1951 CJ-3A Portland, Or $2500 or trade
There’s a knock in the engine, but otherwise this might be a pretty good jeep. The pics aren’t great, but it looks like there have been suspension and frame upgrades.
“beautiful willys the only thing is is that it has a knock in the motor and have not started it in over a yeear and a half but a awesome jeep have a full soft top and doors and a bikini top but no half doors looking for a nice boat for the lake this summer/nice fishing boat/old car /nice road bike or crotch rocket/nice jet ski or two / or let me know what ya got”
Builds — David and friends
David and his friends transport themselves back in time each each fall by getting out their jeeps, heading to the woods, and cleaning brush, trees and other obstacles out of the way in preparation for winter snowmobiling in New York.
David’s owned his (the gray ’51 CJ-3A) for six years. His friends have owned their 1947 CJ-2A and 1949 CJ-3A for about 25 years. Thanks for sharing David.
Builds — Jim’s 1949 CJ-3A (Potentially for sale now)
Except for those funky turn signals on the front grille, this is a great looking stock jeep. Jim’s getting this running again and then will decide whether to sell it to someone who will love it. Otherwise, he’ll keep it and decide what to do with it.
“I pulled this CJ3A (vin 3J28941) out of a little mining town called Silverton. Its bone stock, 6 volt and appears to have never been touched, never had a roll bar, has a rare dealer installed all aluminum hardtop and doors. A little update on this rig: I rebuilt the carb, flushed the tank, blew the lines, new fuel pump etc and we got it started! Not bad for not being run for 10 years! Motor sounds excellent, no smoke, oil pressure is 60 psi! Now for a complete brake overhaul and then it will be driven for the first time in more 10 years! Anybody want to buy a rare all aluminum hardtop and doors?”
1949 CJ-3A Kelso, Wa $2500 or Trade

1953 CJ-3A Fremont, Oh eBay .. interesting top

1950s CJ-3A Elkins, NH ebay (what a sales job)
The sale job on this just cracked me up.
- Claim #1: Good Condition for it’s age and a Rareity
- Claim #2: Jeep not running, but just some stuck valves; not a big deal to fix
- Claim #3: Needs floor panels, but the frame is very solid
- Disclaimer #1: I am not an expert on this
Ergo, why does the seller make the above claims if not an expert? I mean, I know why; it’s just funny to me.

Builds — Jim’s 1951 CJ-3A Makeover

1952 CJ-3A Decatur, GA **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $10,000
I don’t think the pictures quite do this justice. Newer tires would help and finishing the restoration (parking lights for example) would help this CJ-3A.
“Massive restoration. This is the original body which has been removed from the frame, restored with zinc alloy body fill then zinc coated to prevent future rusting. Newly painted a vibrant pearl orange. The interior is done in rugged black bedliner. All seats reupholstered in a nice black vinyl. Includes the rare back seat. Black Besttop Soft Top included. New wiring harness. Warn Winch included. Two sets of wheels. One set of matching orange wheels with radials and one set of black wheels with NDT non-directional tires (old style military). Well documented restoration. See my ad on autotrader for larger pictures”
1950 CJ-3A Oxford Jct, IA **SOLD**
Here’s a running CJ-3A for only $1000. Yeah, looks like it needs some work.

