Lots of changes to this rig.
“This 1946 Willys CJ2A has been highly modified, and is street leagle, and registered . It has had a new tub fabricated and stretched 28 inches as well as the frame being stretched. It has 3/4 ton Chevy truck axles geared to 5:13 ratio, a Sm 465 transmission with hydrolic clutch and a new 30 Pound clutch plate, and new clutch. It has 2 transfer cases, a Dana 203 in front of a Dana 205, utilizing a North West Fab Fully clockable adapter housing and a triple levered cable shifter. A recently installed 4.3 Gm fuel injected engine, and power steering, power brakes, tilt steering column, air compressor, and disc brakes.
It’s missing steps at the very least.
“This is a 1947 Willys Jeep CJ2A. The Jeep runs and drives great. I did a frame up restoration completed about 5 years ago. The jeep is 90% original, the only changes were a 12 volt alternator, 2 1/2″ superlift left springs, 1 1/4″ lift shackles, a welded rear end out of a 1945 MB and a one piece windshield. I still have the original shackles and the original rear end. It has the original flathead four cylinder rebuilt, original T90 three speed transmission and transfer case. New break master cylinder last year. I have the original tailgate but is has not yet been restored(it’s it decent shape). These jeeps fully restored go for over $10,000. Someone with some mechanical know how and body work skills could have this back to that with not much money and a little TLC. The jeep currently has a broken rear axle but the original axle will go with the jeep. The original axle has not been restored. I was going to make this into an off roader but decided it was too rare to chop up. The tires and wheels shown are not going with the jeep. I’m asking $4,000.00 O.B.O. Text or call 517 three 98 240 six”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000

(11/03/2013) Sean saw this one in person. I agree that there isn’t much CJ-V35U left. He wrote, “It is in good shape overall except the fuel tank had rusted out. Not much makes it a v35/u in terms of specialized parts. The seller is selling it for the widow of friend and her kids have ridiculous expectations on the price. So right now he cant talk her down below 8k.”

If you are looking for a solid cage, this price is cheaper than making one.
“This was taken out of a 1947 Jeep Willy that was a rock crawler project. That project never happened, so I’m selling the custom roll cage that was made for it. I believe it will fit many other Jeeps and years and can be easily modified for a Samurai or something similar. It is made from 2″ tubular metal pipe and is structurally in great shape. Could use a good cleaning and paint though. Here are some measurements that may help you determine if it is what you want.
Front to Back of cage measured from the base – 71″
Side to Side measured from front part of base – 50″
Side to Side measured from rear part of base – 54″
Height measured from middle of roll cage – 47″
Windshield opening Width – 21.5″
Windshield opening Height – 44.5″
Cab opening Width – 3′
Cab opening Height – 39″
Side plates on the back base Width – 10″
Side plates on the back base Length – 33”
This might be worth a look.

Off Limits was a 1953 movie staring Bob Hope and Mickey Rooney. I’ve never seen the movie, but blogger Robby Cress has seen it and likes it. A couple years ago he authored about a chase scene that involved a military police jeep driven by Mickey Rooney that chased a car driven by Bob Hope. Filmed in several Los Angeles Neighborhoods, Cress tracks down some of the old locations, pinpoints them, and compares them to their 2012 counterparts. The photos include shots of the jeep, which is painted in a Constulabary style with a stripe that drapes widely over the cowl, before flowing down and along the side of the jeep to its rear in one large wide stripe. Here are other derivations of the Constulabary paint style.
Here’s the entire post: http://dearoldhollywood.blogspot.com/2012/07/off-limits-1953-film-locations.html
These are a few of the jeep related photos taken (I assume) from the video:
I’ve never seen a photo of a GPA used as an ambulance. But, apparently this one was carrying wounded soldiers from the front.
Deborah spotted this great old photo of the Alaska Canadian (Al-Can) Highway in progress on Facebook. More info on the Al-Can.

This photo forwarded by Marc shows a large number of M-38s awaiting shipment. The curious item is the date: 1961. Is it possible the photo was from some earlier date, but never published until 1961? Or did someone mean to stamp 1951?
Eric is in the New York area and is looking for an SM420 Transfercase Adapter. Does anyone have a used one they are interested in selling? You can email him at schwartz.eric.b@gmail.com.
It appears solid, but there have been a few alterations from stock.
“1952 Willys CJ3A. In good condition for its age. This jeep sat for a couple decades prior to my starting with it about 5 years ago. Currently runs and drives well (for a 1952). No engine/mechanical issues. Probably one of the best condition original engine jeeps of this era you will find. It is right at the spot where you could either go for a restoration or a crawler build, or do what I did and run it just as is. Currently has the rear swing out tire carrier, the roll bar (not stock on Jeeps this old) and the removable rear seat.
Its not one I have to sell, but I haven’t driven it must in the last couple years, and I would like the garage space. I may be interested in a trade for the right road motorcycle or maybe something else interesting let me know what you have. I have a current clean title in hand ready to transfer. Text or email is the best way to reach me as I can’t answer my phone while at work during the day, but if you do call leave a message and I’ll get back to you. Thanks for looking.”
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $4000.
