Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. “Rare barn find- 1949 Willy’s Jeep delivery has been sitting in a barn for 30+ years and then my garage for the past 4 years. The beast was used as a grocery delivery vehicle in the 60ish in Western Iowa. Mileage is at 68,000. Pretty rust free but the drivers side floor board is a little soft. It has new brakes, exhaust, tires, battery, and fuel line. This vehicle has the L134 Go Devil engine in it- 2WD. We had grand hopes to rebuild but it just hasn’t happened. “A 1948 Willy’s CJ2A. Jeep is in very good condition. Shows less than 18 K miles on odometer. This was a classic barn find near Audubon Iowa in 1978, and was purchased by my father and driven home. The motor was smoking badly at that time and it sat indoors in heated storage for many years. In the last few years the 4 cylinder flat head motor has been rebuilt, the 3 speed manual drive line gone thru, the brake,fuel, and cooling systems repaired/replaced.
New windshield glass. New seat cushions on all three seats on original frames. Still wears its faded and scratched “Princeton Black” 1948 paint excepting a few areas that were cleaned up as it was restored to be a turnkey driver. Factory(?) side steps All five original wheels, still in faded 1948 “Sunset Red”- which actually was a pumpkin orange- with a black trim stripe. Specs:
• Body, title, VIN, VIN plate, and original black California plates are from a 1960 Willys CJ3B. Clear title and current registration, both in my name. Tub is stretched behind the door openings; seats 4 adults. It sits on an early CJ6 frame. The wheel base is about 104″. Plenty of leg room & head room all around.
• Engine: Buick V6 225 odd-fire, about 8,000 miles on it since rebuild by previous owner; new battery, aluminum 2 core radiator, electric fan, heavy flywheel, known for allowing low rpms and good crawling,

Small block Chevy motor with electric fan. 3 speed manual.
This is a trail built jeep. It has an overdrive/underdrive in addition to the transfer case. I believe they are commonly called doublers. You can can crawl the trails which is specifically what this was built for. This is not a highway speed vehicle.
Super fun town and trail toy!
Custom built all the way. One of the coolest roll bars I’ve seen. I love the extra wide center where the CB is mounted.
It does have a soft top and doors that come with it. Dual gas tanks. Like new tires.
