“”Willy” as he’s known, is a 1962 Jeep Fleetvan built for the postal service by Willys up in Toledo, OH. They only built 100 of these trucks so this is one of literally a handful that are still out there. Not only that but this one has been built from the ground up with a small block 350 engine mated to a turbo 350 tranny and a camaro rear end. Starts right up and runs like a champ with plenty of power for this little mail truck. Could actually be a daily driver if you don’t mind that there aren’t many creature comforts.

1959 FC-170 Great Bend, KS **SOLD**

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay.

Dan forwarded this FC on eBay.

1959-fc170-greatbend-ks

“Here is a one of a kind ’59 FC170. First of all, I do sell some vehicles on Ebay, almost always old farm trucks, as I live here in the middle of Kansas. I enjoy dealing with the farmers I buy them from, love getting them running again, and also enjoy meeting the people who buy them and seeing where they go. I’ve rescued a lot of old farm trucks. But this one is definitely different. First of all, I’m a little bit of a jeep nut. I have 2 49 jeeps, a 76 Cj7, and numerous AMC vehicles as well. I have never, however, owed a forward control jeep. I was offered the chance to purchase this one, and immediately snapped it up.

The only reason I am offering this for sale, is that I’m more of an original vehicle type of guy, and although this truck has had a ton of money spent on the be and winch, I would prefer one with the original bed. Without exception, until now, I always list my vehicles with a starting price of $10.00 and no reserve. I’ve noticed that there is an ebay law of averages. Sometimes they sell a little high, or a little low, but usually sell for about market valve. This one is a little different, as it’s pretty hard to value, so, I decided if it sells for $4500, o.k. if not, o.k. I’ll put it in my collection.

2016-09-24-silent-wings-jeep4

Yes, I’m carrying my mother-in-law’s purse while I photograph a jeep. It’s not a business-as-usual trip for us!

We (Ann, I, and her mother Rosemary) began yesterday’s trip from Tularosa, New Mexico to Lubbock, Texas, by saying our goodbyes to Ann’s aunt and uncle. They were good sports about the “Secret Caravan” descending upon them. With that successful venture behind us, we hit the road for Abilene, though we didn’t quite make it that far. A Going Out of Business sale at Hastings was partly responsible for that, but more on that later.

2016-09-24-tularosa-lubbock

Yesterday’s trip from NM to TX.

Our first stop was the local Lowes grocery store in Tularosa. We HAD to buy some frozen green chiles to bring back to Washington State with us. I can’t wait to make Chile Verde with them.

Soon, we were back in the motorhome. It was a beautiful drive up to Ruidoso (7000ft), then down to the “alien” town of Roswell, where Ann had one final McDonalds’ biscuit sandwich with chiles. She can’t eat the english muffins, but I can :-).

2016-09-24-mcdonalds-roswell-billboard

A McDonald’s billboard on the way into Roswell. Much better than the “I’m Lovin’ It” marketing campaign.

Next it was on to aging town of Tatum, where Roadside America assured us were some metal sculptures. This pair of jeeps were the first two “metal sculptures” we saw:

2016-09-24-tatum-jeeps

Two Jeep trucks at the western edge of Tatum.

The sculptures weren’t quite as impressive as those in California’s Borrego Springs, but they were still pretty cool, especially the cacti. Made out of 3/8″ steel plates, they were sturdy, but so were the prices!

(10/02/2015) Craig spotted this VEEP for sale.

“This old Willy’s body is mounted on a 1960’s VW frame and driveline. The body is rusty but still may appeal to someone out there who likes these old trucks. I far as I know it still runs but realize if you are looking at this it’s not the VW portion that appeals to you.”

Friday-Sun Sept. 23-25: The Secret “Stong” Caravan

• CATEGORIES: Features • TAGS: This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.
david-snake-river

Yours truly taking a selfie at the Snake River completely oblivious to the fact that minutes earlier (just as we were crossing the Snake River Bridge), Eddie Braun was completing Evil Knievel’s jump across the river. We couldn’t have been more oblivious to it.

Beginning on Friday September 23rd, a small caravan of Ann’s cousins traveled to New Mexico to surprise Ann’s uncle, who recently retired. I couldn’t report on our trip, because this was all a top secret surprise and sometimes Ann’s aunt sometimes reads eWillys to follow our trips. Besides, we mostly just drove during the day and RVed at Walmarts at night. That’s why emails have been delayed and posts limited. On Tuesday regular updates will resume.

3-day-map

Left on Friday morning. Spent Friday night in Brigham City, then Saturday night in Farmington. Arrived in Tularosa on Sunday.

