Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. Bill spotted a scene with a jeep in the 1972 movie The Salzburg Connection (it might appear other places, as I didn’t have a chance to watch it). You can see the jeep scene between 41:45 and 42:35. It looks to be an MB.
By the end of the scene, the driver is deliriously (Psychotically?) happy. Maybe he was just really happy to be driving a jeep?

Jay just purchased a WWII jeep with this unusual exhaust modification. There are lots of guesses on Facebook about what it is or why it existed. Any thoughts?
(This is the only pic he currently has, as he is still awaiting delivery of the jeep.)

Autoquest Jeep is selling this vehicle. It’s got a replacement body, but the frame looks to be an M-38 based on the boxed front frame rails. For a good comparison of an M-38 frame vs. a CJ-3A frame check out this image from Was at the Willys M Jeeps site:

Info we have is this M38 Army Jeep was restored about 30 yrs ago & was last registered for street use in 1992. It’s a 3.9 liter inline 6 motor with a 3 on-the-tree manual transmission. Clean Mass title ready to be signed over.
The motor turns over and wants to fire up but it doesn’t have spark. We’ve bought new points, a new coil, and a new condenser ready to be installed which should solve the spark issue. Comes with vinyl doors, diamond plate tailgate, and bench seat.
Any part you could need for this is readily available online. Cruiser Solutions up in New Hampshire can do any motor or body work needed.”

I’m sure some FC-150 owner could use this bed.
“I bought this FC bed out in western Nebraska with the intent f using it behind a cj10 cab.
That project changed hands and directions several times, and now I have an FC bed with no home for it.
I do consider chopping it to make it a different size for some other Jeep based pickup project.
But if someone needs it for an actual FC, that would be best.
It’s not pristine, so modifying it wouldn’t be a huge sin. But it’s solid enough that a real enthusiast might want or need it. Not many folks can say they’ve ever owned any forward control Jeep parts at all, so maybe you want it for bragging rights or to build a trailer for your flatfender.
I paid 500 several years ago, so I guess we can start there. Just my luck it’ll be worth 3000 and I still let it go for 500…”

(10/04/2020) These warn hubs are a bit warn. These dimpled versions are the second gen summer hubs; the first were the waffle style.
“WARN hub set in original metal case. Dimpled design. Converts your old Jeep into 2wd only while these are installed… thus why they have become known as “summer hubs!” Freewheeling installation to keep your front axles and differential from turning with front wheels. Should fit the CJ-2a cj3a mb gpw probably even the cj5? Don’t know for sure.”

“1946 CJ2A Willys with the original 4 cylinder Go-devil engine and 6V electrical system. Based on the Serial Number, it falls in the very early category, basically right after WW2. It runs very well for its age. The body needs some TLC from someone with a welder, I had intentions of getting one and doing the restoration, but life got in the way. Looks like a Koenig hardtop for a CJ-5 or M-38A1.
“The cab is solid on top and sides the rear of the cab has rust , the doors are both there as shown and are not rusted and the hinges work too glass is good in the doors and the 3 cab windows. The roof and front header are solid the 2 posts, that the doors mt to are ok, just screw or braze them onto the roof and screw them to the sides of the fender.”
