Anyone Recognize This CJ-5 Toy?
This jeep toy appears at around the 4:30 mark of the video at the bottom of the post. Anyone know what company produced this toy jeep?
2021 Fall Colors Tour Video
Here’s a neat look at a video from the Fall Colors Tour.
Video on Rebuilding Headlight Rings
Jason put together this video on how he, just for the challenge of it, rebuilt a set of headlight rings. You can see his other videos here.
Nate Tests “Snowshoe” in the Snow
Nate got out his camera and his track-enabled CJ-5 named Snowshoe to see how it would do in the snow. He’s suitably impressed.
Rescuing a 1949 Jeepster
Bill shared this TWO-HOUR video of a 1949 Jeepster rescue. I haven’t had time to review it all, but it looks like in pretty good condition and will make a good restore or drive-as-is project.
More About The Barrel Cars
A few days ago I posted a video about the oil barrel cars in Thailand. Here’s some more info about them thanks to Bill.

Video Oil Drum Cars Out of Thailand
UPDATE: More info here.
Bill shared this video about little cars/go-karts made from oil drums. Nothing jeepy here, but they certainly are creative. I want to test drive one, but not in Thai traffic!!!
Buick V6 History Video
Bill shared this video that provides some history about the Buick V6. What the narrator doesn’t mention is that by 1965 installations of the Buick V6 were already happening in places like Salt Lake City, where a local dealer was installing them. At least one article in Four Wheeler Magazine also mentions the modifications necessary for a Buick V6 install. Unfortunately, my jeep mags are still stored, so I don’t have the Four Wheeler article handy to share.
(The good news is that we are nearly done with our master bedroom remodel. Once we move in there, we can remodel our ‘family room/office’, which is where we are sleeping right now, where I plan to display and shelve my books/binders until I can remodel the shop … one step at a time)
“Submarine Jeep” Transmission Trouble
Bill shared this video. It is part of a series of videos about its creation and challenges.
A Different Kind of “Fire Jeep”
The video highlights the saving of a jeep that’s been through a fire.
Saginaw Steering Conversion Video
Bill was kind enough to share this video. I don’t have time to review it, so I don’t have any comment on it at this time.
Mahindra Roxer Review (1 Year Later)
Here’s one more video courtesy of Bill. It might be a practical vehicle for the right folks.
Collins Brothers Jeep Collection for sale
Thanks to Bill for forwarding this video. There’s a lot of nice looking jeeps here. You can also learn more here: https://collinsbrosjeep.com/cj-for-sale/
General George Patton’s Jeep Driver
Bill shared this video of General George S. Patton’s Personal Jeep Driver. He once removed a jeep engine in 40 minutes (and was very proud of that)!
Willys Jeep on Farm as Tractor & Plow Video
UPDATE: This video was shared in September of 2018. An oldie, but a goodie.
I saw this video for the first time yesterday. Near the end of it there are several jeeps featured doing non-farm chores. I’ve taken a few screen shots of them and added them below. The most interesting one to me is the red one with the extended rear (pic with guys carrying the washing machine).
We’ve run across these extended rears like this on a few jeeps over the years, but this is the earliest evidence of them that I have seen. The one on the back of the red jeep looks like to me like it was professionally made, leading me to wonder if it was a purchasable product.
Nate’s CJ-5 “Snowshoe”
Nate built this custom-purpose CJ-5 from parts.
“This 1966 cj5 came to me in very rough condition. No engine or transmission. The tub was falling off and the windshield glass fell out on the way home because the windshield frame was all rotted out. I pieces it together from parts I could find cheaply and it turned out to be a really tight Jeep now. Still a work in progress with more modifications to come.”
Part 1: Epic Willys Oregon Trail Adventure
The Epic Willys Adventure Crew has put together a video showing highlights from days 1 & 2 of their 2021 summer adventure. Here’s a 20-plus minute video.
Robert Max and The Long March Home
I don’t remember how I found this video (maybe from Facebook?), but it turned out to be a compelling one. Before his death in 2020, New Jersey resident Robert Max was the last known survivor of the Nazi WWII force laborers. A few years ago, he wrote a book about his experience, then narrated the following forty minute documentary video (playable for free on Vimeo). There’s a pretty interesting twist at the end, too.
Here is Robert Max in a jeep at Camp Atterberry in 1944:

A Jeep in an English Hedgerow
Bill shared this video about a jeep owner in England who discovered an MB in a hedgerow, only a short distance from his house. Going by the name “British Gollum”, he does a great job of breaking down some details of the tub and how he’s identifying it. It truly is jeep archaeology.
John North Willys Early History
This video from the Ontario County Historical Society. It shares some of John North Willys’ early history. Note that the historian uses the Williez pronunciation of the nation, which likely will grate with some folks.
1950s There’s a Jeep for Your Job Video
UPDATE: This video is making the rounds on FB, again, so, I figured I’d repost it.
Original Post March 2017: Listed as a 1940s promotional film, the inclusion of CJ-5s and the exclusion of DJs and FCs suggests to me it was created in 1955. There’s an extended look at a cargo personnel carrier near the end of the video There are also a variety of specialized equipment and hardtops shown.
Late 1960s Video of Robot Pushing VEC CJ-2A
Carl shared this video of a General Electric test robot (seems like a forerunner of the Boston Dynamics robots) pushing a VEC CJ-2A (which had seen better days — has the f-head bump, side damage, etc) out of a ‘ditch’. The Jeep portion begins at the 6:07 mark.
1954? Video /Commerical for the Willys Wagon Line
Here’s a neat video published on Facebook. It shows several models from the Willys Motors Wagon line.
