Seller provides a detailed looked at this CJ-6. It runs, but has some things that need to be finished.

“If you know what a CJ-6 is, then I’ve already got your attention. If not, look them up. They are quite rare, and are the grandfather to the CJ8 and the modern day Wrangler Unlimited. This is the last model year for domestic sales and was part of the transitional period from Willys parts over to AMC parts. As such, some cosmetic parts are one year specific and are nearly impossible to find.. nearly.. time and money was all it took. Gave up counting receipts a long time ago. Nobody would have spent that much money on it, unless they considered it to be a hobby.
This Jeep came to me about 8 years ago in really rough shape. It ran and drove but needed a lot of work. Faithfully “resto-modded” with a few things still left to work out if desired. It came from the previous owner with the straight 6 258 and a 5 speed on the floor instead of three. I like the upgrade, but unfortunately don’t recall which model transmission it is. It works very well, and the upper gears allow you to “comfortably” keep up with regular traffic. It also has a custom set of dual exhaust headers and tailpipes that give it a wonderful throaty growl.
Maury shared this nice looking CJ-6.

“I am not here to troll or post and run, but I do have a very nice, clean, running, operational 1959 CJ-6 that I am looking to sell. THE ONLY reason I am selling is because I have expanded my business … It is all there, the metal is good, no real “rot” and has had some previous body work done. My goal was to give her a proper restoration and show it as well as drive it during the fair weather months. That said, she starts, runs, drives, turns, stops and shuts off properly. There may be a light bulb out, there may be a little oil leak here or there, there may be a squeak or rattle, the gages may not all operate every day of the week, but it is a very solid 6. It is currently NY registered, insured and inspected. I drive it at least weekly around town to keep her from getting ornery. The previous owner built the rear bumper, which is also an air tank. The front bumper is aluminum and also obviously not original. The seat brackets are fabricated to flip forward to access a compartment built into the floor. The rear seat bracket is also made to flip back for “tailgating” as he (previous owner) put it. He also installed some aftermarket gages. Aside from those items, everything else is original, or appears to be.
UPDATE: Still Available.
(07/08/2020) This appears worth a look. It does need a little work.

“Mostly original – 4cyl hurricane engine, 3 spd transmission, front lock/unlock hubs, 6V. Vintage hard top with glass in-tact. Matching spare wheel. Engine bay reasonably clean, engine and drive train needs solid cleaning. Gauges mostly not working, 6 volt, wiring has had a few things added but it is mostly original. Floor boards rough. Tires hold air but are not road-worthy. 26xxx on the ODO but it isn’t working. Needs fuel line cleaning and new gas tank (or have it refurbed). Originally forest green. Bring a trailer or get ready to tow it (2” tow kit installed and goes with vehicle).

Joe’s selling this former Florence Township (Ohio) CJ-6 Fire Jeep.
View all the information on eBay
“Bidding on a two owner Jeep CJ6 with 6,307 original miles on the original 4 cylinder engine with 3 speed manual transmission with clean Ohio title. It was converted into a fire engine for fighting brush and field fires for a small volunteer fire dept in northern Ohio who owned it until November 2019 when I purchased it from them after being the highest bidder in a sealed bid auction.
Well taken care of mechanically by the FD, was placed out of service in 2018 after being replaced, but not before they upgraded to 15 inch Pro Comp wheels with Super Swamper tires in 2016 (that probably have less than 100 miles on them). The original front drum brakes were also upgraded to disc brakes at the same time (original drums will be included in case buyer wants to restore it to original). Second set of 15 inch steel wheels with Bridgestone Dueller tires (from 2002) also included, as well as the original Goodyear spare tire. Continue reading

The last image contains some ‘facts’. To the best of my knowledge, there’s no data available regarding how many CJ-6s were exported vs. kept domestically. Then, there’s the Kaiser reference which isn’t quite correct either. 1963 was indeed a pivotal year, marking the move away from Willys branded jeeps. But, by that time, Kaiser interests had owned Willys-Overland assets for almost a decade. Instead, this was a re-branding move, a time to ditch the Willys moniker (and its baggage/identity) in favor of the Jeep brand that saw the introduction of the Full-size Jeep line.

“I have a 1959 Willys CJ6 Jeep that I am looking to sell. The Jeep is 98% original and complete. It starts, runs and drives like it did in 1959 or better. I replaced the battery last year and that is all I have honestly had to do with it to make her road worthy.
My plan was to restore it however, in the interests of building a bigger shop, I have decided to let this one go. Serious inquiries and offers only, please. If you don’t know what you are looking at, and are interested, I will tell you. If you are only here to make comments, please move along.
There were only 2,002 of these built in 1959 and about 40,000 total CJ6’s from 1955-1975. Just for a brief comparison, there have been 2.1 *million* Jeep Wranglers (JK) built from 2007-2018 and nearly 4 million Jeeps with the Wrangler model name since 1987. The CJ6 is a rare model with a 20″ longer wheelbase than the CJ5.”
UPDATE: This jeep has been reassembled (last shown apart). The new pics don’t show the completed jeep.

“This jeep is complete and running with a 225 oddfire v6 and 3spd t90a and d18.. Runs great with the new hei and wires Pics dont show it but its way further along with orig steering column and rear seat installed. I also have orig window.. it has a small chip. But its nice and i have a new rubber grommet to install it. Will possibly need a little tinkering after driving it for a 100 miles or so.. To dial it in perfect but its a runner.. Great runner. But it runs great.
Only thing im waiting for now is clutch master and slave cylinder i bought online… So price is reflecting that.. And work to put it in as well as window. Once those r done its going on ebay for 12k… Buy it now hearing it run for 9500.. Or wait a week or 2 and itll be 12000.. Last chance to get it it cheap”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $7900.

“1970 cj6 long wheel base Jeep. These jeeps are rare. 101” wheelbase. Runs and drives however it is a project. Clean ca title and current registration. Dauntless 225 v6 original motor. Dana 44 rear and a Dana 27 I believe in the front. Drum brakes old school technology. 3 speed with a warn overdrive. Rebuilt Holley 2 barrel carb and a new distributor. The tires are 33 inch and currently junk. I have to swap one out due to being flat.
Possible trade for a built banshee, 250r, long travel built quads. Plus cash if needed.
I am more of a Toyota guy and decided not to build this Jeep. I was going to install a 14 bolt rear and a Dana 44 front with 37” tires and leaf spring it AND THEN CRUISE IT… It’s a great platform with a reliable motor. I believe it has a Detroit true track in the rear.”
Hank’s got these two items for sale. Contact him at ehr21755 @ yahoo.com (remove the spaces around the @). If you send an email and don’t receive one back in a day or so, let me know. He had a problem seeing emails I sent, but we’ve got that straightened out.
