1974 IKA 2WD CJ-6 **Status Unknown**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-6, International • TAGS: , , .

UPDATE: This was on eBay last year. **Status Unknown.

(11/24/2013) This Industrias Kaiser Argentina CJ-6 is the first I’ve found for sale. The seller’s wife brought this from Argentina. According to the CJ-3B Page, about 600 of these came with diesel engines.

“This is a rare specimine of a 1971 Kaiser Jeep CJ6 that has been garage kept for many years. My wife brought it to the US from Argentina where it was maintained to the last degree by a master mechanic. The body has absolutely 0% rust. That may be hard to believe but it is truly the case. It was originally a Dual Fuel Natural Gas primary with Gasoline Reserve tank vehicle but the EPA forced my wife to remove the NG tanks. I have no idea why in this day and age of alternative fuels the EPA would make her do this but they did. The tanks re-installed if you can find them in the market. The EPA forced her to leave the tanks behind. We are both self employed and have very little time to work with it but as I understand it, here is what it will require to get it running: Rebuild the carb, Probably a new battery, and it will need a new Hydraulic clutch & mastercylinder. Otherwise, it should be good to go. As you can see from the pictures, it is in amazing condition cosmetically. If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. This “Fix-er-Upper” wont take too much “Fixin’-Up” to be an awesome collector for someone.”

1962 FC-170 on Isuzu Chassis Tucson, AZ **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677 • TAGS: .

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was on eBay

This was formerly a USPS FC.

“I’m moving to South Dakota, and have an 11 week old daughter so a two door, two wheel drive doomsday truck just isn’t that useful right now in my life; so I’m selling it.

This is titled as a 1962 Willys/Jeep FC-170. This is one of the few FC-170s made for the USPS; and yes I cut it up and put in on a 1990 Isuzu NPR/GMC Tiltmaster W4500 powered by the bombproof Isuzu 4bd1t direct inject 4 cylinder turbo diesel, and was able to keep the tilting cab ability. I’ve driven this truck to and from Tucson AZ (where the truck is) to Phoenix a few times. The Willys cab is a lot lighter than the Isuzu cab so the front springs are rated too heavy; this isn’t the smoothest of rides right now. My plan was to put a divorced transfer case (NP 205 from a 1970 1-ton Intl–will sell for $100) and build a Dana 70 front axle and put in lighter leaf springs. However, I move next month and don’t have time to finish this part of the build since my new daughter is taking up all of my time…

What you will get: A running diesel Willys, a collection of official Isuzu manuals (over $200 worth), two spare wheels and some miscellaneous parts. You will never have to do emissions again! You have a 13,600# chassis that you can do anything you want with. This thing turns and stops on a dime. You will get about 25 mpg. If you plumb the second tank (I just mounted it) you will get about 1800 miles! I was going to turn this into my daily driver/bug out vehicle–like a mini M-35 deuce and a half–that also could burn WVO/used motor oil (just think of all of the abandoned cars’ oil you could use to power your way along if the worst happened).

The cab seats two, has a hidden “fishing rod” compartment, full racing roll cage etc. The dashboard is incomplete, currently I’m just reusing the Isuzu wiring harness and instrument cluster. Most of all of it works, but it isn’t pretty. The stock Isuzu AC/heater will fit under the dash, but it is not installed (just stuffed in for the pictures). Also, there is no front bumper; ran out of time. If you want a 9k Warn, I’ll throw that in for $500.

Once I find the short for the tail lights, this rig will be ready to go anywhere. I can store it for one month with no issues, after that my Brother will have to store it outside… This truck is 8′ tall, and like all cab forward trucks not really “handicap accessible.”

1981 Mitsubishi J-54 Hattiesburg, MS **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B, Mahindra • TAGS: , , .

UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $6900.

This J-54 appears in good shape.

