International Women’s Day & the New Willys Toys eBay Page

• CATEGORIES: Features, Old Images, Women & Jeeps • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

Just a couple posts tonight due to a site issue I’m puzzling through.  Don’t forget to check out the latest jeeps for sale on ebay here and check out the new Willys Toys eBay Page.  Not only are the lists fun to browse (at least I enjoy them), but every time you click, you are supporting eWillys 🙂

Roberto pointed out that it was International Women’s Day and shared some old pictures of women and their jeeps, some you might have seen and others you might not have.  The first one is a picture I found on Flickr.

The Selouki 1/4 Ton Truck Model 4WD-25T

• CATEGORIES: Features, Other 4x4s This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE:  CapnJohn obtained the following info related to Selouki:

We don’t have a photo of the front of this vehicle but this manual covers the Selouki 1/4 Ton Truck model 4WD-25T.This Jeep like vehicle was produced by Highway Products Inc, Kent, Ohio.

Highway Products, Inc., Kent, Ohio was formed by Joseph Thomas ‘Joe’ Myers in 1960 to manufacture truck bodies for specialty markets such as mobile post offices. In addition to mail trucks and mobile post offices the company also manufactured small boats for both military and commercial use, missile launchers and engines. In 1968 Highway Products introduced a 25-passenger bus and sold it under the Twin Coach name. Joe Myers sold the company to Alco Standard in the early 1970s. Alco Standard bought the Cortez Motor Home line of products and manufactured the motor homes in the Kent, OH production facilities of Highway Products. Approximately 900 buses were built under the Twin Coach name when production stopped in October, 1975, due to bankruptcy. Joe Myers also served as the President of the Davey Tree Expert Company and was married to John Davey’s granddaughter, Marilyn Davey.

Glenn spotted this unusual manual.

Hanging at Herm’s during Sunday’s Swapmeet

• CATEGORIES: Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I wanted to thank Marty and Herm for sharing  some warm and dry space for Sunday’s swap meet in Puyallup,  so stop by and say hello.    I’ll be more specific about our location after we visit Saturday for the setup.

I’ve got signs, books, and maybe event some t-shirts (if Ann and I can perfect the emulsion process, which is proving slightly problematic).  Ann got some shirts and a jacket embroidered for the event, so it will be easy to spot us.  I will also have some examples of the Dolan’s posters, too.

Here are our embroidered shirts:

Seeking a 1947 CJ-2A sold in 1996

• CATEGORIES: Features, wanted This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

JJ is looking for the following jeep:

“I bought this 1947 CJ2A in 1996 from a guy named Martel south of Chicago in Palos Park, Illinois for $600 and sold it for $600 in 1997 for $600 to an elderly gent who was from the area east of where I lived in Tinley Park, Illinois. It had been well restored before I owned it but financial problems and mechanical inexperience back then in my misspent youth prevented me from proper upkeep. It was painted a metalflake emerald green and sported a unique front bumper and a vent cover in front of the drivers side on the front panel. I have no record of the serial number from the engine block and it had no title. I was wondering if anyone had seen it? Ever?”

Marx Jumpin Jeep **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: Features, toys This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on Etsy for $40.

” have for sale an old windup toy called the Jumpin Jeep by Marx.. It is tin and from the late 1940’s after the war. It has been well played with and does have quite a bit of rust. The jeep, the front tires and one large tire isn’t that bad and the lithograph design is in good condition with minor rust. There is one large tire that needs to be replaced or repainted. The toy looks as though it was left outside laying on its side with one back tire perhaps in the dirt for some time. The bottom of the toy also shows signs of rust. The key is still present but it has been overwound. It moves a little but I can’t wind it. Overall I would rate it good simply because the lithos are still in pretty decent shape. The size of the toy is 5 1/2″ long about 4 1/2″ tall and 4″ wide from back tire to back tire”

Here’s pictures of a couple other jumping jeeps that realized $210 at auction in 2008.

There’s another example at the CJ-3B Page, too.

GPA Model Plans at Etsy $8

This looks cool.

“These model car plans were taken from a book printed in the 1950s. Great for framing and numerous paper crafts. The plans are original and in good vintage condition. The image measures 5.5″ x 8″ and would look good in a 5″ x 7″ mat or frame. I’ll always include a gift in your order, (always vintage, of course) because presents make me happy.”

Ted’s Glass Bottle Jeep Clock

• CATEGORIES: Artists/Drawings, Features This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

A friend of Ted’s is an artist who creates clocks out of melted bottles.  Ted asked him to make this unusual jeep clock.  I’m sure Tom will make one for you if you are interested.

Tom writes, “For the most part the bottle bottom fold sup, if the bottom has an indent in the bottle, which is found on smaller bottles, it will melt straight down. The type used on Ted’s bottle basically comes out the same.  The bottle can be mounted either horizontally or vertically.  The vertical bottles have the neck wrapped so they can be hung.  The clocks are battery operated.  It takes 12 hours to melt one bottle and about 35% of them break while drilling the hole for the clock arms. The cost is generally $35 to $40 plus shipping and sales tax.”

Here is Tom’s bottle.  Below that is an example of another clock.

Mike forwarded these pictures of a Good Humor Ice Cream Truck in need of restoration.

Mike writes, “How about this for a unique Willys Jeep Vehicle: A Willys Jeep Good Humor Truck.  There were a few of these running around NJ back in the 1960’s. A few years ago, I was able to track one down in PA. The owner was in the process of restoring it. As of last year, he had run out of time and money.”

Merlin shared the unusual find with me today.  There is picture of another one at the CJ-3B Page.

“This is a Bantam BRC Syrocowood paperweight.  As far as we know these were given out by Bantam to officers testing the Bantam Jeeps.  I found this one sitting in a local antique shop!”

=======================

After seeing this post, Josh forwarded me a picture of his syrocowood Bantam paperweight that includes an image of his tank syrocowood too.  He wrote, “I’ve been collecting those bantam paperweights for years.  They are syrocowood and should have a little sticker gold and black on the bottom that says ‘Made in the USA SYROCOWOOD SYRACUSE NY’.   Here’s one of a pen holder I have, also I a few tanks; one of the tanks a pipe holder.”

The new eBay section

• CATEGORIES: Features, Unusual • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

There are thousands of Willys and Jeep items over at eBay, but I’ve never had a chance to create the scripts necessary to sort and list them.  However,  support from readers allowed me to create multiple ebay-related sections that I think you’ll enjoy looking at as much as I have.   You can get to them from the “eBay Listings” image at the top of the right column.

Now, even if I don’t do updates, you can still review hundreds of updated listings from ebay without having to go through ebay searches.

This is the only update tonight (Sunday Night).

BTW, check out this odd ball ebay listing:

Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum

• CATEGORIES: Features, Museums • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

I’d never heard of the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, located in McMinnville.  However, Ann visited there a few years ago and says it’s a beautiful museum.  Moreover, there is a B-52 there that they allowed her to go underneath so she could describe how they used to load and unload weapons.  The Spruce Goose is also there.

Besides all the airplanes, the museum also has a jeep.  This picture was taken by Joe Swallia on 2011.  Note the hubs.  They looks like early Warn hubs.

Interestingly, here is a picture from 2010 which shows a different jeep. You can view it at The Wander Gossage blog.  Maybe there are two jeeps there?
