Seems like this is missing part of the firewall?

“The good= The jeep runs and moves, all the lights work (including blinkers), frame is solid. New parts= radiator, alternator (12v system), brake lines, brake master cylinder, gas tank, seat frame, light switch Engine isn’t original. Currently has the f head hurricane four cylinder engine. Hood doesn’t clear carburetor so that’s why the hood is off.
The bad=Floor has rust holes and a spot that someone cut out above transmission, will probably need new brake pads and drums all the way around, there is pressure at brake pedal but brakes dont work (pistons could also be stuck), transmission needs a new tail shaft seal, and exhaust needs work. Make me an offer that wouldn’t surprise your mother”
UPDATE: Status Unknown, Was $13,499.
It runs, but isn’t completely restored.
“1963 Jeep FC150. Stock motor runs fine. New aluminum gas tank fabricated in place of rusty original. New clutch disk, pressure plate, Syncros replaced, New brake master cylinder, all wheel cylinders, brake lines, brake drums, wheel bearings, wiring harness, speedo, horn, steering wheel. All new glass, rubber, window track felts, windows roll up and down well. Have but not installed new door cards, plus old upholstered but warped cards. Pretty much all cab rust repair tackled, including replacing steel over the windshield, and at lower corners. At one time it had a snowplow. Main frame plow attachments remain. Other plow brackets and front bumper with snowplow parts except blade included. I have lost interest in completing a cosmetic restoration, but not too much more to go. Located in 95954. Would trailer to deliver as far south as Sacramento, as far north as Redding.”
It’s listed as a 1950.

“Jeep Sand / Mud Drag Racer 4 X 4 – NO ENGINE Old School Jeep Sand / Mud Dragger from the late 80’s $2500 / open to offers or trade for AMC stuff. NO TITLE for this rig, it was special built for off road use only. This was last raced in about 1991. Transfer case broke and the Jeep has sat in the barn since. I have many more pictures that I can send to a serious buyer. Complete minus the engine. Set up for small block Chevy. TF 727 Trans with manual clutch conversion kit. (no torque convertor) Ford 9″ rear with 5.88 gears (approximate) Dana 20 transfer case that the case is broke but comes with another transfer case. Comes with the tires and rims, but obviously the tires are no good due to age/rot.”
I can’t tell if the fenders are pre or post 1972.

Here’s another story with images about the Bountiful Jeep Posse. This appeared in the May 1948 issue of Outdoor Life. Interestingly, this article summarizes the environmental history and purpose behind the creation of the Bountiful Jeep Posse.
In August of 1969 National Geographic published a lengthly story on the state of Colorado. Near the end of the article is a photo overlooking Ouray with a few tour jeeps in the foreground.
I had hoped the FC-Tour Jeep that was depicted was mine, so I bought the issue on eBay, But, a couple clues indicate it is Craig’s tour jeep. Other tour jeeps shown are the white CJ-6, the red topless wagon, and the Commando tour jeep.
These are scans I made of a reader’s Texaco lubrication charts years ago. The first one is for the CJ-2A and CJ-3A. The second one is for the 4WD Truck.
Ann spotted this video by the Jeep Guy. It’s part of a series of videos spoofing high end vehicles vs. not-so-high-end vehicles.
John’s wife Anne spotted this jeep-themed quilt at a Salt Lake City quilt show. I am still waiting on my jeep quilt from my wife (to be fair, she has no time for quilting these days and no doubt she is waiting on me to finish projects for her).
Blaine shared this low mileage CJ-5 (17K plus miles). There are some great vintage details on this rig.

Update: **Sold**
“Ror sale, Arctic Cab that fits an M38 Jeep or a CJ-3A. Asking $200. It has all the components except there is no windshield. It needs a windshield with straight legs that mounts straight up and down. All the panels and the doors are insulated with high density foam. You can see the insulation in the photo of the inside of the top. All mounting hardware and nuts and bolts are included.”
I thought this commando has an unusual soft top. Was this a standard or third party option? I can’t remember seeing another. This has a nice looking warn winch on the front, too.

“T96-1A 3 Speed With Overdrive Transmission R10B-1E Jeep Willys transmission with a spicer 4-9-67???”
This undated, 32-page introduction to the Universal ‘Jeep’ is a 8.5″ x 11″ booklet I didn’t have and can’t remember seeing previously. I managed to buy it off ebay for $7. Now, that’s a score!
Note that the final photo shows an early dash, along with JEEP illustrated on the windshield rather than WILLYS.
UPDATE: I have updated the post to include the entire newspaper.
First published Jan 22, 2014: The photo below shows the cover of a rare edition of The Willys War Newspaper. Published on September 28, 1945, this appears to be both the last issue of The Willys War News and the first issue of The Willys News. I base this on three facts: 1) the word ‘war’ is scratched at the top, 2) the small explanation at the bottom of the front page and 3) the publishing date.
Searches of “The Willys War News” yielded the following:
The Willys War News, Vol. 3, No. 3, May 19, 1945 http://www.utoledo.edu/library/canaday/HTML_findingaids/MSS-072.html
The Willys War News, Vol. 1, No. 10 in 1943 (8 pages) http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-1943-jeep-willys-overland-war-238396381
Based on those clues, I would estimate that there were were at least 24 editions IF there were 10 issues in 1943 and 10 issues in 1944 and at least 4 issues in 1945. Anyone know of other examples of this? This seems as rare as the Globe Trotter Magazine.
Though I created this two-page scan from the July 30, 1945, issue of Life Magazine ten years ago, but somehow it never got posted. You may have seen it other places, such as Barry’s Farm Jeep page.
Rob’s looking for a Meyer Half or Full Hardtop for a CJ-5 he just completed. If you have one in decent or better shape, email him at rob @ humblerootslandscaping.com (remove spaces around the @).
