Jack shared a couple photos from the 2022 Idaho Vintage Jeep Rally. He told me he had a great time! The funky oddball jeep on the trailer is one owned by Jack. He acquired it out of Montana about a decade ago.
There are many more pics and videos on the site’s Facebook page from this weekend.
Dana Wasserburger posted this and other photos to Facebook:
Michelle Jenkins also took a variety of photos. Here is one:
In 1969, a local group in northern Utah launched the Golden Spike Jeep Rally, an event that occurred in conjunction with the Ogden Pioneer Days in Late July. I know for sure the event took place in 1969 and 1970, but don’t know how long it lasted.
Events included hill climbs at Rainbow Gardens and an Obstacle Race at Mount Ogden Park, both Saturday and Sunday.
This photo and caption were printed in the June 27, 1969, Hill Top Times (Hill Airforce Base):
This article and photo was printed in the Ogden Standard-Examiner on July 23, 1970.
A big thanks to Tom for sending me some Willys Rally swag. He reports that he had another great time at this year’s Willys Rally! The pic below includes there printed posters from previous years that he sent me last month. The shirt fits great (I’m wearing it as I type this).
Tom shared a pic of this cool CJ-6 with a restored willys-engine-powered compressor in the back. It was at the Willys Rally.
Here’s a second pic that Tom took of the same jeep a few years ago:
Roger shared these pics from the Willys Rally
This scale-model toy jeep and trailer is really neat, too:
Thanks to Roger for sharing these photos from Saturday’s Willys Rally.
This CJ-5 has a 3-point lift:
Thanks to Chris Rutherford for shooting this video showing Friday morning at the Willys Rally. In the video I saw a few familiar folks, including Cowboy near his Jeep truck and Russ’ wagon, along with Barney manning his parts booth.
For some reason, when Chris spins the camera part way through, the video doesn’t spin, so some of the video you have to tilt your head to see. No matter, the effort is greatly appreciated!
UPDATE: Don’t forget the Willys Rally this weekend!
This year’s Midwest Willys Rally is June 03-04 this year. This event takes place at Heuston Woods State Lodge in College Corner, Ohio. Learn more here: http://www.mw-willysjeep.com.
UPDATE: Don’t forget that the Great Willys Picnic is next weekend.
This year’s Great Willys Picnic occurs June 12th, 2022.
“Sunday June 12, 2022 from 9 am – 4 pm at the Wanamaker, Kempton & Southern Railroad located in Kempton, Pennsylvania.
The Willys Picnic will be in compliance with all regulations in effect on June 12th. Be prepared for possible changes from past events.”
This past weekend was the Willys Reunion. I don’t have much in the way of photos (yet), but here is a video from the Red Eye Cafe Garage that highlights some of the jeeping and, later on, some of the vehicles that attended the reunion. One of the unexpected events was a 3AM fire drill at the hotel!
The 13th annual Willys-Overland Rally willy be held from April 29th – May 1st. It should be another great event! It looks like they will be holding it a little earlier than in the past, which should provide perfect weather (not blazing hot).
The AMVCC and Buckeye Air Fair show are working together this February in Buckeye, Arizona. The AMVCC event has been extended to three days this year. Our own Joe-in-Mesa is president-elect for the AMVCC, so make sure to say hello to him if you see him there.
Art let me know that the Spring Willys Reunion is on schedule for May 20-21. This is always a great event.
This year’s Bantam Jeep Festival will be taking place June 10-12th.
This weekend Bill Falconer and NEWJO will be hosting a swap meet and get together in Deering, NH on Saturday October 30th. There’s more information available on their FB Page: https://www.facebook.com/events/808459766507203/ … 134 Deering Center Rd, Deering, NH.
UPDATE: This event is this weekend.
Bob Christy’s 2021 Northern Ohio Flatfender Willys Gathering takes place September 12, 2021. It should be another great event!
UPDATE: Dan’s event is this weekend!
Dan’s FC Jamboree is still happening in Lake Mills, Iowa, September 10-11.
UPDATE: The Crew made it to Ontario, Oregon last night. They should have some beautiful weather for the remainder of their trip. Unfortunately, the group will not have the time to swing north to our place. Having done our fair share of trips, we totally understand and wish them luck!
On another note, I finally officiated the wedding this past Saturday. It went off with only one hitch … that would be me hitching them together 🙂 … this is why I never went into comedy … so, becoming a minister and marrying someone can now be checked off my bucket list!

Originally Post August 18th –The Epic Willys Crew (view on Facebook) has made considerable progress, reaching deep into Wyoming (last I saw). Despite several unscheduled stops (err .. breakdowns), the group has soldiered forward through temps reaching 100 degrees.
We expect they will arrive here in Prosser sometime midweek next week, so we’ve been making sure the place is ready. The small house has new floors and (hopefully, new interior paint). I’ve made progress on the shop and (again hopefully) I will have it somewhat organized by their arrival. With no heat domes forecast for next week, the weather should be warm and dry. Apart from preparations, Ann’s surgery recovery, her mother’s doc appointments, presiding over a wedding (this weekend) and unexpected dog issues have kept me from providing any eWillys updates.
Here are some pics from the Epic crew so far (in a fairly random order) …
Kyle let me know about Heritage New Jersey’s first Jeep invasion for pre-1986 jeeps. Learn more at the event’s website: https://www.njjpinvasion.com/heritagenjjpinvasion

This year marks the 55th annual Mile-Hi Jeep Club’s All-4-Fun event, a week-long event that changes locations each year. An appeal went out to the International Flat Fender Club in the hope of finding some more vintage jeeps to enjoy the experience. Registration is currently open, but closed June 30th. The cost is $500 for the week, July 31-August 7.
