“1942 Ford Jeep, 289 V8, and it runs! 4-speed with a Warn split transfer case. Comes with extra parts off a ‘46 Willy’s. Been in dry storage for 20 years.”
It’s listed at $4, but not sure if that’s $4k or more. May be more of a make offer. Pics make it difficult to tell how much value is here.

“1942 GPW (Ford) Jeep. Family owned since 1970. Very good condition. New bikini top. Price is firm. Delivery possible up to 100 miles AFTER SALE.
This jeep runs and drives very well. It is about 85% original. Engine has been rebuilt and is NOT the original ford built engine. 12 Volt electrical with alternator. It has a tailgate which was on the Jeep when purchased in 1970 and updated with flush mount lights. That, the brush guard, and the bikini top are the only changes in the body. It has been well maintained and used regularly since it was purchased. A fun jeep to drive or a good start on a total restoration. ”
UPDATE: **SOLD** $5000. Now here.
Looks like a solid GPW with one major modification: the steering box. Though the steering looks unusual, on the plus side it’s got a thick (half-inch??) support plate coming off the frame; also, it seems to have held up well (given, I imagine, this was an older mod). An additional plus is that the builder didn’t cut the front cross member when updating the steering (or so it appears), so I imagine someone could restore the original steering if they wished relatively easily. I think it would make a good entry level GPW for the right person.
“1942 Ford WW2 GPW. New cooling system, ignition system, fuel system, electrical wiring front to back, seats, rear brakes, etc. Has an engine from a cj2a. The engine overheated at some point and cracked. Will need a new block. I’m reluctantly selling it. I’ve spent alot of money and time on this Jeep. It is the perfect restoration project for someone who wants to disassemble it and restore it from frame up. Most of the parts are already there. It needs a proper restoration. I’m asking $6000 and it has a clear title. The price is in consideration of the engine work needed.”
UPDATE: Still Available.
(10/17/2019) This is an electric powered jeep that’s listed as a 1942 GPW. It’s actually on a 3A chassis. The tub has MB tool lids, but it has the other hallmarks of a GPW body (square indentation for the tool box lock button and the GPW rear seat setup).

“This jeep is a real original 1942 gpw ford military tub hood and fenders On real original civilian cj3a frame and running gear.
I just regd it. It is fully street legal but just like the original its not a freeway veh.
It has a brand new ELECTRIC Motor.
And brand new duracel batterys.
The motor puts out 77hs power.
The Orig motor only had 60hs power.
It Runs great. It’ll do about 35 And it doesnt like hills but It can be tweaked to do higher rpms or have higher torque. I just started messing with that but im slow at it because of a condition with my hands. I will change this paragraph when i have it dialed in right.
It Wheels good and does great on flat ground. I have a wheelin test hill here i can show u on. extreme hills use lower gears and it does good . It’ll do it but u have to Know your gears to get the most out of it. It takes a little getting used to.
Includes a CJ-2A parts jeep.

“This Jeep is a little rough but has lots of parts most other WWII Jeeps are missing. It’s odd it retains many parts that were taken off but it appears to been treated ruff by the metal work – like the floor.
The front wheels are the rare two piece which I have rarely seen and maybe the dual rear wheel option they had offered.
Motor is not the best but I will include another mostly complete early green CJ-2 that should have a good motor – it turns over – oil looks good – and has anti-freeze in the radiator.
Not wanting to send a lot of pictures – best come and look at it and the parts Jeep.”

“1942 ford gpw – Mostly there
This has orig vin tags on the dash and orig matching frame #. These tags are worth 1000 by themselves.
Original to this jeep – f marked tcase
Orig axles
Set of 4 combat wheels.
Willys flathead L134 turns freely. Needs rbld. May run as is.
This motor is not orig to this jeep. It is a willys cj2a engine.
If u dont want it. Ill jeep it and take off 300.
I have the inner window frame and a few parts and pieces. It will need some parts and some love to complete. But its already od green.
I have all the paperwork needed to reg it. I have the papers from last owner and i got the vehicle verification already to go. Just need to go to dmv and pay and I am not going to go pay dmv fees until i am ready to get it running but that wont be anytime soon. So there it will sit unless it sells.
Price is firm. And is fair. I may take a trade but id rather have cash.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1200.
Allan’s got this GPW survivor for sale. He recently bought it for the engine and is selling the rest. If the serial number is 9549, then it is an early 1943 GPW.
“This is a military GPW MB type Willys Jeep project. It previously had a Chevrolet V/8 engine swapped into it and I bought it to use the engine in another project.
The Willys still has the original glove box ID plate with the three tags on it. I have slightly brushed the center tag to reveal the following: GPW 95479…….2 4 30……2 5. I have rubbed a little chalk in the number to try to read and that is what I have come up with so far.

Both are definitely projects.

“1944 Ford GPW Military jeep, runs, drives, starts, stops, uses nothing, runs cool, decent shape for 75 years old, what can I say, they’re rare.”
Powered by a VW Rabbit Diesel.
https://madison.craigslist.org/pts/d/madison-1942-jeep/6964097948.html
“This is the Ford version of the world war II jeep. Two companies made the same vehicle for the war effort. Willys and Ford. The original motor broke the crankshaft so I replaced it with a 1986 diesel vw rabbit motor. Has about the same hp and gets great mileage. The motor runs well but the transmission pops out of gear when slowing down. The synchro also does not work correctly. The trans could use a rebuild. Otherwise the brakes, tires, and lights including custom turn signals work fine. This vehicle was a 6 volt system but now its 12volt. Very fun to drive. Also included is a hard top with doors and windshield called an arctic cab. These cabs were used during the Korean war. I don’t have the original title but have it registered as a 65 willys.”
Looks rough.
