Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This little girl got her second chance at life. She’s a 48 that was stripped to her frame and redone. There was 14,901 miles on it when I got it, so the motor is untouched and starts right up. I put 152 miles on her so far since I finished her. The body is all Steel!!!! Not a Bondo bucket like a lot of them I’ve seen. I replaced all the rusted areas with the original thickness steel, not the cheap reproduction panels. Seats were redone to original specs. This one was not ordered with a rear seat so the factory plugs are still there! The suspenion has all new shocks, bushings, bolts, brake lines, brakes, everything. She still has her 6 volt electrical system. Now if you are looking for one for the originality this might not be for you. First off you couldn’t get a blue with white wheels jeep in 48. Also, the frame and axels are out of a CJ3B (stronger then the CJ2A), comes with the original axels if you want. And I added turn signals to make the drive easier. I did this jeep to be USED, not a trophy getter, so it is not 100% perfect. Thats why I did the things I did, but she still won best of class at the one car show that I did take it to. I DON’T HAVE TO SELL IT. So no low ballers or tire kickers. I just thought I’d let someone else have fun with it, and I’d start another project. My cell phone number is 1-920-901-6568”

Its two wheel drive with a ford 9 inch rear end Turbo 400 transmission with trans cooler and a Chevy Crate motor that make 350 Horse Power, a hand made Continental Radiator that can handle a big block, as well as the engine compartment as well all made to take a Chevy big block. Coil over suspension, 3 link in the back and a 4 link in the front with a solid postal front end. Custom ice chest and storage bin for easy access and all of your gear. The fiber glass body is unfinished but that allows you to customize it to your own design and color. The roll cage is mounted to the frame, and the wheel base has been extended to make the ride more smooth in the sand, I have had it on a few trips and it runs great. I have a set of Street Tires BFG’s and a full set of Sand Tires as well. I would like to sell it all together so please make me an offer as the season is starting. I also have a willy’s front windshield that would be included if you want to retro fit it. Clear title and paid registration”

This ain’t no ’42 (as listed in the title to the Ad). I wish I could see those vin plates better. This sure looks like an original color. Dayville is a pretty remote town in the middle of Eastern Oregon. It’s a beautiful drive whether driving from the east or the west.

Buck found this cool tribute to the early 6×6 Tuggs on eBay. It’s not wholly original, but it is wholly fun.
“This amazing 6×6 “Super Jeep” was built from scratch using military and civilian parts. This vehicle runs, stops, and drives nicely. The body is in perfect condition. No rust. Fresh paint. Brand new seats. This is is a replica of the 6×6 TUG Super Jeep that the US Army made only 15 prototypes of.

This looks nice enough, but something odd’s has been done to the normal fuel inlet. It’s also got the wrong grille for a 1946.
