazy, but the reason these photos caught my eye is that they show DJ-3A Galas crossing entering (crossing?) the water. Unclear whether this was for fun, for experience or a purpose. It may be some kind of beach-based road that floods at high tide? No description provided.

This unusual ad appeared in a Buffalo Auto Show program in 1955. The CJ-3B was only two years old at this point, yet doesn’t make the cut for the ad. Clearly the emphasis was on the CJ-5.

(09/2127/2023) Jeep Cab-over Coca-Cola Delivery Truck—AII original beautiful delivery truck in new condition; complete with Coca Cola accessories including a cooler; rarely driven as part of the owners antique truck collection but runs and drives great; all parts in working order; very low mileage and paint and interior condition as new. “It has a Buick 350 swapped into it, which runs surprisingly well. It has never failed to start, even after sitting for years at a time. It runs and drives, but needs steering attention and brakes redone. Body is in overall, decent shape. Top is in rough shape and is only on to protect from the elements. It has an original dash, and dash pad, along with a new steering column. There is no wiring, other than what is necessary to start the vehicle. It will come with a new wiring harness, from “Painless Performance”.”
