Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. This looks like a well built rig. If the body is stretched, it isn’t obvious. The front fenders and hood might have been stretched though.

This is supposed to have no rust.
“I had this listed as a 1951 cj 3a. A guy from New York called me and informed me of what I really have. It’s a 1950 Willys CJV-35, and it is for sale. Since it is so rare, I have increased the price to $5500. There were only 1000 of these made in 1950. Check it out on the internet. I am not kidding All original. Flat head 4 cyl, 3 speed tranny, 2 speed transfer case. At one time this vehicle was green. Then some one painted it an ugly salmon color. I have removed a bit of the paint (a mistake), and in places it comes off easily. In other places it is on there pretty good. It runs great and has no rust, no kidding. The tool box under the pasenger seat is solid, as are the floor boards and the floor under the rubber mat in the back. It comes with a roll bar and high back bucket seats and a tow bar. I took these three items off the vehicle, for they are not stock equipment. It has a heater that works. Unfortunately, someone put an AM radio in the dash ( a really dumb move in my opinion), but they did an ok job of it and it works. ‘.”
Also, it is still 6 volt, and it has the plates on the dash from the Willys Overland Corporation. They’re pretty cool. Come check it out.

Everything except radiator should be there to complete re-assembly, but not guaranteed. Engine was running great when last started – no smoking but has not been started for several years now. (09/30/2009) Here’s a nice looking CJ-3A. It’s got an unusual cage.
“This is a 1949 Willys CJ3A with a rebuilt F-Head motor (not a flat head) out of a 1956 CJ3B. T90 3 speed and a Dana 18 Transfer Case. Dana 27 Front End and a Dana 44 Rear (welded for a locker) 5.38 gears. Custom 6 point Roll Cage out of 1.5″ DOM tubing. New Best Top Soft Top and Doors plus a Bikini Top …. Turn key and ready for a weekend in the woods!! The only thing that could be done is a new carborator because the 60 year old one leaks a little. Wanted to put the $100 upgrade solex carborator in it but just don’t have the time. Also, there is some rust in the bottom of the tub but again, not bad for the year.”

“This Willys CJ3A has not been ran for about 7yrs but was supposedly running when last parked. (it is froze up now-dosnt have a breather so maybe moisture has gotten in). It has very little paint but also very few rust HOLES.(mainly below right door and on the floor by right door). I bought this jeep from my cousin and due to all its PATINA I was planning to make a RAT ROD out of it but recently came up with a couple of medical issues. He cannot find the title but we can get a LOST TITLE very easily if desired. The frame is not rusted out any where that I could find. Springs and suspension seem OK. The cab (mfg by Koeng Iron Works of Houston) has lots of surface rust but is actually in pretty good shape. The doors have crank down windows (not sure of there condition as I didnt try to operate them). The winch has been removed. All gages look to be good shape and was supposed to be operating with the excepion of the gas gage. the emergency brake seems to work. The tranny and transfer case lock up in all gears and the differentials roll freely with the wheels jacked up. The right window has a crack at the bottom. Window rubber looks reusable. The seat frames and springs are there but the padding is gone. The box is dented but not rusted thru. The radiator, fan and shroud look to be in good condition. (I have another that I KNOW is in good shape). The engine has a magneto on it which the previous owner (my cousin) was put on to make better starting in the winter (it was used for snow plowing at their ranch and never ran in the summer), The original distributor is included. Also I have a power-take-off which is in great condition that I will include. Can provide more photos if desired and can possibly deliver for fuel costs.”

The seller hasn’t started the jeep lately as radiator needs repairing. This has a rear PTO.
“This is a one owner 1951 Willy’s Jeep CJ3A with a hard top. The engine is a 4 speed manual, 4 cylinder and has a winch on the front and a PTO on the rear. The bodywork is in good shape for its age and it has most of the original parts. I have not attempted to start the jeep lately as the radiator needs repaired. This is a 60 year old classic. “One 1946 Willys CJ2A runs and drives great ready to go with an 8,000 lb. Ramsey winch and new tires. This is a rare Jeep with column shift and all numbers matching, all tags in place. Four wheel drive, low and high range all work. Everything on the Jeep works but the speedometer.
One 1948 CJ2A tub, chassis, motor and all drive train except axles which I have and go with jeep so this is a complete Jeep.
One 1940’s CJ2A tub, chassis, and all drive line except motor which I have and goes with Jeep so this is a complete Jeep.
One 1955 CJ3B complete Jeep.

One 1940’s DJ2A tub in great shape, this is a rare tub for a DJ because its left hand steer. Several extra frames, grills, fenders, tires and wheels, engine parts, manuals, etc. more parts than the pictures show. Everything goes as a package deal, I will not sell separate.
If you are a Jeep person or want a great project vehicle this is a great deal. All could be sold separate or parted out for more money on ebay or something but I don’t want the hassle. Norm spotted this ad. The jeep has an interesting hardtop and unusual back. It appears well done. Does anyone know if the airforce owned or had other CJ-3As like this?

“1950 CJ3 Runs awesome. New water pump. Decent tires. 4×4 works great. Civilian Jeep painted like an army jeep. Some rust in floors but not much at all. “This is a fun, mechanically solid trail jeep. It has been on almost every trail in Washington and every sand dune in Oregon, so it has some issues. I have alway driving this Jeep hard but not to the breaking point. After every trip this Jeep got a good cleaning, fluids checked then got it ready for the next trip before putting it away. It drives pretty good on the street, but with the rear spool and no turnsignals and no full top, it is not a daily driver.
