1951 Truck Washington, UT **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Willys Trucks • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

This is a no-reserve auction. Needs a tiny bit of work.

“This rare classic is selling on a “No Reserve Auction”. The high bidder will absolutely win this truck.

Just got this rare truck in. Its a 1951 Overland Willys Jeep Flatbed Pickup. It appears to be in very good condition for the year. I have had a few of these throughout the years and they are getting harder to find and they sell fast.
This one starts right up and Purrs like a Kitten. No Smoke or engine noise and runs cool. It appears to me to be the original motor and it looks like it has been rebuilt or freshened up. It has good power for the size of the motor. The Truck drives very straight and no shakes or shimmies. It has new tires and nice aluminum wheels which greatly adds to the drive-ability. It appears that someone started to restore this and so it needs to be finished up, but the hardest parts of the restoration appear to be done. It would be a fun project and with a little work you could drive while you complete.
This would also be a great advertisement piece for your business, Imagine your company signs along the sideboards of the flatbed.
A couple of other things. It is a bit hard to shift into 2nd gear i’m not sure if its the clutch or what? I have talked to some people about it and they tell me that its my driving and that you have to “double clutch it” when you shift? Maybe you will know more about this than I do, however I wanted to disclose this. It appears that the previous owners have coated the flatbed and the floor boards with some type of coating. It looks nice and appears to be quite durable. I don’t see any major problems with rust, but there is some visible surface rust inside the door panels and on the roof on the inside of the truck (under where the headliner would be). The seat is not original but fits in the cab very well and looks good. I have the door panels that need to be covered and installed (see pictures) I also have some other misc parts that are in the picture that will go with the truck. It is missing the headliner. The headlights and taillights work but you will need to get the wipers working and a few other misc items.”

1953 M-38A1 Galena, IL **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: M-38A1 • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

This is a no reserve auction.  It’s not perfect, but appears solid.

“We bought this Willys from the US Forrestry Department and painted it Army green. It runs great and is as solid a Jeep as you will find. When it was painted, there was absolutely NO rust repair. We’ve used it in a couple of parades and has sat in the barn now for five years. My wife says I’ve got to clean out the barn and and get rid of items I don’t use. It was fun to own but needs to go to someone who will appreciate it better.

I’m offering this for sale on ebay only and will not sell it outside the auction. We have a shipping company and can arrange shipping in an enclosed trailer for a fee. E-mail me your zip code for a shipping estimate. The spare tire is the original tire and I bought a new spare tire mount but never installed it. I’ll put a new battery in the Jeep when it sells. Good luck and thank you for viewing my auction.”

UPDATE:  **SOLD** Was $500

There appears to be some value here.

“1948 Willys for sale. Complete body and driveline. Not running (I do not believe the engine is seized) and no title. Has a Borg-Warner overdrive. Some rust in tub under drivers seat. Body straight for a 65 year old. Needs a little time and elbow grease. This is a great project vehicle and a greater price. The pictures show it as I bought it, complete with leaves. I have cleaned it up a bit and took it off the frame. I put four newer tires and wheels on it. I’ll throw in two extra fenders (left and right) and a hood. Wife says get it out of the yard.”

1943 GPW Springfield, IL **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: GPW (Ford MB) This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on ebay.

This will need some body work.

“A true survivor!!  Up for sale is my 1943 Ford GPW.  I own a car dealership, but this is one my personal vehicles.  This would be a great weekend toy, or a perfect candidate for restoration.  The body is the way we obtained it other than the decals, but it has had extensive mechanical attention since we purchased it.  We have recently installed a new factory correct Willys long block, a new clutch, a new carburetor, fuel pump, distributor, radiator, and fuel tank.  Other than its missing the original oil bath air cleaner, it’s pretty correct under the hood.  It has had the brakes and axles serviced, it’s been converted to a 12 volt electrical system, and all of the lights and  gauges work except the fuel gauge and horn.  It has the original 3 speed transmission coupled to a 2 speed transfer case.  It has had lockout hubs added, but they were on it when I got it.  The VIN# is stamped on the frame, and is still legible. . . . . read more on eBay.”

Ok, Joe Book

• CATEGORIES: Books, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I bought this book because it sounded interesting and because it had a jeep on the cover. “Ok, Joe” is about a Louis Guilloux, who for a short time acts as a French interpreter.  A well respected writer before the start of WWII, Louis kept a diary of his experiences and this book is structured in that way, describing his impressions about the end of France’s occupation and the entrance of the Allies (American’s in particular).   There is not much about jeeps, other than the writer takes several rides in one, driven by a driver named Joe.  If you like WWII history, it’s a different look at it. I enjoyed the book.

From the publisher:
“OK, Joe!” the American lieutenant calls out to his driver. He hops into his jeep and heads out through French countryside just liberated from the Nazis. With him is the narrator of this novel, Louis, a Frenchman engaged by the American Army as an interpreter. Louis serves a group of American officers charged with bringing GIs to account for crimes–including rape and murder–against French citizens. The friendly banter of the American soldiers and the beautiful Breton landscape stand in contrast to Louis’s task and his growing awareness of the moral failings of the Americans sent to liberate France. For not only must Louis translate the accounts of horrific crimes, he comes to realize that the accused men are almost all African American. Based on diaries that the author kept during his service as a translator for the U.S. Army in the aftermath of D-Day, OK, Joe follows Louis and the Americans as they negotiate with witnesses, investigate the crimes, and stage the courts-martial. Guilloux has an uncanny ear for the snappy speech of the GIs and a tenderness for the young, unworldly men with whom he spends his days, and, in evocative vignettes and dialogues, he sketches the complex intersection of hope and disillusionment that prevailed after the war. Although the American presence in France has been romanticized in countless books and movies, OK, Joe offers something exceedingly rare: a penetrating French perspective on post-D-Day GI culture, a chronicle of trenchant racism and lost ideals.”

1951 CJ-3A Springfield, MA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3A • TAGS: , This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

This looks like a nice CJ-3A.

“1951 Willys Jeep CJ3A. This Jeep is an absolute blast to drive.

It underwent a comprehensive restoration several years ago and is in excellent condition.

There have been under 800 miles logged since its restoration.

This is a CJ3A, civilian model, with an original Flat head 4 cylinder, Willys/Jeep engine, 3 speed manual transmission and manual, dual range, 4 wheel drive.

It was restored to original, unmodified condition, with as many original parts as possible.

I have been in the classic car business for 30 years and have never seen one of these done this nicely.

This vehicle runs so well I would bet it could be driven anywhere, as long as you do not need to go over 50 or so mph.”
