Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “1950 Willy’s Overland Wagon. ALL complete and original. In good condition. Original Flat 6 engine, transmission, and 3 on the tree. Interior is complete with all new weather stripping and moldings. All windows intact and work fine. Doors close and open perfect. Everything works. It has 72243 miles. It is 2-wheel drive.
I have not driven the Wagon since 2013. I’ve had it parked in my drive way since. Non Ops status on DMV. Title clear and Pinks on hand. Body is in good condition with usual rust spots. “This jeep is fresh from storage and will make a great summer project. It was last registered in 1987, I have owned it for several years and never got around to repairing it to its former glory. The frame is in really good condition. The body is starting to show its age so it has some rust patches, if you know these Jeeps you know that they were originally mounted with wood therefore the metal around the wood rusted from the moisture. I think the original color was red, but when I got it it had been painted blue. It was sold to me on bill of sale only. It is missing the engine. But it has the transmission and both axles.”

I spotted this CJ-3A the other day. I didn’t ask about the price. I *think* it had an l-head if I remember correctly. It does have the serial number tag. I was in the middle of taking pics when a guy came up and asked me questions about it, which distracted me.
The grille is bent .. not sure how well the lights would work.

yes there’s a v8 in this little Betty. still has the 3 speed and transfer case. So here’s the back story on this piece of American history. In 1990 it was a running machine. Then the body was taken off the frame – both were stored in a shed until a year ago, while it sat the aftermarket gas tank, gauges, starter and steering column went missing. The motor turns over by hand. This is a project. like I said it’s been sitting since 1990. I’m asking 1600 open to offers or trades.”

(03/02/2018) Bill shared this ad. There’s no sign of the extra gauges, so I can’t tell if this was an APU jeep or if the hood was appropriated from an APU jeep.

I’m in Salt Lake for a couple days, spending time with my kids. Karson took me mountain biking on Antelope island, which sits in the Great Salt Lake. He managed not to kill this semi-out-of-shape old man. But, it’s clear he is in better shape than I. Here are a few photos.
Ready to ride
Yep, we’ve been riding uphill for quite a while … yep, those are bison ahead. I am too tired to outrun them at this point. My hope was that they would take pity on me and not chase me down.
We made it to the top of a hill. That’s the Wasatch Front in the background. Most of the rest of the trip was downhill.

If this commercial played on TV, I must have missed it.
On a tangential note (and a completely skippable one), one of the shots in the movie appears to show Jane Goodall with some chimpanzees. My tech company did a co-project with her and ESRI (the Microsoft of mapping software) for an ESRI event in San Diego. Long story short, we had a party after the event and rented a sushi restaurant. It turns out .. well … let’s just say she’s not a fan of eating fish (she’s a serious vegetarian I believe). OOOPPPSS! I’m not all that sure she really likes people either, but perhaps it was an off day for her (though I ended up sneaking her out of the back of the restaurant; but that’s another story). So, the tip of the day is, if you invite Jane to dinner, don’t serve Sushi!

We are always so very grateful for your donation of any FC related items that are given away during the Saturday afternoon free raffle. Also on Saturday are the large BBQ Hot Dogs and much more, for lunch. Free refreshments daily. “This is a very rare Navy Jeep with original data plate and all numbers match. The drive train has been rebuilt and the sheet metal is rust free and nearly perfect condition. I am 75 and not able to complete the painting and final assembly. I have a new wiring harness and all the parts. Needs to be put back together. I have over $10,000 invested. Not the data plate list frame number and engine number. This Jeep came from a U.S. base in Japan and the body was very rusted. I purchased the very best 1955 CJ3B I could find for the body. Price: $3,500 or best offer”

“I am reluctantly offering up my 1948 Willys cj2a don’t have to sell it but putting it out there if someone is interested I received this Jeep in Fairly neglected. Motor is very strong and a little unique it has a casting of the word special on the side runs good no smoke transmission and clutch have been replaced a Novak rebuild kit was used on the transmission. Wiring has all been redone and everything functions as it should. Motor has 20 lb of oil pressure at idle and 30-40 running down the road. Transfer case is noisy but functional I was going to rebuild it at some point down the road.
The front of the frame is pretty tweaked so I also have acquired a entirely new frame with axles rebuilt brakes pretty much all ready to go to swap everything on to. Pretty much everything has been fixed does have some rust under the toolbox and a little bit in the front floors. I didn’t do anything to the body because I thought it has great patina and looks good as it is. Lots of stuff has been done to this Jeep feel free to message me if you have some questions or want to get some more specifics. It comes with a clear title in my name and has a brand new bestop tiger top installed. $4800.00”
