Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I happened across this rare set of tracked jeeps made by O’Laughlin (a person or a company?), or it could just be one jeep with successive modifications. I only uncovered a few photos photos and very little information.How experiments on this related to the M-28/M-29 amphibious Weasel are not clear to me, but they appear to have been parallel projects given the Weasel research was begun in 1942.

This could potentially be the same jeep as above, only it’s rear area has been altered. I can’t quite read the numbers on the hood in the top pic to know for sure. 
Finally, there’s a page about a tracked jeep at 42FordGPW, but the page never refers to either vehicle as a Modified vehicle. Perhaps someone can add to this info?
Paul spotted this photo at the “Just a Car Guy” website. Given at least some of these are Slat Grilles, I’d guess this was taken late 1941 or early 1942?

“1948 Willys CJ-2A Jeep for sale. Very nice condition. This Jeep was totally restored several years ago and the original flat-head engine was replaced with the later model and more desirable CJ-3B Hurricane engine that was produced from 1953-1964. At the time of the restoration everything was either rebuilt or replaced. Jeep has been driven very little since. 4×4 and everything works great. Needs nothing. Great for the farm, ranch or deer lease and cheaper than a 4wheeler. Soft top is not in the picture but is included. Lost title, Bill of Sale. Title can be obtained with a little leg work.”

This trailer looks like a good price. I got curious about the number of Willys Overland trailers produced. After some searches, I learned that a contract for the first 10,000 trailers was given to Willys. A follow up contract for 5000 trailers was given to Bantam. Sold by Sears MANY years ago under the name Allstate.
They are built like a vault. They don’t make them like these anymore.
These could be a neat addition to a period-correct Jeep restoration!
Not pretty right now but media blast and detail them and they’ll probably clean up REALLY nice.
