Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This includes a rebuilt engine, though it isn’t installed.
“1966 Jeep with aftermarket solid top, standard on column, 4×4, 4 cylinder, with 6′ MANUAL angle, hydraulic lift plow. This is a project Jeep, does NOT currently run. Needs work, Engine re-built but NOT installed, Needs starter, alternator, battery, etc… to run. This is a cool little Jeep that would make a great winter project.”

Here’s a slattie project.
“You are bidding on a great restoration project. I am thinning out my collection because I have a few other rare vehicles that I’m in the process of restoring so some toys must go. This one up for auction is a 1941 Willys slat grill. It does have rust in the usual places such as front floors, fuel tank and driver side panel area. The jeep has been media blasted from top to bottom but surface rust is starting due to the fact that it was not primered. I was hoping to start restoration sooner but other projects have forced me to push it aside which is why I am selling. The frame is very solid and has also been blasted. I do have a front bumper and a rear crossmember that will go with the jeep. As can be seen in the pictures, the tail panel has been messed with and will need to be fixed. The jeep comes with a complete MB motor but it is not original to the car as the vin is very high. I do have one front seat that will go with the jeep and a back seat. The jeep does have the original low windshield with the early brass windshield clamps which are hard to find. The jeep also comes with some hard to find parts such as the solid wheels and the original pancake air cleaner. ”
This might make a good project.

Colin provided a couple updates. He’s got a new top for his Surrey and his son, Lee, got their CJ-2A project running for the first time.
Colin writes, “I had a new top put on the Surrey. Here are a couple of photos of it. I also attached a couple of photos of our project 1952 CJ3A that is nearing completion. It has a CJ2A windshield and is now 12V with upgraded larger 11″ brakes.It still has the L-134 4 banger, but also sports an electric winch, custom built rollbar and custom bikini top. These were taken the first time we fired it up..it ran like a Swiss watch!”

I wasn’t certain of the year when I registered it with MVD. They guy I bought it from only had a Canadian title with no information. I guessed it was a 1945. I did a little more research and after talking to a few guys from g503.com, we determined it to be a 1943. Instead of dealing with MVD again, I just left it as is.”

I’m not sure this will be an ‘easy’ restoration, but this does appear solid.
“THIS IS AS RARE A FIND AS YOU CAN GET. WILLYS JEEP FORWARD CONTROLS PICKUPS WERE A PART OF AUTO HISTORY. THEY MADE GREAT SNOW PLOWING MACHINES AND WOULD GO ANYWHERE YOU WANTED TO GO WITH THE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE. A LADY FARMER USED IT TO GET AROUND HER FARM IN HILLY AREA OF WISCONSIN AND ONLY QUIT DRIVING WHEN THE BRAKES QUIT WORKING. ENGINE RUNS GREAT AND IT ALL WORKS. THE BODY IS NOT ALL RUSTED OUT, YOU CAN SEE ONE CUT IN THE LEFT REAR FENDER WHERE SOME RUST MADE IT WEAK. OTHER THAN THAT IT HAS SOME LIGHT SURFACE RUST BUT OVERALL IT WILL BE AN EASY RESTORATION PROJECT FOR SOME LUCKYU WINNER. OR JUST USE AS IS.
