“Selling 1962 Willys Wagon. This is a good running wagon.
Engine: Chevy 4.3 V6. Carbureted, Quadrajet. Apx. 50,000 miles since new.
Transmission: Turbo 350 Apx. 1,000 miles since rebuild.
Warren overdrive: Apx. 1,000 miles since rebuild.
T-18 transfer case: Apx. 1,000 miles since rebuild.
Drive shafts: Apx. 1,000 miles since rebuild.
Rear differential: Apx. 1,000 miles since major rebuild.
Front differential: Original. In very good condition.
Front & rear differential have 4:10 gear ratios.
Brakes: New shoes, wheel cylinders and new master cylinder. Apx. 1,000 miles.
Steering: Original.
Aluminum radiator.
Needs some minor body work and paint. Needs headliner.”

“It is a very correct Nut and Bolt Restoration. The Restoration is now several years ago and it shows some wear here and there. It has a Snorkel and a high Exhaust System and all Components are there for fording. It comes with a Military Radio with a tall Antenna as well as a Canvas Top, side Covers and Doors. Though the Doors show some age, they could be original. Further it has a Siren, Primer Pump, Heater, (not installed), Fire Extinguisher, Grease Pump, Shovel and Axe, as well as a Spare Tire and a 5 Gal. Jerry Can. The Willys starts right away and drives fine. It has the correct 24 Volt System. The Body is original, not a reproduction, it is very straight, solid and without any patch Panels. The Engine, Transmission and Transfer Case are in very good condition. The Brakes have been serviced recently and the Brake Fluid has been replaced with Silicone Fluid. It has been meticulously restored several years ago and now shows signs of usage. It would be a great addition for a Car Collector or Military Memorabilia Collector. Those arrows barely missed us!

Today we drove from Salt Lake City, Utah, to Durango, Colorado. Brisk winds hounded us over our entire route. At one point as we approached Moab a huge dust devil stacked with tumbleweeds blew across the road in front of us; what a spectacular site! I’m really glad it didn’t blow into us!!

Needless to say, the winds squashed any desire we had to jump out and take photos. Besides, we’ve capture the look and feel of this area, as well as the jeeps, during our 2013 trip when we photographed the CJ-2A on Ivan’s sign just south of Moab and the jeep that sits atop Hole in the Rock.

I’d pretty much given up on photos, but then we spotted two jeeps and a bunch of arrows. The winds had subsided, so we got some pics while the shooting was good.

The first jeep I spotted was this CJ-2A, which appeared to be a VEC. It sits off the Colorado State Highway 160 just east of Mesa Verde National Park (which we decided not to visit due to the winds and the fact that we’d both been there).

The next jeep we spotted was this CJ-2A in Manco, Colorado. It’s on the east side of town along the main street.

“This is the classic Willys CJ2A that represents the first year the CJ (Civilian Jeep) was introduced (after wartime production). It has been restored and runs beautifully. Not a bit of rust. All new wiring, all new brake system, rebuilt starter, rebuilt transfer case, all new gauges, all new 12V electrical parts (converted from original 6V by previous owner), new muffler, just about everything new. Odometer wasn’t working so not sure of mileage. Clean title. Needs some minor work including horn, windshield wiper motor and some other little things. It doesn’t have a top (there were no tops/doors back then except a bimini style). I don’t recommend this vehicle for young drivers since there are no seat belts or roll bar (also not invented then). This jeep is worth twice what I am asking.”

Was told that it ran 5 years ago. I couldn’t get it to turn over, it’s stuck. Has some rust in the floor. Can be fixed easily, because it’s all in flat areas. And needs seats recovered.”
