1946 CJ-2A Waltham, MA $5000

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

It’s got a couple patches in the back of the body.

“Obviously, any 69 year old vehicle is a head-turner. This one does that and more. Your brain triggers, and suddenly your back in the armed forces or perhaps on your grandfathers farm. Or maybe your sitting in that sand pile with a toy jeep in one hand and GI Joe in the other.
I,ve owned this Willys for 4 years here in Massachusetts. I bought it in Georgia and had it shipped here. Its history starts from a Willys Jeep showroom in Chicago, to a farm outside the city. 1946 was the first year a civilian could purchase direct from a showroom, all before were strickly military vehicles. Available only thru military surplus outlets. From the Chicago farm it went to a “gentleman’s” farm in Georgia. This family used it for hunting deer and other animals for many years. Since bringing it here to Massachusetts, the first year, it was a daily driver to the coffee shop, then it sat as I was out of the country for 2 years. This past year, I’ve had the transmission, clutch and transfer case overhauled. I’m leaving again and want someone else to enjoy and love it as I’m not sure of when I may return.
Not shown in the pictures, but does come with it….side doors matching the roof and a “V” tow attachment for the front. Any normal pick-up can pull it with a normal trailer hitch.
Lots more to say, if your serious, email me your number for me to call or sit and write me what your concerns are.”

UPDATE: Robert’s 1942 GPW

• CATEGORIES: Builds, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

You may remember Robert’s 1942 GPW from this post last year. Since then his father and he have repowered their modified GPW.

robert-wilson-10

Robert writes, It has been about 18 months since I wrote you about the GPW project that my father and I found on your website in 2010. You were kind enough to feature the build of our Willys last time. Since then we have made some drastic changes that I think you may enjoy.

Things got out of hand last November when a simple craigslist browse lead to the purchase of a B&M 144 Supercharger from Ohio. Initially, we were not sure if the blower would find its way into the GPW, and decided to bore out a 350 that we had lying around. The plan was to build a supercharged 383 stroker for fun, and then decided what vehicle to install it in. As you may imagine the longer we had the blower in the garage the more inclined we were to see it tentatively installed in something, and the GPW was the easiest option. We pulled the 400 SBC and installed the 350 with no internals, but the blower on top to see how it looked. The result was amazing, and we decided that the Willys was going to get a new motor!

robert-wilson-1

Installing a small block chevy with a blower in a Willys that came with a 4 cylinder comes with numerous obvious and unforeseen hurdles. For instance the blower is a bit taller than a traditional intake manifold, and consequently the hood would not close. Therefore, we moved the motor mounts down which actually helped the center of gravity! This alone did not clearance the blower, carburetor, and air cleaner though. However, we were undaunted, and decided that the only remaining option was to cut a hole in the hood and stuck the air cleaner out!

robert-wilson-2 robert-wilson-6

After we figured out how to fit the motor in up and down we decided to address the issue of front to back. The position of the motor already had the HEI distributor close to the firewall so there was no room to move the engine backwards, and the snout on the blower was too long for us to fit the single core radiator before the grill. Therefore, we completely removed the radiator from the engine compartment, and installed a new 3 core aluminum radiator on the roll bar behind the seats! We had to customize all of the plumbing for the cooling system, and my uncle assisted us with a very special bender borrowed from a former custom off-road shop. In addition to the bent aluminum portion we ran the same flexible lines along the frame rails that you can find on monster trucks. Continue reading

1948 CJ-2A Austin, TX **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-2A This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000

It’s a project. Seller is convinced it is rare, so it must be worth a lot. Has non stock engine.

“I’m selling this rare Jeep Willy CJ-a because my father has pancreatic cancer with only two months left to live. We’ve been treating it as an amazing project, but as you can see, it isn’t finished.

It runs well. It needs general check-up, brake shoes, wipers, and fuel float. Other parts are in excellent to good condition.  However, the motor isn’t true to the vehicle itself – It is a 1974 Ford Mustang Pinto’s engine. This is compatible and runs well.

Depending on your tastes, it might need to be repainted and a new cover. The selling price is $7,500 OBO. We will accept best offers but, please do try to not low-ball us. We are aware of how rare it is. It will come with two Jeep Willy CJ-a manuals.”

Has a custom diamond-plate bed.

“We are moving and have decided to sale this old truck. The truck was running last year but needs the carborator cleaned and some new gas. Not sure if it needs a new carborator or not because it has been setting for over a year. We had it 90% restored a few years back. We also have a 1958 Jeep Willy’s for parts that we will let go with the sale of the 1963. All parts on 1958 can be used on 1963. The 1958 (parts truck) is missing the bed to the truck but has motor. The 1963 (Truck shown in pictures) has it’s original Title and still has the original drive train so top speed is about 45mph. It also has a custom galvanized bed that is specified to the original bed that came on the original truck. The engine is a Super Hurricane 232 flathead 6 cylinder.
