Original engine Does not currently run, may be stuck, haven’t tried to turn yet. Disassembly was begun ( grill, hood, windshield and right fender removed). Needs tires. Needs some typical floor work but is really in decent condition. This jeep is worth the work. I will not part it out, I will keep it instead. $2500, no title or registration, bill of sale only.”

Our day began unexpectedly. While driving to get some coffee Ann noticed a guy in a 3rd story hotel window changing clothes with his back/butt to the window, and I mean almost pressing up against the window. The morning sun was shining right on the window, so he wasn’t hard to see. What happens in Garden City, stays in Garden City?
As we drove to our first destination, Monument Rocks, I learned I was in trouble. It turns out, Ann had a dream about me accepting a job to do a reality show with Trump and Kelly Ann Conway. Kelly and I had to pretend we were married. For some reason, Ann wasn’t happy about this arrangement. Thankfully, her short term memory is awful and, once I found some caffeine for her, she’d forgot all about it.
We had a problem as we drove north. Neither my iPhone nor our Jeep’s nav system was giving us the proper turnoff road for Monument Rocks. I’d mapped out several times on my computer, so I knew approximately where the turn off was (there are actually two of them, but the southern one doesn’t have any signs along the highway). Fortunatley, Ann tried her Android and it found the turn off just in time. (for those traveling from the south, turn right on Dakota, just across from the Keystone Gallery. Dakota becames 450, then Elk, then Gove E, then turn left — north — on Gove 16).

The chalk formations are on private land and several signs ask visitors not to climb the cliffs. The early morning sun and blue skies made for some neat photos.
This appears to have one of the late model Worman Jee-Cabs. Not amnion these around. The rear of the top looks custom to me.

“1954 Willys CJ3B. Great project. Extremely solid and straight. Has arctic hardtop. Engine and seats are missing but everything thing else is there. Find another 134 “F” head or perfect for a v6 or V8 conversion. Last driven in 1976. Stored under a carport for a majority of the time since then. It will be hard to find a better CJ3B to restore than this one. Has not been abused or molested like a most. If the ad is up it’s for sale. No trades too many projects already.”

“Good running Jeep Willys for sale. 283 Chevy Small Block engine. Has after market solid tubed frame. YJ leaf springs custom mounted. Custom fabricated front and rear bumpers with hitch receiver. Has original transfer case and trans in it. I have a SM420 trans with all the parts to make it new in a bin that I will throw in with it. Also have a hard top and doors that will go with it. Jeep runs and drives. Have title in hand. It does need a custom drive shaft made for front still as suspension drops out to far for the original to work. I still have the original drive shaft and a few other misc parts I will throw in with it. 4×4 does work. Has a inside floor heater in it as well that works. “Selling my baby. It’s a stock 1953 Willys high hood. My daily driver for 5 months out of the year. A true survivor. The only thing that isn’t stock is the hubs. Original pto winch, engine, hard top, factory heater, 6 volt system, and many extra parts including engine block and tranny.
Runs and drives excellent and a ton of fun. This jeep is completely unmolested. You won’t find another like this and if you do it would cost a lot more than $5,500. It is also licensed as a collector (no more tab fees) Pictured with a period trailer that i will sell with the jeep for an additional $500. Price is firm. “I have a 1946 Willy’s Jeep cj2a. This is a great start to an easy project.
-350 v8 motor that’s in running condition
-400 tranny that matches up to it it’s automatic
-body has no rust anywhere to be fond and minimal surface rust that I’m sanding away today.
-the rear axle is out of a yota to match up to the Chevy 350.
-air ride suspension is hooked up in the rear and in great shape.
-the tires are more roaster stlyle tires and they are near brand new.
-the brakes need worked on because they have very low pressure and don’t work well enough for road worthiness and a new fuel pump and fuel lines hooked up to be running driving and stopping as is. I’m going to be working on it periodically and as I do more work to it the price will increase.”

Hanging out with a local in Dodge City. It seems I wore the right shirt today.
Day 35: We spent Saturday driving north from Clinton, Oklahoma, to Garden City, Kansas. Unbeknownst to us most of the day, we were roughly following (from Clinton to Dodge City) an old cow drive trail called the Great Western Cattle Trail. Our route:

We began the morning with one last Route 66 task: visit the Clinton Route 66 Museum. The outside of the building was cleverly done as a vintage-looking Route 66 motel:
Inside the lobby, we found signs, a car, gas pumps, and other items.
To enter the museum portion, it costs $7. Once paid, visitors enter through a set of doors. Among the sights that greet visitors is this large map showing Route 66, along with some early history of road as it relates to Oklahoma. The museum claims that Oklahoma has more original road than any other state. That certainly seemed like a legitimate claim given the length of the road within Oklahoma..
