Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Up for sale is a custom built mail jeep with a chevy 350ci engine and a TH350 transmission. The body has been chopped 4″ and brought forward to make a pu bed. Fresh matte black paint with red highlights. Engine is a chevy 350ci with MSD ignition, aluminum intake and edelbrock carb. Everything works great, fast runner and a little scary at times. New brake system, custom gauges. Rear tires on it now are not street legal but i do have the original wheels and tires. Asking $4000”

“This Jeep has a complete body, drive train with 11″ oversized brakes all around. Rebuilt axles, transmission and transfer case. Come with new windshield frame with glass, raditor and fan. We have several boxes of original and spare parts; guadges, air filter housing, extra transmission, rearend transfer case and warn wench.
You just need a motor, fuel tank and seats.
$1400 firm or trade for small fishing boat.”

“Have a 1946 Willys Jeep that runs, no title. 12v conversion. Will trade for 50s Chevy project truck or car or BO. Has a homemade 2″ square tube windshield frame/roll bar with plexiglass. I can remove the frame if need be.”

(06/28/2012) This is a CJ-3B that the seller is advertising as a M606 clone. It looks fairly solid, though the steps have been patched. Note the the radios are not functional at this time.
“1960 “High Hood” CJ3B/M606 clone. Painted in Vietnam era semi-gloss olive drab. New tires, new vinyl top, new tailgate. Ramsey (PTO) winch works and has new cable. Siren, Blackout Light, 2 Piece Antenna, Demilled 3 1/2″ Bazooka, Inert Bazooka Round, Spare 134 Hurricane Engine and Misc. Spare Parts. Odometer Reads 350 miles, the guy I bought it from said he replaced the speedometer when he had the engine and transmission rebuilt. The radios are not hooked up. Turn the key and go! Turns heads anywhere I go. I work so I try to check my email every evening. Thanks for looking.”

For unknown reasons, the driver of this DUKW (thanks Bob) must have had quite a drive!
Alex writes, “Photo of 1954 peace treaty delegation between the French and the Vietminh. The French army used mostly US WW2 surplus equipment in that war. The US took over after the 1954 defeat, Indochina became Vietnam, the Vietminh became Vietcong and the issue was the same 20 years later. “

Anybody catch the latest episode of Top Gear called Worst Car in the History of the World? (Well, at least the latest one in the States). It was put out in the UK sometime in late 2012 I believe. Anyway, they entered a Mahindra CJ-5-40 into their ‘worst car in the history of the world’ contest. Of course, they tested it on pavement and in a drag race, but neglected to remind readers it was built as an Offroad vehicle. Now, I know the producers were probably just having some fun, but, still . . .

Thanks to Dennis Decklever for locating a much, much nice picture from a CJ-3B Page article about John Carroll’s ‘Beer Truck’. The folks at Top Gear called it a CJ-540 (which, to be frank, I thought they’d made up as I’d never heard of that model). Sure enough, the body and chassis is from that vehicle. The remainder is a mix of parts.

This is an unusual vehicle that is part of a business. It’s the whole business that’s for sale. The jeep itself is sort of an electric VEEP.

This was owned by a former POW of the Battle of the Bulge.
“This is a Willys WWII Jeep, It runs and drives and looks very good. It would be great for parade use or for a reinactor. It has the markings of my fathers unit 99th Division 924th Field Artillery. He was an EX – POW from the Battle of the Bulge,( he escaped 3 months later) and enjoyed riding in it. We have no room to store it now that he is gone and this house is sold. It needs to be maintained like anything else but does run and drive and stop well. It has had new wheel cylinders and a New started assembly. I do have the title that says 1941 Jeep MB. We know that it says the wrong year but we thought the next owner could have it corrected or leave it alone. It has a nice top that is like new just do not have any photos of it up. No cracks it the windshield. It has a winter insulator made of canvas on the hood. I was told it is unusual. The lights all work including the cats eyes Black out lights. The tires are old as is the seat canvas but I like the way it looks. You could restore it or drive it like it is”

“1953 jeep Willys, 4×4 with Buick 225 v6 engine and Muncie 4 speed Manuel transmission. Runs like a top, new alternator, radiator, battery, tires, clutch, brakes. I’m only selling it so cheap because I PCS in the next 5 months and I absolutely have to get rid of it before then. I’m already selling myself way short for the price, the body itself is probably worth that alone. There’s absolutely no rust on this thing. You won’t find a 1953 body in this good of shape. It might look dirty in the pictures but I urge you to come see for yourself. I live in oceanside, I’d be happy to get you into the base its located at (camp pendleton) if you don’t happen to be military. Call text or email, this thing needs a good home.