1953 CJ-3A West Hills, Ca eBay
“Willys is in good shape with great running motor. Motor has Willys stamp on head, however I’m not sure if it is the original. Has an aftermarket carb, I do have original for new owner to install. Drives great and idles fine. Shifts smooth through all gears. Good power for a small flat four. Electrical has been converted to 12 volt by a past owner. Everything seems original except for the hood. I think that is an aftermarket steel hood with the Willys logo painted on. Small leak coming from front seal on the diff. Nothing major. No other leaks or issues…..”
1951 CJ-3A Stanfield, Or $2000
I need a better look at the body, but this might restore pretty well.
“1951 Jeep CJ3a. New flat head engine, new 11″ brakes and new battery. Needless to say, it runs and drives great! The little girl needs a new loving home. $2000, Mike 541-667-7237. Please call, I have limited access to the internet.”
Builds — Oklahoma Green and One Bad Apple
I was searching for an image of original CJ-3A gauges when i stumbled upon this article. Both of these are well modified, good looking road and trail jeeps. One of the more interesting features of the ‘Oklahoma Green’ Jeep is the number of gauges that are installed. One Bad Apple certainly has an usual paint job.
Here’s 2 excerpts from an Off Road Adventures Article; each one discuss a little bit about each jeep:
Oklahoma Green: “… Below the CJ3A Willys’ windshield is a dashboard that would be more than adequate in a J3 Super Cub airplane of the same vintage. The aircraft-like dash sports a full compliment of gauges: fuel, fuel pressure, oil pressure, oil temp, water temp, vacuum, and air pressure gauges along with a voltmeter, hourmeter, and altimeter by Hobbs. A Lev-O-Gauge rounds out the impressive array. Lights and buzzers backup the critical gages. From the dash, Ken can switch on the fuel pump, fast idle solenoid, headlights, heater, and winch. Indicator lights report the status of 4WD, seat belts, ARB, emergency brake, and air compressor…. ”
One Bad Apple: “… The frame was lengthened 6-inches to incorporate a GM 4.3 V6 CMFI 195 hp at 4500 rpm engine with K&N Air Cleaner and Painless Wiring, a GM 700R4 with a manual shift kit, and a Dana 300 transfer case with CV driveshaft. With 4.88 gears, the final crawl ratio is 80:1. The front axle is a Dana 30 with an ARB Air Locker and disk brakes. The rear axle is a Dana 44 with a Detroit Locker. Four-inch lift springs, an off-road track bar, and Rancho 5000 Shocks control 33×12.50 BFG Mud Terrain T/As …..”
2 1952 CJ-3As Spencer, NY **SOLD**
Purchase both CJ-3As for $900 or buy 1 for $500. Both run and go forward.
“I am selling 2 1952 jeep willys both run and drive. Great restoration projects. $500 each or $900 for both. “
1951 CJ-3A Campverde, Az $2500
UPDATE: Price dropped to $2500.
I suspect that the suspension has been modified to accomodate those tires. I’m not positive this is a CJ-3A.
“1949 willys jeep $2500 firm it is worth every penny, runs and drives geart, original flrt head 4 banger, new exhaust, seats in brand new condition, 4×4 works great, 36″ goodyear military tires, 12 volt very relieable. call dave at 602 740 8080”
1951 CJ-3A w/ trailer Sedalia, Mo $1200

“1951 willys flat fender jeep,no motor last was set up for small block chevy, stock transmision transfer case, back yoke broken off trans, suspet it was small block chevy that twisted it off, has a newer top but some but cut slashes in the back side windows of it, doors and back window still good, comes with a 1952 army trailer w/military tires, clear titles for both, also have extra pair of milatary wheels and tires, $1200.00 can see at 416 w main street in sedalia and please call 660-221-8813”
1952 CJ-3A Windsor, CO **SOLD**
This jeep likely deserves a better description. I suspect that along with tilt steering and a nice roll cage, this CJ-3A probably has a variety of other good mods. On the downside, the large diamond plating suggests that the sides may not be in the best shape (not sure why you’d put such large pieces on the sides except for that reason).”
1951 CJ-3A Scottsdale, AZ **SOLD*
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.
This is a beautiful, well done restoration of a CJ-3A.

2 Willys Jeeps Naches, Wa **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $900.
This is a great deal. The cages themselves are worth $150 a piece. I’d be willing to bet that the white jeep has my fiberglass seats in it. Get this while it lasts.
“1 jeep has a 302 Ford Transfer case needs work. 2 jeep has no Eng. or no Trans. $900 for both. Will separate or trade for CJ Parts. ”
Working Jeeps from Offroad Adventures
I’m not familiar with the “Offroad Adventures” publication. Instead, as usual, I stumbled upon it while looking for something else. It’s a compact 2 pages article with a variety of pics of cjs accompanied by different hydraulic implements. I’m not a big fan of the myvirtualpaper’s interface, but the pics are still cool.
Reader’s Builds — Jeff’s Jewel’s Flat Fender
After seeing all the interest in stainless on the website, Jeff has kindly provided us with a couple of looks at his all Jewels Flattie. It’s not just the stainless that makes this look nice, but also the accents, such as the execution of the rear bumper design. With a full cage on the inside and a winch, this jeep is quite capable of playing in the sand, the trail or wherever he wants to take it.
Jeff notes below:
“This is my Semi stainless / galvanized jewels body kit mounted on a 1952 cj3a chassis. Currently powered by a chev 153 4cyl. I also own another complete kit that I have been collecting for the last 15 years. It appears there is a lot of interest in these stainless jeeps these days.”
1951 CJ-3A Sultan, Wa $4000
I’m not much of a fan of the roll bar, but otherwise this looks like a good CJ-3A with a few extra features.
