1948? Flattie Ava, MO **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Other 4x4s This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6500

(07/28/2014) This is back up for ‘possible’ sale. It’s an unusual build. It’s listed as a ‘1948 willys jeep m38’.

I was posting some other items and thought I would post this vehicle and test the waters. I’m not really wanting to sell this just got it up and running. It is tagged road legal (barely) It always draws attention and looks. It is a reproduction m38 willys flat fender tub. sitting on a 1978 ford bronco frame that has been bobbed. There is a 6 inch rancho lift with 35″ tires. The engine is a 1976 ford 400 big block! the motor weighs almost as much as the tub! It is a beast sounds good and runs great. It has a hydro boost brake booster. The hood was raised two inches and the nose was stretched about 8 inches to accommodate the motor, nice 4 core radiator, doesn’t get hot. Full roll cage attached to the frame. 5 point harnesses. It does have a heater and a manual wiper on driver side. New windshield that can tilt out. Painless wiring box. All new wiring. lights work. There is a locker in the rear, not sure on the gear ratio. the 4×4 works. It has a c6 transmission with b&m shifter. I believe I know what this is worth and I know what I have put into it. I’m very curious what someone else would be willing to offer for it. Please no low ballers I know it is worth more than a “plane jane” wrangler so don’t make offers less than that! If you are looking for a one of kind rock crawler that is street legal this is it! It is not a show vehicle it has just enough patina & roughness that makes it look good and you don’t mind taking it off road. Yet, it still looks good at the local drive in too!”

“Selling a Willy’s Jeep C-10a Custom Spray Rig. You will not find one like this, one of a kind. This is a CJ10a tug with less than 3000 total produced. It came from factory with a ¾ ton front axle and a 1 ton rear axle. It has a great running six cylinder Nissan Diesel Engine (from factory) with a 727 Heavy Duty Automatic Transmission. This was originally an small and light airplane tow truck. We added a heavy duty bed, diamond plate, front weight, Schaben spray unit with a 5 HP Honda motor. Has all electric actuators to raise, lower, and adjust the spray booms. Currently has (2) broadcast nozzles in the rear, spray wand, and all electric controls and gauges inside. • CATEGORIES: Other 4x4s This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was auctioned.

Buz spotted this unusual Ford Bronco that was used by the Glen Alpine police department.

Vehicle Starts/Runs/Drives, Inline 6 Cylinder Engine, 3 Speed Column Shift, Four Wheel Drive (4×4), All Original, Doors and Top are not original to this vehicle but are period correct. The vehicle originally was used as a parade vehicle, then was converted to be used for the Dare Program. Quarter Panels are clean, seats are original with no tears, floor panels look great. Vehicle is currently sitting outside and is not driven much…very little would need to be done to make this a show vehicle or daily driver.”

1958 Austin Gipsy Clemmons, NC **Status Unknown**

• CATEGORIES: Other 4x4s This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Was listed at $800. Status Unknown.

Eric spotted this rare Austin Gipsy for sale. This was built after the Champ.

“Great car. These were made to compete with the Land Rover and were used by the British military all over the world. This beauty has some rust issues in the rocker area. The rest of the car is pretty good. The only major dent is from an old elephant hit years ago. The motor is complete and turns by hand. The carb needs to be rebuilt – I have the kit. I also have some points, etc, and a service book. No gas tank or exhaust system. It has sat for many years. One of my plans was to place the body on a Jeep chassis. The tires hold air!!! Look at the pictures. I am serious about selling and am only looking to get $800.00”

Year? CJ-8 Mail Jeep Palmer, AK **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Other 4x4s This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $700.

Here’s another CJ-8 Alaskan Mail Jeep. This is obviously a project.

clip from wikipedia:
“A full length steel hardtop CJ-8 was made for the Alaskan Postal Service, using right hand drive and automatic transmissions. Instead of the rear tailgate, the steel hardtop utilized a hinged barn door opening to the back. There were only 230 produced and sold in the U.S. It was also widely sold in Venezuela and Australia as the CJ8 Overlander, with small differences including full length rear windows on the Overlander.[38] Steel hardtops used on these postal Scramblers and Overlanders were known as “World Cab” tops.[39]”

If you’re interested, text or call me and we’ll go from there.
Yeah its rough and its got “a” motor inside the jeep, just not sure what it is and what all it has. You just need to come look at it. And I need it gone.
And I picked a random year because I’m not even sure what it is. No title, buy as is.”

1944? M3 Scout Car Galena Park, TX **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Other 4x4s This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1200.

This popped up during my searches. Looks like an interesting project.

