Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1948 jeep willys cj2a. ran about 3 years ago but has been parked since. Chevy small block. tons of extras almost enough to make a second jeep including:

“For sale is a 1942 Willys Jeep MB GPW military in the custom project phase so you can build it into anything you’d like at this point whether it be strictly for shows or a full on rock crawler. It was an original ’42 F script Willys years ago but the body was rusted beyond saving so a handmade full steel custom body was built to completely replace the original.
Still has original fenders, grill, windshield frame and cowl. Original frame has been completely boxed and is set up to run a small block Chevy drivetrain set up with solid axles with leaf spring suspension. It was running with a 350/4 speed and original 4 wheel drive parts in the early 90’s but all has since been removed and sold when I started rebuilding the body.
NO ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/T-CASE INCLUDED.

This has the tool indents, column shift, and the squared bolts for the bow holders, but lacks the full floaters it should have if it is a ’45. Maybe the rear end was replaced?

“97 inch wheelbase, custom frame, 2×4 tube .188 wall. Body and paint in excellent condition. 350 Chevy rv cam comes with another 377 inch Chevy stroker motor. Turbo 350 turbo trans with shift kit performance clutches and bands and 2000 stall converter hurst quarter stick shifter. Dana 20 transfer case with 10 gears. 1 ton corp 14 rear end narrowed 4:56 gears Detroit locker full floating hubs disc brakes. Custom front end 4:56 gears power lock disc brakes warn premium hubs. Rear end is 4 linked with air shocks. Front end has rubicon express spring over springs and remote res shocks. Power steering 4 core radiator, mastercraft seats, 3 inch lap belts. 37″ Goodyear mtr’s, 90% tread. This likely has a replacement body. It also seems to have an early CJ-2A grille. Engine is out.
“For sale is my beloved Willys Jeep. Here is the deal. Jeep ran and drove perfect for years. The oil pump failed and overheated and cracked thge block. I pulled engine and was able to locate an engine on ebay that had very little time on it but had got a bit of water in one cylinder during storage. I completely dissassebled the engine. Honed the cylinders and cleaned engine perfectly. So the engine needs to be rebuilt with new pistons and rings but everthing else is fine. everthing is included. Crank and cam and all internals.”
