This is interesting. I don’t know how rare it is. One of the charms is a jeep.

Joe and his GPW attended the 24th Annual Military Vehicle Show held by the Arizona Military Vehicle Collectors Club this past weekend. It looks like he was having plenty of fun!
An ad printed in the December 29, 1957, issue of the Toledo Blade highlighted the number of factories and sub-assembly plants Kaiser Willys had all over the world. They also had dealerships serving 134 countries.
Buz sent me a note about the Rescued Film Project Archive. The Project finds undeveloped canisters of film and works to restore them. They have an online archives. Recently, they found thirty-one rolls from WW II. A few of those rolls include jeeps (seen below).
Check out this video about the WWII archive: http://vimeo.com/116735360
The August 11, 1958, issue of the Sydney Morning Herald featured a long review of the CJ-3B, whose parts were imported into Australia and then assembled there. You can review the article at Google news as it original appeared or read my re-arranged version (for space purposes) below. The reviewer’s biggest complaint was due to the way the jeep is converted from left to right-hand drive, leaving the gearshift to the left of the transfer case shifters.
Marc spotted this photo. Can anyone interpret the markings on this jeep?
“Original WWII photo of a Jeep from the 388th Bomb Group. Has a crease on the extreme right side. Measures 4.75″ x 4″.”
Paul spotted this CJ-2A made tiny by the huge power shovel. He spotted the photo on ‘Just a Car Guy‘.
I can’t tell how big this is.
“I AM SELLING THIS JEEP BANNER.THIS IS A GIANT AND HEAVY DUTY ONE.TARP LIKE MATERIAL.$100 OBO.PHONE CALLS ONLY CASH ONLY.”
This 1967 article out of the Quebec Telegraph highlights a jeep accident during flaming that hurt star Christopher George of Rat Patrol.
While Paul Lanquist’s CJ-3A looks pretty accurate, the background doesn’t look like the parts of Bryce Canyon National Park that I’ve seen.
Here’s a standard print by Paul. It can be printed on all kinds of items:
1. 16 ounce Coffee Cup on eBay
Another example of rolling a jeep to fix it.
“1945- U.S. soldiers tip vehicle on its side to render “first aid” to an ailing jeep in the Ormoc sector of Leyte.”
It’s marked July 1961.
“Original Vintage Color Snapshot Photo Man w/ Pink circa 1960 Willys Jeep Surrey Gala dated 1961 Size is 3.5×5″ inches.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

You would think that without phones, radios, and fast food in our vehicles that we’d have fewer distracted drivers. However, it seems people have had trouble paying attention since the dawn of the automobile as the below illustration highlights. It was published in January of 1921 in the Deseret News under the heading “Careless Driver Increases Danger of Motoring and Jeopardizes Public”

Here’s a great press photo that shows members of the Bountiful Jeep Posse all lined up and ready to go.
“1947 Press Photo Merk Christensen, President of Bountiful Jeep Posse”
George spotted this video. It shows that FC-170 from SEMA racing down the road on its tracks. Nice interior shots of it.
We’ve seen a poorer quality version of this photo. Here’s a better scan of the June 1955 photo from Willys News with the caption in tact. Though the caption doesn’t mention the movie name, it probably refers to the movie released in 1956 called the Proud and Profane.
I spotted this great old Jeep Club plaque from the Chuckwalla Jeep Club on Craigslist. The club still exists and has a Facebook page.
A McHenry, Illinois, dealer created an obstacle course for potential buyers to test jeeps. The February 1956 issue of Willys News reported this.
Both Paul and Ted spotted this color Willys MA photo. It’s part of a collection of photos. You can see them below.
Great photo!
“1941- Because he was the first person to buy a defense savings bond at Treasury House in Rockefeller Plaza, actor Eddie Cantor was taken for a ride in an Army jeep. Shown here on the steps of the Bowery Savings Bank on 42nd Street.”
