“This “Barn Find” is a 1947 Willys custom jeep! The original builder and owner worked as an engineer at SAC and also owned a Suds and Dogs restaurant. At one time it was a plow truck for winter and has a pto on the back for mowing grass in the spring and summer. Rusty!! Needs restoring. The motor is not original it is a ford falcon 6 seems to be stuck. Have no Idea about the transmission but do know that the drive shaft will spin if you lift the tires off the ground. “I have a M38A1 Jeep that I need to let go. I’m not going to lie, it needs work. The body has a lot of rust from sitting on the west side most of its life. It has been converted from 24V to 12V, but the rewire job is not complete. It comes with two motors. The original motor needs barrings and has been removed. The motor in it is from a ’47 Jeep and only has 30k miles on it. It is a project and as much as I would like to invest the time and money, I lack both. There is NO TITLE and it will need to be towed away. Will consider all reasonable offers.”

UPDATE (09/10/2013): Brian shared these pics of a Surrey with a Kelly hardtop. He bought the hardtop, but not the jeep.See Brian’s pic and info underneath the pink surrey hardtop photos.
Unfortunately, there’s no description. Only the date of July 1965.

(09/11/2013) Brian sent this photo of the door after it was sand blasted.
(09/11/2013) Bruce forwarded this photo of the surrey without the top.
(09/10/2013) Brian’s photos of a 1961 DJ-3A Surrey:
Brian writes, “It’s not the same Jeep. My top has never had an i.d. tag on it which i always thought was odd. When i bought the top, the Jeep was only in Florida for a year or two at the time. Before that it was in Virginia where it had spent most of it’s life, the same State that the top was built in. The story was something like: a lady bought the Surrey new in ’61 and then (i think) it was sold to a serviceman around the time of Vietnam. He put the Jeep in storage and it sat there for well over 30 years, hence why it was in such good shape. I can’t remember who had the top put on it.
I found two more pics that show a bit of the pink paint, in the rear cargo area some is showing on the ribs and the front floor shot shows a line of pink around the body seam. I had underhood pics that showed alot of pink paint that the cheaper paint didn’t adhere too well to but i can’t find them.“
UPDATE: This is in Nebraska and not Illinois as I originally reported.
It doesn’t run, but it appears pretty solid.

Mitch just found this rare jeep in a Washington State field.
He writes, ” It’s a 1966 CJ-6 with a factory 192 Perkins Diesel. Picked it up out of a farmers field just outside of Asotin, Wa. Complete and rust free minus a radiator and some front end damage from running into the back of something. 2/3- 1/3 front bench, full Meyer hard top, rear seat, even has the factory jack and lug wrench in the tool box under the seat…lol… Didn’t even know they had those. The owner had to be in his late seventies or early 80’s so some of the history was fuzzy. He thought it had been there 7 or 8 years but the last registration was from 77……Which makes me wonder if the 9,xxx some miles on the odometer might actually be correct.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay
