Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Jeep at my family ranch in Eagle Point that I would like to sell. I have talked to a restoration specialist who says it has
been modified too many times over the years to be worth restoring to original spec, but that it would make a good toy
for wheeling or hunting.
Frame, axles, and transfer case are all original military spec and in good shape. Engine is an upgraded inline six and
was running years ago, but I wouldn’t even try now without a tune up. The bottom of the body tub was rusted out,
but the structural components are all in good shape. It has been kept covered and dry since I left. I might trade for older paintball stuff since I collect it, and it can be shipped. Nothing other than that.”
I can’t tell if it runs, but I suspect not.

I can’t tell if the body has been modified (tailgate filled in) or if it is a DJ body.
“1946 Willys CJ2A in great condition. This unit had a frame off retoration by the previous owner. converted to 12 volt. new brakes, carburetor, fuel pump, new wiring harness etc. No rust. Speedometer and gas guage do not work. Should have new tires. Troop style seats were added to the back but remove easily. $6200 or BO. Runs great. thanks”

“1947 Willy’s Jeep Custom- Vortec 350, Disc brakes, Muncie 4-speed, Dana rear end, body and frame lift, 33″ wheels, aluminum water pump, headers, full roll cage, stereo, lotsa chrome, fog lights-way too much to list everything, over $15,000 invested. Will take $4,500 cash.”

Given the winch, top, full cage, spring reversal and extra parts, this looks like a very good price.
“1949 Willys Jeep CJ-2A – Chevy 350 V-8, GM Auto Trans and Transfer Case, new battery, Chevy steering, master cylinder on firewall, upgraded radiator, transmission cooler, full roll cage, bucket seats, B&M shifter, nice windshield and Best Top newer top. Body is in very good shape. Heavy duty front bumper with a working Warn upright winch (8,000 lbs. power in and manual out), and roller fairlead. Front shackle reversal, chrome wheels mounted with WildCat 31×10.50 tires. It still has the stock front and rear differentials and stock brakes…BUT…this Jeep comes with a 48 Willys Jeep that has a DANA 44 front end and a power steering box mounted in the frame with a damaged tub. In addition, you will also get a windshield frame, right front fender, grill with lights, radiator, gas tank, transmission and transfer case, and hood, I have also collected a CB radio and antennae, tach, turn signal unit, a power boost master cylinder off of a Wrangler, almost new bikini top, half doors, a back seat and side steps. “This is a 49 willy’s jeep in good mechanical condition. The drivetrain has been recently gone through with all new bearings, brakes, drives nicely down the road. Comes with hard top complete with slider window doors, tow hitch, and trailer lights. Has all original running gear not modified or souped up. Body is a little rough, but the thing is very fun to drive in the hills. Has 31″ super swampers that are around 20-30% tread left, air shocks in rear.”

(09/12/09) This could look good with some paint and different seats.
“Shown is a 1947 Willys CJ2A Jeep. It starts easily and is really fun to drive and it runs good. 4 wheel drive works well. PTO works. It has lock-in hubs, 12 volt push button starter and 15”wheels. Back bed has no rust as you can see in the photos. All original except for seats, 15” wheels, new 12volt starter, alternator and battery. It has been shedded for years. We have placed the maximum number of pictures on this listing but we have other fine photos that we will send you if you are interested. This is a very nice chance at an original 1947 Willys that is a good, solid, running jeep.”

“Selling a 1949 CJ2A, the Jeep overall runs and drives good. Previous owner swapped in narrowed Chevy 1/2ton axles with NO brakes. The motor, trans, and tcase are all in good condition, i rebuilt the carb, flushed and inspected both trans and tcase. Motor has new plugs cap, rotor and wires. Previous owner did the 12v conversion, i installed a new battery and custom 12v starter. The jeep has a custom fuel cell and electric fuel pump. The Jeep’s interior body does have rust but the floors are still there with some extra patch plates from the p/o. Exterior body has 1 or 2 minor rust spots and was covered in bondo by the previous owner, most of the bondo is chipping off the drivers and passenger side. This would be a great offroad vehicle for RYC or your property.”

(05/26/2010) Here’s a nicely updated, yet mostly stock CJ-2A.
“1948 Willys Jeep: Fully restored including stock running gear, L4-134 4-cylinder flathead engine, Warner 3-speed T-90 transmission, Spicer Model 18 2-speed transfer case and Spicer Models 18 & 25 front and rear differentials. Accesories include roll bar, WARN winch, spare tire, locking storage box, Sunbrella top, CD player, CB radio. Always garaged, primarily used for local 4th of July parade anymore. No trades.”

“1945 Jeep CJ-2a, 400 HP 350, Edelbrock carb and intake less than 500 miles on motor. Power steering with tilt. 20 gal fuel tank over rear axel, rear axle Dana one ton 44 with locker, racing seats, 4 spd. quick ratio sm 24, rear receiver, newer 33″ mud tires, Loud and fast! I love it, my wife and kids don’t, so I don’t use it.”

There appears to be a PTO and various parts. I can’t tell what all is here.
“I have several left over Willy’s Jeep CJ2a parts left over package deal $1,800 firm takes all. 1945 jeep AZ Title body rusty a few transfer cases, transmissions and flat head engine blocks, PTO winch, hood, tailgate, 2 differentials and various parts to many parts to list. cleaning up”
This sold for $2750 on eBay.
“This is a 1947 Willys army jeep. It has been in my family since I was a child. I rescued it from my Aunts yard a few years ago and rebuilt it. It is in pretty solid shape, and runs well. It has been driven lately in parades. It has a little overhead cam motor from a 70s vintage Ford Pinto, and it has rack and pinion steering from something. It has a chevy camaro charging system and a radiator I found in a boneyard that fit. The four wheel drive all works, and it has warn lockouts up front. The seats came out of an S-10 I believe. Basically it is a fun little car that rumor has it that my Uncle bought as army surplus cut in half and he assembled it. My Aunt drove it daily for years. I never use it and it is taking up space. Hopefully somebody would like to use it or restore it, or even modify it. It comes with no guarantees, or returns. It can be picked up or shipped but I will have to see what that costs and I will ship it after I receive all monies. I will try to answer any questions I can. Oh, the brakes need to be bled, but a few pedal pumps and it is driveable. It has a hitch on the front so it can be towed, and the tires are new.”
