Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. I’ve had this since 2018 with the hopes of creating an off-road vehicle I could rock crawl, but still be street-able. You might remember that last May Ann and I had a chance to visit with Dan and April and their kids at their Eastern Montana Bison Ranch. At the beginning of October, they began creating videos of their ranch experience. They have currently produced four videos with plans for more. Though jeeps make a small, short appearance, mostly it is about learning how their lives have changed as they learn to do without the things most of us take for granted, including utility-backed running water and electricity. Originally Posted Feb 22, 2019: Thanks to Roger Martin for pointing out these series of jeep pics from 1950s Daytona Beach. These were all posted to the Greetings from Daytona Beach Facebook page.
The four page brochure on the right is one I haven’t seen previously. Given the vehicle outlines shown in the second pic, I’d put this at around 1960. If I didn’t already own the Jeepster brochure on the left, I’d get this combo.

Tom shared this intriguing late model CJ-3B. It hasn’t run in a couple years, but there is a lot to like here. It looks to be low/no rust with a Government data plate and a ventilating windshield. This looks like a true barn find.

I just purchased this Tour Jeep postcard off of eBay that shows an FC-170 tour jeep in the Virgin Islands in 1968. I searched for additional information on FC jeeps in the Virgin Islands, without success.
Back in 1987 (like 10 lifetimes ago!) I toured St. Thomas in a tiny Suzuki Samarai and in the back of a taxi. The FC would have been a much cooler way to see the island.
The Clemson 4-Wheeler Center shared this vintage 1978 Hinkle’s brochure. Hinkle’s billed themselves as the world’s largest jeep dealer.
The center seats shown on page 9 for the CJs was something I don’t think I’ve seen. I also thought it was interesting that the company listed X-style and PCV-style Desert Dogs, but not the standard type.
Tom shared this rebuilt CJ-5. I haven’t seen an early KS speedometer with that tall of bezel (outer circle). Maybe it is the light color of the outer ring that is throwing me off.

“Must have for Willys Jeep collector. First year 1955 Willys cj5. Bone stock with rare original speedometer and gages and they work. No alterations still 6volt system. New correct tires, brakes ( emergency brake also works) tune up , battery and fluids. Cranks first time every time. Drives and stops straight. PO rebuilt motor, new transmission, clutch ect. Recovered seats and painted a few years back. Only driven 1100-1200 miles since. Ga normally won’t issue title on vehicle this age but I have copies of two South Carolina and one Virginia titles so Ga did issue a title in my name. Priced $2700 below Hagerty’s #3 good value. New Bestop and doors.”
