The February 1948 issue of Popular Science included a small blurb about this custom wood jeep out of Seattle built on a WW2 chassis.
Hopefully this will find a good home.
“My Dad has owned and garage kept this WWII classic since 1974. He saw somewhere that it is numbered 350 or something like that. With Warn front hubs, he towed it as a hunting rig for many years and then used it to help him build his dream/retirement home in Hoodsport. At 90, Dad has not been able to use this fine running specimen for many years. It has sat in the garage for many years with only being run a few times a year to keep the seals moist. It has an all original drive train and motor with the exception of converting it from 6v to 12v. Dad also installed aluminum floorboards in the 70’s. We believe the original miles are only slightly more than the 25K showing. It also has a super strong WWII electric winch. Minimal rust, it leaks a little oil and the steering wheel has some play. Other that that, it runs and drives great. It’s been a part of our family but it’s time for someone else to love it like my Dad has for 43 years.”

“I have a 48 Willy’s CJ2A for sale. It has a hard top and doors, factory front passenger and rear seats, and an aftermarket heater to keep warm. It has been upgraded to a 12 volt system and currently has a 70s ford 4 cylinder engine in it. The drive train is all original and I have the original go devil engine that turns freely. I had picked up this jeep with dreams of restoring it, but life got in the way. There’s rust, and she’s got character, but overall the jeep is in running, driving, and almost stopping condition. You can put in a little time and have a cool willy’s to drive around in, or if you wanted, most of the parts and extras are there to restore to its former glory. Email me with questions or for pictures, Craigslist isn’t letting me upload them for some reason. Asking $2200 obo.”
