“This just came off my 1962 Willys Jeep FC. Truck is NOT for sale. It could be installed on something else I suppose. It was installed On the Jeep at the Cleveland, Ohio Willys Overland Factory and the original owner drove it to Twain Harte the story goes. It is a neat piece. It is 9 feet long with the wheel well 71- 72 in on center from the front. It’s width is 74 1/2. It is44 in tall It has three big boxes per side with some rust in the bottom. I can’t remember seeing any rust through. It has a huge (32 in tall by 4 feet wide) covered compartment in the center with a sliding lid plus a tailgate. The rack is off of it and Unbolted in pieces. The rack can be thrown in. I don’t need to sell it just could use the space. I am firm in the price as I think it is fair.”

“1953 Jeep Willy’s. Dana 44 rear, Dana 30 drum brake front. 231 Buick V6, SM420 Trans, Dana 20 Tcase (also comes with a Dana 18 offset Tcase still in the Jeep and an offset 44 that’s not in the Jeep). 35″ procomp tires nearly new, front frame has been extended for longer wheel base and has a home built shackle reverse. I believe it has a Detroit locker in the rear and a lock right in the front. I just bought it but my plans have changed. Body is rough but fixable. Come look at it before making offers. I just bought it for $3500 and bought the Dana 20 for it to replace the Dana 18. I have tons of paperwork on it.”
Marty was able to complete the work on his race jeep in time to make it to this weekend’s jeep race in Glenwood, Washington. This is a pic from the property where the race was held (beautiful setting). His kids, Ian, Emerson, and Miranda, look like they are having a great time.
He reports there were a few glitches, but he got them worked out enough to make some runs.

“1947 CJ2A fiberglass replica built on a 1968 vw platform. 1600 dual port engine. Look extremely close to the original CJ2A but has the benefit of a newer engine and drive train. Probably cruise at 60/65MPH. Titled as a 1868 ASVE ) assembled vehicle, green Ok title in my name, current tag. Insured through a classic car insurer for very little premium. Run and drives great but want to jump 4th gear some times. Fun to drive and economical to operate and maintain. Has lots and lots of new parts.”

Doesn’t smoke, new brakes, new wheels and tires, new seats. – new steering, shocks, springs, transfer case rebuild kit, ready to be installed. Dana rear end, functioning pto 8,000 pound driven winch, Minimal rust. Clear Texas title. Street legal. They don’t make them like this anymore, restored its work 25k Negatives | it’s been Bedlined at some point in the past, 4×4 is currently not functioning (simple fix) Fun around town driver, head turner. (08/14/2020) Has no title. There might be a solid body under all that, but can’t tell for sure.

Buss Walker, the author of this July 28, 1959, article published in the Chattanooga Daily Times, learned an important lesson on his first attempt to jeep onto Walden’s Ridge: never jeep without tools. The lesson was learned and our intrepid travelers were more successful on their second attempt.
As late as 1944, as this ad demonstrates, the Minneapolis-Moline Power Implement Company argued that they had developed the original “Jeep”. But, it’s clear that they lost that battle entirely.

Originally posted in 2013: Dan notes in the comments that this particular ride was ‘made by Vernon L. Spalinger Industries in Spokane WA. It was called the “Western Jeep”.’ These were very common rides at one time. This ride was also known as the Jeep-a-round.
