Eastman also shot this photo of Ted Corder’s Willys dealership, located in Susanville, California. I’d say this was taken in the late 1940s?

This photo was on eBay and posted to the G503 Facebook page. It’s got an unusual hardtop. Some good headroom!

The writing on this photo indicates this jeep with a wood top was located in Europe. It was odd enough I thought I’d buy the photo, which was on eBay.
Charles is currently vacationing along the Belgian coast. During his trip he spotted these photos on the window of a shop. He noted that “the advertisment NESCAFE on the jeep is belgian coffee – first one liberation of Belgium.”
That’s a lot of M-38A1s!

And imagine your problem trying to locate your parked car in this jungle of jeeps which stretches across desert sands at the Marine Corps Supply Center at Barstow, California. However, the Marine Corps says it has a filing system which helps locate any one jeep in jig time. The Marine in jeep at center is Senior Sergeant Jack McCallister. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Original Post March 22, 2014: “1943- U.S. Marines pull jeep from mud on Bougainville, Solomon Islands.” This was on eBay.

This photo appears to have been published as part of Eisenhower’s 1948 book “Crusade in Europe”.
“Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower in a jeep at front line positions in France in September, 1944 . . . Get. Eisenhower’s own book of the war, “Crusade in Europe,” to be published Nov. 22, will be a treat to military men in studying the strategy of the war and its campaigns, but perhaps the most interesting part of it to the layman is his inside estimate of the war leaders. . .”

This August 08, 1945, photo shows Shirley Watts driving the first CJ-2A to reach Miami.
“1945 Press Photo Mrs. Shirley Watts drives the first civilian jeep. This is an original press photo. Here’s the first Jeep for civilian use and the first new car to arrive in Maimi since limited production of new cars was authorized. Mrs. Shirley Watts gets the feel of the wheel of the car which in its military version made World War II history. Waco Motors, the distributor, expects to be able to make rapid delivery of the civilian Jeep model in about 30 days.Photo measures 8.5 x 6.75inches. Photo is dated 08-08-1945.”

UPDATE: I love it when I can combine old photos with documentation. In this case, I discovered that Stanley W. Smale had filed a patent for his metal sweeper. Stanley filed his Magnetic Sweeper patent on January 10, 1950.
From his patent: “An object of this invention is to provide an apparatus of such size and mobility that it can be used to remove ferrous articles from roads, parking lots or any surface over which vehicles may travel, in an effective, speedy and economical manner.
Another object of this invention is to provide a mobile magnetic field of sufficient force to not only pick up loose items, but pieces embedded below the surface which might normally be forced upwardly through the surface by frost or other disturbing influences.”

Roger Martin spotted both of these jeeps on Facebook.
The first one was describe by Jim Burrill as a British Jeep during Operation Veritable.
The second jeep was posted by Norberto Boddy and was extended in the middle (CJ-2L-like). I tried to hunt down “Crescent Poultry Products”, but didn’t have any luck. The phone number seems strange, as it include an “L” in it; anyone recognize that phone number construction?
Norberto Boddy posted this to Facebook. I don’t have any info about it.
