This is an interesting rig. It’s listed as a 1956, but it’s got a ’52/’53 hinged grille. It’s got an M-38A1 body, but doesn’t have the battery cowl lid or lip.
“Cute and fun to drive…5 New tires from Discount tires $1,000…new exhaust system from manifold to rear…new front brakes.

All Canvas in good shape…windows zip down…ready for a winch…has hitch for towing.

I have some extra parts such as races and bearings and seals for the front locking hubs…so ask for them if you buy the jeep.”

The windshield on this M-38A1 appears fixed. This may have a V-6. The price has dropped on this one.

“I have a 1952 M38A1 first generation Military Jeep and 1942 M100 WWII for sale $14,000.00 OBO or trade for a pickup that runs good and has three or four door. The Jeep is all original except for the oil gauge but I have in garage just need to find sending unit. It is 24 volt kept it all original has less than 1000 miles on rebuilt engine from Pennsylvania. Put a lot of time and money in jeep and was used for funerals and parades in Paradise California.
Hate to get rid of it my grandfather rode in it just before he passed wanted to keep it but my family is in need of a new engine for my 1996 GMC K1500 and a transmission for my wife’s car plus a few gifts under the tree for my ten year old son would be nice. I am the commander for the Disabled American Veterans in Paradise and the guys are going to miss it but my family has to come first. If interested give me a holler I only do business local or in the States. No foreign dealings unless you come to US with cash. No checks of any kind cash only or go together to bank together.”

“Up for sell is a 1954 Jeep Willys M38A1. It has been great to us but we no longer need it due to us selling our ranch. It was repainted in a line-x paint about 4 years ago and had a majority of things replaced. It has new mud tires and new locking warn hubs put on before we parked it a couple of months ago. 3 Speed manual, 4X4 works great just needs a carburetor kit and a battery and will be up and running. It can be started if you would like to see it on. We also do have original fuel tank but had a small leak so we took it off but it can be repaired. Can send more info and better picture on request. No Title, Bill of Sale.”

Has a Kelly hardtop. Runs and drives.
“This is a half finished Project Willy’s. It runs and drives. Mechanically sound and starts right up. Body and electric system is the next step. It’s an old jeep that needs a new home. $2900.00 or best, realistic, CASH offer. I’ve spent over $7000.00 in parts and labor above the purchase price. I’ve just lost interest. My loss is your gain.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $8000.
I can appreciate that not everyone recognizes the elements that make up a stock jeep. And, I don’t mean to be harsh, but do want to be fair …. with that in mind, when a seller lists a jeep with the title “Museum Car: M38” (Not M-38A1), and then follows up in the ad’s text with “Everything original except the engine”, it begs closer inspection. In this case, just some of the non-original items include:
1) The bumper guard;
2) The turn signals
3) The front fender skirts
4) The paint color
5) The steering dampener
6) four of the five gauges
7) Speaker in dash
8) The radio in dash
9) Turn signal mechanism
10) The wiring running up the steering column
11) The passenger handle on the dash
12) The rims
“Everything is original except the engine which is a 80s Pontiac v6
Needs a rewire. Will need to be towed.
NO ODOMETER!”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was listed at $13,900
(04/26/2016) “1952 Willys Jeep/ M38A1 (former Military/early CJ) converted to Brush Fire pumper somewhere along the way. I don’t have much history on this vehicle. But, Drives great, pump disconnected for now, but does work. New Paint 2 years ago. (NOTE; PHOTOS SHOW FORMER UPPER HOSE TRAY, HOSE REEL AND TANK WHICH HAVE BEEN REMOVED AND SCRAPPED, REPLACED WITH SECOND SEAT IN REAR WITH MATCHING FRONT SEAT UPHOLSTERY) Now a GREAT truck for parades with the family or cruising the hills of California, or wherever. Fits in any garage!
Other details; Original 4 cyl Willys engine, transmission (3spd) high/ low range, 4 WD (though I’ve never locked front axles, all instruments work along with all electrical working.
History; I’m about the 3rd owner, purchased about 10 years ago from FF in CT. who purchased it from person in PA. As mentioned, definitely a former military M38A1 that was retrofitted as a fire pumper. Some base yellow paint on frame may point to it serving on air base or carrier? No other history known.”
Engine is supposed to run. Seller knows little about it.
“I have a 52 jeep willys m38a1 with original motor and drive train motor does run I have a video of it running it does need body work you know because it is 65 years old it does need some axle work the front driver hub is pulled apart for previous owner don’t know much about it I work for a towing company and got it from a impound if you have any questions text is best”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $2900.
The dash on the passenger side has been modified. This is a former Fire Jeep.
“Selling my 1953 M38A1 Military jeep. Prior to me buying this it had been sitting for 5 years. It was used by a rural Fire dept before that. So the fire dept added the rear rack. Replaced the seats with buckets from god only knows where.
The good is this jeep has very little rust, fuel Tank has been steam cleaned and coated. New batteries & fuel pump have been installed (it is still a 24 volt system) starts runs shifts and drives. Brakes are sketchy and will need attention. Clearly the jeep has oversized tires and wheels. The wiring will need some attention. The always bent and broken front fenders are near perfect. This is a great stump jumper or restoration project. Priced right.”
Seller can’t find keys.
“1960 Jeep willy. My late step-dad’s project that never got to finish. It was operational a few years ago, but we cant find the keys. It has not been started since then, so some work is going to be required. We have the pink slip in hand, but no keys. I still am debating between keeping it until I have the finance to fix it up or sell it to a good home. But it is definitely up for sale and will be in the garage until then
The interior and exterior is much better compared to other Jeep willy of this price range. We have a new gas tank that was never installed which will be included. Currently has one seat installed.”
