David Ommanney appears to have been a well know big game hunter in Nairobi. As best as I can tell, this is a modified Willys Wagon. I have searched for a better image, but haven’t found one, though I found images of his later vehicle, a Landrover.
This looks like a good price.

UPDATE: **SOLD* Was $6500.
I’m not sure what we have. It’s got a GPW Frame, a Willys Body, a CJ-2A windshield and gearing. This will need the clutch replaced.
“Looks great, runs fine, but needs a new clutch. Willys body, Ford frame, Good tires, breaks, etc. I bought this Jeep for $7K earlier in the year thinking it would be perfect for use on our ranch, but not realizing the Jeep is geared extremely low and realistically only gets up to about 30mph. The ranch is out behind Mount Hamilton and it would take us far too long to drive this little Jeep out there, so I kept it as a collectible “fun” vehicle. We were out joy riding (it’s a fun old ride) and the clutch gave out. Had to tow it back home, now it’s been sitting for a couple of months (we start her up once a month). Make me an offer, times are tough and we need the cash.”
Here’s an unusual color photo of soldiers posing in a Willys MA from Life Magazine. I couldn’t find the original source of this on the Life Magazine site (I stumbled upon it through Google).
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $800.
This is pretty banged up, but does have a warn OD. Of course there’s no way to test it, so I wouldn’t assume it’s worth $500 or more.
“willys jeep for sale no tittle parts only 800 obo; roll bar; 3 speed with a warn overdrive/ warns are not made anymore on ebay go for 750-1000; ford 289 needs to be gone though; aluminum hard top with doors; two steering coulmns; front tow hitch; will have to be towed or trailered;”
Let’s see … we have an 1947 “authentic WWII” style M-38. Someone’s confused. That said, it looks pretty good.
“1947 Willy’s Jeep for sale. Authentic WWII style with original interior, canvas cover, tools, etc. Great for any collector, hunter or camper. New wiring and semi rebuilt engine. Only 4,022 miles. Great 1940’s nostalgia feel. Needs minor mechanical work if you are wanting as an everyday vehicle. Please call if interested. 873-1477, leave message if no answer.”
The back of the driver’s side does look rough, but I’ve seen worse …
“1942 Jeep V-8 conversion, runs good, rough body but a good 4 x 4. Rear seat. $2500.00 623-332-4353”
This has no motor.
“1942 Willys Jeep for sale–asking $800. No motor, but does have transfer case and transmission. See pics. Call 731-627-3895 for serious inquiries only.”
This was totally rebuilt at some point, but it’s got at least on dent on the rear corner.
“You are viewing a 1953 CJ3B Willys Jeep. I bought. It about 20 + years ago and totally rebuilt it down. To the frame sitting on shop floor. I spent many hours searching for good body parts, to replace the worn out ones. The Jeep is totally rust free, and not even any weak spots. surface rust is from brush on the deer lease. All parts for brakes, new carburetor, other new parts also included. Needs new tires, glass for windshield and some other parts if you want to bring it up to street legal. Runs, I drove it about 6 months ago, 20 + years ago, I put about $4,000 rebuilding it. Always covered with tarp at lease, brought home after season and garage kept Call 281 798 7688”