I am selling the disassembled remains of a real WWII Autocar Halftrack. The rear half that would have once had tank tracks is missing. It comes with the patterns and some 1/4 plate to make replicas of the missing 1/4″ armor. It is missing the flathead 6 cyl engine and transmission. My suggestion is to use it for parts to restore another halftrack, or use the patterns I’ve taken from a WWII White Scout Car to convert it into an armored scout car. The last two photos are so you can see what a restored version of this thing would look like. Keep in mind that its made of simple flat plate and the only body work to be down would be on the front fenders! It comes with about 250 brand new of the very expensive armored bolts that hold the body together.”

1947 Armored Ford Truck Colorado **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Other 4x4s This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on $4700.

Nothing to do with jeeps and not a 4×4, but I thought this Ford Armored F-3 truck was pretty unusual.

1947-ford-truck-armored-colorado1 1947-ford-truck-armored-colorado2

What we have here is a piece of history from perhaps the last days of the “old” west.

This is a postwar, 1947 Ford F-3 armored pickup truck. This is not a conversion or an adaptation, this is a purpose-built armored pickup for hauling something very valuable, though we are not sure exactly what.

The entire cab and doors are wrapped in 1/4″ steel plate. All windows are 5-ply glass measuring over an inch thick each. There are four pistol ports to fend off would-be thieves, and the only way inside the cab is via key – no handles or buttons. There are even instructions posted inside concerning truck rules and the behavior of its operators.

Our first guess is that this truck was used to haul lock-boxes of ore from one of the many mines around the region. The F-3 (1+ ton) designation and the utterly massive stack of spring leaves would indicate that whatever was being hauled was very heavy. And a lack of a tailgate suggests that whatever was being loaded or unloaded was done so via crane.

Our second guess is that it had something to do with the mint and the things of value both coming and going to that location. Denver has had an operating mint since 1906.

Construction is first-rate. The bumpers, bed, and even the rear fenders are made from extremely thick and heavy steel, and much time was put into the craftmanship. Gas welding is done to a very high standard.

Finally, GVW and other markings on the bedsides show that the truck was a part of a “Denver Unit” at some point. What unit – we do not know.

This truck has been sitting in a local collector’s care for the last ten years, and he finally has let it go. Last tagged in 1973. This is an opportunity to own a unique piece of wild-west history.

Condition of the truck is typical of Colorado vehicles – mostly dry, and little rust. There is some rust in the fenders and lower valance. And the floor of the bed shows some rot. Otherwise the truck is extremely solid, and has nothing but surface rust.

The original flathead-8 is long gone but the transmission remains, as does most of the rest of the mechanicals. Sadly the steering column was pinched at some point.

The truck rolls and moves easily.

$4700 or reasonable offer on this unique piece. In twenty years of buying and selling vintage vehicles, I have never had anything like this… everyone wants to talk about this truck!!!

63 photographs of the truck can be seen here:

(04/23/2012) George of George the Jeep had this for sale.

“We call her JJ (stands for Japanese Jeep) is a 1975 HJ-38. The ID tag that is on the firewall reads “Manufactured in JAPAN by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation Under License From Jeep Corporation U.S.A. We found this treasure in Montana a few years ago and decided that we just had to have it. She has a 4cyl Mitsubishi gas engine, a 4 speed column shift transmission with a 2 speed transfercase. She has a 44 offset rearend (same as wagoneer quadra-trac), 30 series closed knuckle front end. She is a right hand drive and even has fractory AIR. She is a 4 door with Barn doors on the rear. The grille is the same as a CJ3B except with a Mitsubishi logo and instead of turn signals it has a place for the horns.. The hood is the same as a CJ3B except it says JEEP instead of WILLYS. She does need a new paint job but other then that she looks pretty good. Infact she even has the factory plastic still over the bench part of the back seat. As far as we know she is the only 4 door in the United States. Runs and Does need brakes but they will be fixed when you pick her up”

I don’t know what these are worth, but it’s pretty neat.

1952-landrover-orangecounty-ca

“Up for sale is an amazing example original Land Rover Series 1 was designed by Maurice Wilks and launched by the Rover Company of Solihull on 30th April 1948. It had an 80inch wheelbase and a sturdy box section ladder-frame chassis. The open back with 3 seats in the front design was heavily influenced by the American World War. The Land Rover quickly became popular, the wheelbase was extended during the Series one production to give the vehicle a greater load capacity. Originally produced with a 1600cc Petrol engine, Land Rover replaced this with the larger 2.0 litre petrol engine which was fitted between 1951 and 1958.
