“1944 Press Photo Lt. Gen. Walter Kredger Gets In Jeep With Lt. Gen. Eichelberger. This is an original press photo. Lt. Gen. Walter Kredger, commander of the 8th Army, gets in his jeep while Lt. Gen. Robert L. Eichelberger, who commanded the American forces furing the Papuan campaign, scrambles for a back seat. The two officers were making a tour of an advanced base in the Southwest Pacific after Lt. Gen. Kredger made the presentation of the “Streamer” award to the headquarters I Corps of the 6th Army, which was cited for its outstanding performance in repulsing the enemy on Papua, July 23rd, 1942, to January 23rd, 1943. Thanks to Joe-in-Mesa for spotting, then buying/mailing me this great find out of an antique shop. He snagged it for $35. I’m happy with that price. It needs one of the windshield support arms fixed and some repainting, but otherwise it is in good shape.
After doing some research on eBay, I’ve discovered this one is a little different than the ones listed there or on the CJ-3B page. Those all seem to have a central hole in the back that’s used for pulling a trailer (see examples at the bottom of the post). Instead of a hole, this one has two slots (I found one other with two slots).

Willys America’s open house is this coming weekend (Saturday July 14th 10am to 4pm). Dan Bowermaster will be leading the caravan from San Francisco to the event in Cazadero. Blake is looking for some replacement side panels for a CJ-6 project he has, but can’t located any replacement panels for the 20″ spacer installed into the body. Anyone know of either a template or someone that makes them?

“WWII Army Pictorial Service Soldiers Jeep Photographer Theater Press Real Photo
MEASURES: 3.5 inches by 5 in.
CONDITION: shows some wear (some staining)”
This mixer was featured in the 1949 Willys Overland Equipment Book. It was manufactured by Hertzler and Zook, a company established in 1899 out of Belleville, Pennsylvania, that manufactured an array of machinery and farm implements. There are still a few catalogs left out there, such as this 1926-27 catalog for sale at Abe Books.

Gayland recently visited the U.S. Army’s Transportation Museum at Joint Base Langley-Eustis and shared these photos. Ann and I drove right past there, but didn’t have time to stop. I will have to visit there the next time I’m visiting my cousin in Virginia.

These documents were in a late 1940s Willys Overland binder.
There seems to be a very slight difference between the two sprayer packages offered by Field Force Manufacturing. One package used a pump with stainless steel non-magnetic plungers that gave the pump higher capacity and more pressure capability. It weighed slightly more, too.
Maury has assembled a useful Warn Hub thread. I’ve been meaning to write a Warn article, but have yet to get to it. The warn hubs can be confusing, as the Warn Locking Hub, Lock-O-matic Hub, and Automatic hub all look similar.
