Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1949 willys cj2a jeep 4×4. Original flat head 4 cylinder “go devil” engine with original drivetrain. Fresh OD green paint an a few WWII toys to go with it. This is not a MB, but a tribute jeep. Runs good for around town errands but not recomended for long distance trips. Has new brakes an wheel cylinders and steel lines. Good steel belted tires on one piece wheels. Removable metal top with rear hatch. Doors and roll bar to go with it. Lights work inside and out vacum wipers are operational but their vacum so, by design they suck. Has a oil drip but no other leaks. Floor pans are solid without rust. Four wheel drive works great. I dont like emails because i dont work behind a desk.”

Jack spotted this diesel modified CJ-5.
“Mercedes turbo diesel powered Jeep cj-5 for sale. It was built by the folks at Mercedes diesel 4×4 in eastern Pa and the build is documented on their site, they are the innovators of the Mercedes swap and all work is top notch. This CJ runs great, has lots of cool factor with the 5cyl om617 engine and gets 20+ MPG. It has a BDS 2″ lift on it, 4speed, new bestop supertop,32″ BFG radial all terrain tires. The frame is the cleanest I have ever seen and the all steel body is fair too, it just has some rust blisters. It hasn’t been run in winter on salty roads and has been kept up with.”
This 2A has a few updates.
“1948 Willys jeep CJ2A. The motor is an original flat head 4 cylinder. Transmission has overdrive. Runs and drives great. Has Warn locking hubs. For body condition please look at pictures. Questions please ask before bidding. It is currently tagged and we drive it locally in good weather and use it around the farm.. quite a versatile little jeep. Easy to drive. Mostly in original condition, We trailered it up to Butler,PA for the first Bantam jeep show and drove it all over, Good fun . We drove it to a few local jeep shows. Draws a crowd for it’s age. Looks very small next to a Rubicon with 35″ tires. LOL Item being sold as is. Cash when picked up. Pick up only. If you arrange a shipper, buyer pays all shipping costs.”

” Up for auction is my 1962 Willys Jeep fc 170. I purchased this truck in 2012 from an older gentleman in Arizona
The Jeep has always been in New Mexico and Arizona I had it shipped to New England it’s been garaged ever since I had it
I have not done anything to it it is very solid with a little rust on the driver side floor and a little in the cab corner easy fix
The jeep does not run I bought it that way it needs restoration I was planning on getting it running and getting all the breaks in order and drive it that way it has a nice patina to the paint It has a factory PTO winch on the front from what I’ve heard from other people they’re hard to find I have some extra parts that will go with it a door extra seats and some of miscellaneous items I can store the Jeep for a few weeks if needed but it must be paid for I will help your shipper any way I might be able to deliver locally or a short haul it all depends on my work schedule All funds must clear my bank before it leaves my garage that includes cash.”

“For Sale: 1950 Willys Jeep CJ-3A 4 wheel drive, once owned by Country Music Hall of Famer Eddie Arnold (with supporting documentation) the Jeep is complete, but it is CURRENTLY DISASSEMBLED, as I was in the process of restoring it. the frame has been blasted, primed, and painted in satin black. I do have the title, and several other pieces of paperwork. “Purchased from an estate sale of a Vietnam veteran that was a mechanic there…as the story goes. This binder is in very good condition for it’s age. No breaks or signs of visual wear. It is packed full, as seen in the last picture, of all different types of service type manuals from the mid 60’s to early 70’s as best as I can tell. There are some Willys, Chrysler, Ford, Jeep, Renault, Chevrolet, tons of other service information. So much information that would be impossible to list it all. All pages are also in very good condition. Very interesting piece of history!”

This is the earliest use of jeep hubs as winches that I can remember documenting. It was publishing in the July 1943 issue of Popular Mechanics. The McCain hub was a similar, much later idea.

“1954 Willys Jeep M38A1. US Military till mid 60’s then frame off restoration (bare metal) in the 70’s and same ugly green paint (not military green) since then. Absolutely stock, motor, tranny, running gear and body with no rust. Unmolested panels, tub, dash, etc. Has stock “C”-Door metal hardtop with doors (not in pics), Warn overdrive, military tires (not in some pics) and boxes of spare parts, including block, head, tranny/transfer-case parts, black-out lights, seat frames, etc. ”

(02/01/2017) “hi there. i got a willys jeep for sale. it is a cj2a. has the l134 flathead. engine runs good. has power. does smoke a bit but it is an old engine. shifts through all gears fine. HAS NO BRAKES. it has been converted to 12 volt. was going to restore but now i have no time. body needs some work but is not to bad considering the age. has a custom built cab on it. nice for the winter. 4×4 works. i have the other wheel, obviously it is not on right now—, needed it for the hay wagon 😛
HAS NEWER TIRES-about 1 year old, they are not dry rotted and hold air great.
16 inch rims. jeep comes with some extra parts, like a m38 windshield, and some other small stuff.
sadly NO TITLE.”
