Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This appears to have a MB/GPW replacement body and a M-38 windshield. For some reason the windshield isn’t pulled tight to the cowl.

“1946 Willys CJ-2A, This is the first civilian jeep ever produced. It has the original 4cyl flathead engine, and is more or less original. This is a fun car to drive around town on a nice day or an unstoppable deer camp jeep. This thing is like a goat, it will climb over or go through anything without skipping a beat, especially with the new set of buckshot wide mudders I have on it.
First the bad: I was driving it about a month ago when the oil pressure went out and it died on my. I think it slipped a bearing but I am not positive. In short, it will probably need some degree of engine rebuild.
The good: These thing are extremely easy to work on and parts are readily available and relatively cheap. I can start the engine and you can hear it run, but it loses power under load so you can’t drive it around. I have replace the entire brake assembly (drums, shoes, master and wheel cylinders, etc…) and it was running good around town when the engine went out.

“Painted fire engine red, within the past few years, this vehicle is show stopping, head turning, beautiful old car. The vehicle is registered, insured and has a current New York State Motor Vehicle Inspection certificate. The dashboard gauges all work, and there’s room for an additional gauge.The vehicle is an everyday driver, and the 4 wheel drive mechanisms work well. The engine and transmission are GM V6 3.8 liter Chevy and GM stock 4 speed transmission respectively. There is a Hurst 4-speed gear shifter. Diamond plate on running boards, rear quarter and tailgate. Radio is installed, not presently working.I’ve taken this vehicle to weekend antique car shows, and it gets unending attention! “1948 Willys CJ 2A Complete body off Restoration. Less than 500miles since engine, transmition and tranfercase were rebuilt. Removed all rust by installing new panals as needed. Front and rear end have new seals and brakes. Jeep has been converted to power steering, and 12 volt electrical system. Has canvas and metal tops. Has a costom built roll cage, and front and rear bumpers with swing out tire carrier. New fuel tank. All 5 tires have less than 500 miles. Winch included with an additional $500.”

Alot of new parts( spark plugs, spark plug wires, points and condenser) all new brake system( master cylinder, brake shoes, wheel cylinders, brake lines, brake hoses and springs) runs really good and smooth also just had new starter put on! Upgrading to a yj and need the money to fix it up. Asking $2300 obo.”

This is a mix of parts.
“Time to sell my beloved project “Hatari”, I just can’t work on her anymore. What you are looking at is registered as a 1946 Willy’s Jeep, it is an early flat fender MJ body on what appears to be a later model (longer) frame probably from a 1955-1965 CJ or MJ? I have upgraded the brakes to 11″ in the front and 10″ in the back, she runs and drives. Does she have rust, you might ask? YES! which is why she’s strategically surrounded by a ‘beautifully’ crafted aluminum diamond plate to hold her together. Is she beautiful you may ask? Absolutely! She is painted in an safari theme zebra camoflauge, but perhaps your idea of beauty is different than mine 🙂 Does she still need some work? “Perhaps” 🙂 She runs and drives, I have a clear pink slip, but she is yet to be registered. Drivetrain is a 134 ‘F’ Head 4 cylinder motor and full four wheel drive is of course all operational, 3 speed manual transmission. Make an offer in cash $$ or perhaps we can negotiate a trade in part or full for either a twin axle trailer or a good pre-71 VW Standard Beetle.”

“This is a 1948 Willey’s Jeep, runs good (but does need new shocks, yes they had shocks back in 1948). Has been used as a hunting jeep. The four wheel drive does work good.

(10/31/2013) The F-head install has a slightly different look.
“I have a 1948 Jeep Willys for sale. Runs and drives great/ The motor has been swapped out with a CJ-3B. 3 speed manual transmission. Manual 4WD hi and low. Full tune up done, New radiator, hoses, and thermostat. It has a new fuel tank, New 2.5″ Rancho suspension lift all the way around. Exhaust has been replaces. Just painted in light green primer.”

The price is for both. The CJ-2A has a MB/GPW body.
“Hi. I’m selling my 1946 jeep willys. Not running but complete. And a 1978 Jeep CJ5 that runs but needs minor body work and a Fuel tank. I am asking $6500 for the both but would rather trade for 1997-2002 Jeep Wrangler. Must run as it will be my daily driver.”
The seller notes that though the body looks a little rough, it’s not all rusted out.
