1952 M-38A1 Clovis, CA **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: M-38A1 • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3800

I thought this was interesting due to the aftermarket dash and the doors. I haven’t seen the dash used very often in the M-38A1s or CJ-5s.

“I haven’t been able to post pics. But I have some. The jeep needs in my opinion minor body work. It has a dodge fireball v6 engine that runs. It has hydraulic pump and lines that run a very powerful wench. With a little work this WILLYS could be rock climbing or cruising in no time. I’m selling because it was a project me and my grandfather had been working on but we both don’t have much time for it and he needs some money and I want to put some money down on a used Harley.”

1953 CJ-3B Longview, WA **Status Unknown**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was $2500. Never heard of the ‘3 year grace period’ and nothing online to verify it.

(03/26/2014) “1953 cj3b. we bought this jeep as a project that we couldn’t pass up because the body is so solid on it. it was going to take very little work to make nice. the previous owner set the body on a cj5 frame, with centered dana 44 rear axle and drum brake dana 30 front.

it’s got a gm column with a power steering box
it has a rebuilt turbo 350 transmission adapted to a dana 20 transfer case.
it had a Chevy motor in it when previous owner had it.
it’s got new seats in it but I don’t know what they are.
it has Rancho lift springs under it..
also includes power brake booster and master cylinder.

the title is under a 3 year grace period, probably a coupe years left. I can explain this better over the phone, but don’t let this scare you as selling and buying with this is not an issue. basically when the 3 years is up the dmv issues current owner a title. we had this inspected by the Washington state patrol.”

<– Day 13 – Apr 1st: From Scottsdale AJs to Seligman Sundries | OVERVIEW | Day 15 Apr. 3rd: Joshua Tree National Park –>

2014-04-02-california

We left Arizona and entered California under a few dark clouds.

On Wednesday we began the morning by driving to the Route 66 Museum at the old power station in downtown Kingman.

2014-04-02-kingman-route-66-oatman-map

Map of our drive on Wednesday April 2

On our way, there were more classic motels, but one in particular caught our attention. There was much more going on at this hotel — murals and themed rooms — but our photos didn’t turn out very good.

2014-04-02-kingman-el-travatore

After many photographs, we finally made it to the two floor power station. Downstairs you’ll find a gift shop and visitor’s center. Upstairs is the entrance to the museum where we purchased our tickets. The cashier was an older gentleman who at first seemed gruff and bothered by our presence, but then warmed up as he got into a short presentation about how the tickets we purchased were good for three museums in the area. We also learned that active military folks get in free.

The museum tour starts with a history of the trail which proceeded the route. One of the first things I spotted was a photograph of a jeep from 1943. It’s the only jeep I saw in the place.

2014-04-02-kingman-route-66-museum-photo

From there, more history unfolded: the need for good roads, the construction of Route 66, and the success of the towns following WWII, until the opening of Interstate 40 in 1984.

2014-04-02-kingman-route-66-museum1

These maps showed chunks of the early highway with some interesting information.

In the middle of the Route 66 history is a large diorama that shares Steinbeck’s Grapes of Wrath and his use of Route 66 in the book.

Hank’s Dually Adapters. Anyone recognize them?

• CATEGORIES: Features, Parts This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Hank writes, “I bought a jeep five or so years ago and I am finally getting around to get her running. I was just wondering if anybody out in the jeep world has ever seen this set up before. I believe the rear is a Dana 44, but it has about 4″ extensions on it to make room for the duel wheels. I am looking for another set of rims. They are 16″ split rim with five holes. I am thinking they came off of a FC but am not sure.”

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3975.

(03/12/2014) It appears solid.

“1950 CJ3A JEEP flat fender, complete and running! This Jeep has it’s original drivetrain, however it is believed that the engine has low miles since overhauled. It has been converted to GM 12v but still has the manual solenoid floor switch. It is a civilian model, has a factory heater, has had rust issues repaired, has new brakes and new 30″ tires. Seats have been reupholstered in military canvas and it has a matching bikini top…NOTE: Top and seats not shown in posted photos, will forward more current photos to prospective buyers. This Jeep could use a little attention on the wiring updates as it still has much of the old fabric wrapped wiring. Did I say it runs and drives? Clear title and tow bar included. Perfect for parades and cruising!”
