Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “This 1944 Willys MB was owned by a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran for approximately 40 years before being inherited by the seller’s spouse in 2019. The truck is powered by a 134ci inline-four mated to a three-speed manual gearbox and a dual-range transfer case, and the body was refinished during the family’s ownership in green with military-style livery and features a canvas soft top, a pioneer tool kit, a jerrycan, and more. The included Willys trailer was purchased and refurbished approximately 25 years ago. This Willys Jeep and trailer are now offered by the seller with period WWII memorabilia, non-operational display machine guns and other items, a technical manual, service records from the past 40 years, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s spouse’s name.

Has indents and an inlet, but the inlet could have have been added afterwards given it is atop the diamond plate. This is not running.

This might be a GPW rather than an MB. It appears to have the GPW crossmember, but I am not certain.

“1941 Willis MB Military “B” or what became the “jeep” The MA was the prototype this is the redesigned MB pre-war late 1941 production note the distinctive welded slat grill. After 1942 this was changed to a stamped grill. Newer seats, brakes are free, replaced the fuel tank, fuel pump. Turns over but needs a battery.”

“JEEP Willys MB built in May 1945. All original metal tub NEVER left frame until frame off restoration in 2006. Bought from military in early 70’s in California. Have history to today. Most of its life was spent in Arizona. A lot of time it was in storage at Deer Valley Airport. Restored to “fresh to the service without going to war” condition in 2006. Front bumper still has original rivet brackets and tag. Fresh repaint 2019. This jeep WAS NEVER an off road toy. Most all parts are original or nos. NOTHING modern added period. It has all the appropriate MAY 45 extras, original 6 volt system. 5 nos combat wheels w/ correct tires. Lots of small items like books, storage box, removable license plate bracket

Dan shared this Slat MB for auction on eBay. This is a remanufactured jeep, completed by the Moore Corporation (data plate on dash).
“The Willys Slat Grille jeep was produced only for several years 1941,1942 at the very beginning of WWII. There are many distinguishing differences between the Slat Grill and the MB which followed in production, the main one being the different looking “Slat Grill”, and the letters “WILLYS” stamped in the tailgate on the left side under the gas tank. There are many other differences which separate this early model and the MB which followed. Very few of the Slat grills have survived to today.
This jeep is one of a large collection of early Willys jeeps which was put into storage 50 years ago.
it was running and drivable when stored, however it has not been started for many years.
This jeep is unrestored and completely original. It has its original body which is solid with no rust or dents. It has the original 6 volt electrical system, 4 cylinder (4-134 L head) engine, 3 speed trans, and 4×4 high-low transfer case. It has it’s original sand tan paint and combat wheels. There’s only 19709 miles on the odometer. This one was delivered 1/20/1942.”

“1948 Willys CJ2A Jeep that I have been working on for some time to use as a camp jeep. Prior to my purchase the previous owner had completely disassembled it and then cleaned and painted the frame, transmission, transfer case, and the front & rear ends (inside and out). He also replaced the brakes and brake lines.
I mounted a WW2 military body onto the frame which is very solid and has a new floor. The engine is supposed to run and spins freely but I haven’t tried to get it running yet. It was converted to 12volt for easier starting and has an alternator, new gauges and new battery. I have just run out of time to finish it and need the space in my garage for winter. Included with the jeep are a tailgate, windshield frame, steering column, driver and passenger seat, new steering bellcrank repair kit, clutch and brake pedals and other misc. items. It will need a gas tank and muffler, windshield glass and no doubt some other items to finish it up.”

“A farmer purchased it from the Fort Irwin Army Logistics Base just outside Barstow California in 1966. We got it from him in 1996. It has been under a roof ever since.
The farmer put a Willys F head engine in it along with larger drum brakes. The hood was cut for the carburetor. Carburetor has been replaced so hood will clear when corrected. He also swapped out the windshield to a latter / taller version. An electric Ramsey winch was also installed by the farmer.
Very little rust in easy to get at area. Runs and drives nicely.
It is still available if you see this add. I won’t negotiate without you seeing it.”

“1942 Willys MB slat grill project, early model with no glove box, has postwar engine (turns) , t84 transmission that shifts freely. Frame Looks to be pretty good minus the usual gussets and rear crossmember. Body tub is rough but repairable using new floor pans and a rear panel. Front clip is restorable. Slat grill is pretty nice. Came from Georgia so no title as they didn’t title older vehicles. Has four excellent combat wheels that can or can’t be included depending on deal. I’m looking to trade for a restorable m151a2 jeep , lots of work needed is ok but need a restorable candidate . May also consider a complete m274 mule but mainly looking for m151a2”
