The seller’s description suggests this was originally a Surrey DJ-3A. There is some pink on the inside. Appears to be a good price.
“This is a rare Willys Model DJ-3A. Originally was pink with pink and white striped interior. Top is a Super rare steel Koenig Iron Works too from the 40’s or 50’s. It has roll up door windows and window sliders on the sides and a hatch back”

“CJ2A hardtop full length, needs some work no doors but is a great start for someone, $100 or trade for other parts. Looking for an engine and front seats”
Interesting that this has New Mexico plates. If it spend most of its life in NM, it may be pretty solid.

A big thanks to Ted Jordan for making and sharing these scans. When Hubart A. Kelly initially purchased the D. L. Beck Manufacturing Company, which produced CJ-2A hardtops, initially the cab company was called Kemco. At the time Beck was still a working partner at the company. This rare four-page brochure was produced at that time. Not too much later, Kemco was officially became the Kelly Manufacturing Company and Kemco disappeared.
These are the interior two pages.
This is the Dealer’s Confidential Price list:
And here is what the rest of us would likely have paid:
Ted Jordan also shared this early Kelly Manufacturing Hardtop Brochure. Note that the brochure mentions Kemco on the front page, which suggests this was printed shortly after the name was changed to Kelly.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3420.
(02/16/2020) This has three data plates, so it is likely earlier than the listed year of 1949. Looks like it’s got a Porter & Reed hardtop.
“1949 Willys complete last time it runs smoked a little bit !”
This jeep has a couple neat features. It’s got an interesting spare tire/back bumper set up and it’s still has the Cutlas operation sticker within the glove box (alas, the cutlas hubs aren’t on it anymore).

“This Jeep is the cleanest unrestored 1957 around. No cancer!!! !! Original paint. Has dealer option hard top and doors that have NEVER been removed. Jeep was ordered with a snow plow but plow has since been lost.
Original 1/3 2/3 front seat. Factory “ Willys all range “ overdrive. with original 3 speed trans. This Jeep never came with a roll bar or a rear seat. Rear cargo area is extremely clean. Original owner had a 351 Windsor installed in 1974.
When he passed away 5 years ago, the Jeep was left to his best friend who had the engine rebuilt, balanced and blue printed by a local hot rod shop. The jeep was driven approximately 500 miles since the rebuild. Just replaced the fuel line and filter as well as the the cap, rotor, points etc.. Tires are 32×11.50 BFG all terrains with at least 90% tread on 15×10 wheels.
Maybe some value here.

Runs. “New Tires, New Gas Tank, New front Glass and new battery. This jeep starts. Manual Transmission”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $550.
(12/18/2019) The top appears solid.
“WILLYS JEEP STEEL TOP WITH DOORS AND REAR GATE, FAIR CONDITION, SEE PICTURES. SHOULD FIT MB GP CJ2, ETC. TEXT”
UPDATE: Price dropped to $300. This looks to be the sliding type, based on the additional pic that shows the handle at the front of the door. Technically, this is the DJ-3A version. The CJ-5 version of the top had windows. But, I believe this would fit a CJ-5.
(07/25/2019) There’s some rust on this top, but I can’t tell how deep it is.

Steve spotted this ad. The CJ-5 runs, has a plow, a Acme hardtop, and a Warn OD. Seems worth a look.

“Original condition Willys Jeep CJ-5 showing 71k miles on the odometer. F-head 134 Hurricane 4-cylinder engine runs smooth and sweet. Three speed manual transmission, two speed transfer case, coupled to a Warn overdrive gear unit and a newer clutch. (have video of engine idling)
The jeep drives, shifts, and brakes normal. The overdrive unit, when engaged, reduces engine RPM and allows for a more road friendly vehicle. Look up Warn overdrive to get an idea of its value. (have video of driving through gears)

UPDATE: Adding to this post, there are a few examples of DJ-3As with wide windowed hardtops. It’s possible they were just using the CJ-5 hardtops. http://www.ewillys.com/2021/02/10/photos-of-a-1956-rhd-dj3a/
=================
Original post from March 17, 2020:
Mike raised a question the other day, which resulted in us learning something new. He was viewing the launch-brochure for the DJ-3A when he noticed that the Koenig-manufactured hardtop was illustrated with a small rear window. Up to that point, Mike and I and several other folks were under the impression that all these tops had the same size rear window, but in fact that was false.
Instead, it appears that in 1955, through 1946(?) and possibly into 1957, Jeep used a small window in the back of the top, before moving to a larger one. Especially with the DJ-3As, with their lack of side windows, that small window would have made backing up difficult, as it would have been hard to see anything behind the driver.
Here are the four types of hardtops of this style identified so far.
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $1700.
Not sure how much value is here. It’s got plenty of rust.