The only hiccup was a blown tire on one of the trucks. Then, we couldn’t find the socket to unlock the spare. We persevered and eventually loosed the spare, canalized some lug nuts from another truck, and got back on the road.flat-tire-repair2 flat-tire-repair

The Brigham City, Utah, Walmart is a nice place to stay (and free) with a great view of the mountains.

“Great old classic Willys cab over FC170 Forward Control for sale. These old trucks are getting extremely hard to find in any condition, let alone with all the body panels, bed, and tailgate. This one was pretty well taken care and has you can see from the pics, still has a lot of potential to restore into a nice old rig.

The body is better than most of them you will find. Sheet metal is fairly straight with exception of drivers door. The bed sides are pretty solid and the bed floor only has minor rot, not shot like most of them. The floors have been patched but the seat pans are mostly solid with a few holes but hold my 240lb rear just fine. The windshield surround only has surface rust and not rotted out like most.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000.

It’s rough.

“This rare truck was found in Virginia by one of our good customers who loves interesting, vintage vehicles, especially domestic trucks. 3 more are coming soon…This one is very crusty and obviously not operational. It’s either a project or a parts car, but does have a good title. It belonged to the Jeep dealer in Galax, VA and we believe it may have been used as a snow plow. Other than fit a used tire, we have performed no service. We normally inspect and service everything we sell, but with this one, it seemed better not to start. Due to the age, it is exempt from inspection and odometer reporting. We can deliver it if you are local, otherwise, bring a trailer. Additional photos can be seen on our website www.myautofocus.com”

“We purchased this vintage ’49 Willys truck about 7 years ago to add to our array of classic trucks intended for full restoration. We have only driven it around on our homestead periodically during that interim, putting less than 50 miles on it.

We bought it at a high price even without body or paint work done because the previous owners had done an incredible amount of mechanical type work in that restoration process stretching from 1997 to 2005. The truck mostly sat until we bought it in 2007-8 period into the tune of about $10,000 total invested into the truck.

In the paperwork received with it there was a thick stack of receipts of work done. Like a dummy, I threw away some of them before realizing what the receipts were. I have gone through the many line items of the receipts to come up with the below list. The line items of work during the restoration process was about $8,400, but the total paid on account receipts were over $15,000, so we evidently do not have all the line item work receipts. It does appear this may have included the cost of the truck as well, but it is hard to tell. The old guy that had the work done had hardly driven the truck with low miles since the work was done according to his relative from whom we purchased the truck.

1958 & 1963 FC-150s Tavares, FL **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677 This site contains affiliate links for which I may be compensated.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $5000.

Neither runs.

“I have two Willys FC 150 trucks for sale. 1958 and 1963. Both are 90% complete and were brought here from Montana. Dry stored in garage since arrival from MT. Both have clean titles. 63 has original F head, not running at this time. 63 also has a solid body and is a candidate for easy restoration.

The 58 does not have an engine. It does not have trans or TC, just some misc parts like radiator, oil bath AC, generator, etc . It was a former Texaco service truck, and had a bed mount tow pkg I think based upon the bolt pattern drilled into in bed. It has the usual rust thru on some lower cab corners, but overall good metal on rain gutters, doors, gill, bed, tailgate, etc. You wont find anything like this in Florida, which is why I brought them in from MT. I now have moved on to another project (Super Wagoneer).

These are a deal at $5000 pkg price. No low ballers, jack-legs, dreamers or Hilary Clinton supporters. If your a Jeep guy, you know about these already. Will not sell separately.”

“This is a Rare Right Hand Drive (RHD) Jeep Scrambler CJ-8.
Jeep made around 230 of these Scramblers in 1984 for the Alaskan Postal Delivery Service.

This Jeep runs and drives, however once she is warmed up she tends to want to stall out at stoplights if you don’t feather the throttle a bit. Rather than messing with the single barrel carb on there, I have a rebuilt dual barrel Motorcraft 2100 ready to be installed, but have not yet had the time.

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $3000.

Appears worth a look.

“I bought these here on craigslist earlier this year. (and paid more than I’m asking) I had big plans but life has gotten in the way. A medical issue has all but assured that I will never get them back on the road. The 1965 is somewhat rare. I was told it was one of the last FC170’s made. Only a handful were actually built in 1965. The previous owner did a lot of work to it and it shouldn’t take much to get it running. Both trucks have inline six motors. The parts truck is full of extra parts. I don’t know what goes to which but there is a lot of stuff. Extra seat frames and windows too. The ’65 has a clean title the ’62 didn’t come with a title. They have to go as a package, will not separate. Let me know if you have questions but please don’t jerk me around. Thanks!”