“Up for sale is my 1981 cj3b Diesel J54 from Mitsubishi Heavy industries. Willys sold the license to Mitsubishi in 1953 for them to make a version of their much beloved Cj3b. Mitsubishi in turn, made the Jeeps from 1954 up until August of 1998. Willys on the other hand, stopped making the cj3b in 1965 for the American market. This jeep is in really good shape and it has only 36,000 original miles. The engine is the 2.8l 4dr5 inline 4 cylinder diesel and gets extremely good gas mileage…ive gotten a little over 30mpg since i bought it in 2010. It is the right hand drive like postal jeeps but it is really easy to get used to and kinda fun once you get used to it. The diesel engine is very heavy duty and was used all over the world in these jeeps and in Mitsubishi heavy forklifts. Here are some specs….full time hubs, 24 volt waterproof electrical system, D44 for rear diff and d30 for front diff, good approach and departure angles, gear to gear transfer case with a 2.3 low range and 4.77 differential gearing, no computer, no epa smog devices at all, no catalytic converter, no egr valve, no pcv valve, and no carburetor to adjust. The jeep cranks better than anything that i own and i attribute that to the 24 volt system and the power it throws to spin the starter. I really dont want to sale the jeep but other things are pressing and it is time for someone else to enjoy it.. . more info on craigslist.

Year? M-151A2 6 Wheel Turbo Diesel

• CATEGORIES: M-151, Unusual • TAGS: , , , .

The seller claims this is stock, but in my searches I couldn’t find any example of this.  It looks kind of cool though.

“VERY RARE 6 WHEEL DRIVE DERIVATIVE M151A2 KUBOTA TURBO DIESEL. I UNDERSTAND THEY ONLY MADE A HAND FULL OF THESE FOR THE MILITARY BEFORE SOME CONTROVERSY AROSE. THIS IS THE ONLY ONE I HAVE SEEN IN THE FLESH. 357 ORIG. MILES FROM NEW. IT HAD 187 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO, AT THAT TIME I DID A COMPLETE SERVICE , OIL,OIL FILTER , FUEL FILTER, SERVICED ALL THREE DIFFS, TRANSFER CASE, AND GEAR BOX, 2 NEW BATTERIES ,AND RADIATOR, AND COMPLETE LUBE.I HAVE ALL OF THE RECEIPTS. THE ONLY THING THAT I CAN TELL NOT STOCK IS THE AIR INTAKE SNORKEL WAS REMOVED ( FOR HIGH WATER CROSSING ) DUE TO IT WAS AN OIL BATH TYPE AND WAS HURTING THE PERFORMANCE. THE ORIG. HIGH WATER EXHAUST PIPE IS STILL INTACT.

I AM INCLUDING A COUPLE OF PHOTOS OF SOME PAINT CHIPPING IN MINOR PLACES THAT SHOW WHAT APPEARS TO BE RUST, IT IS ONLY COSMETIC. THERE WAS AN AREA AROUND THE WINDSHIELD THAT APPEARED BAD SO I PULLED THE GLASS ( AND CRACKED IT ) ONLY TO FIND IT WAS VERY MINOR , LOOKED LIKE IT WASNT PREPPED PROPERLY PRIOR TO ORIG. PAINT BUT NEVER THE LESS IT HAS BEEN RE FINISHED AND A NEW PIECE OF GLASS WAS CUT AND INSTALLED. THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AS WELL AS ALL FLOOR PANS , NEVER ANY RUST WHATSOEVER . THIS JEEP HAS BEEN IN WEST TEXAS ITS WHOLE LIFE.

IT HAS A TOP ( NO BOWS ) WITH DOORS AND QUARTER COVERS THAT SNAP DOWN THE SIDES.

THE KUBOTA IS A 2.O LITRE V2003 TE , TONS OF TORQUE AND WILL LAST FOREVER
THIS HAS A 4 SPD. GEAR BOX , INCLUDING GRANNY GEAR WITH A SHIFT ON THE FLY SYSTEM THAT IS INCREDIBLE

Year? Mitsubishi Annapolis, MD **Status Unknown**

• CATEGORIES: Features, Other 4x4s • TAGS: , , , .

UPDATE: Status Unknown. Was $5700.

“I purchased this jeep 5 years ago in Washington State where I restored it and used it on mountain trails, hunting/fishing while based at Fairchild AFB near Spokane. After being transferred to Andrews AFB it’s spent most of its time in my garage, other than trips into town, etc. It has a very efficient low mileage (under 45,000 miles) 4DR6 2.7L diesel engine mated to an iron 4speed manual transmission and transfer case. The steering is right hand drive as is typical for these late model willy’s from Japan. It’s been well maintained but shows some wear for its age such as repairs in the soft top, worn seats, etc. I also have the driver, passenger, and rear doors that are included in the sale. About 3 years ago the windshield wiper motor stopped working, so I’ve relied on the back up manual wiper in its place. I don’t have the time to research a new wiper motor or have it rebuilt, which is why I’m letting my jeep go at such a low price… While doing some research on this vehicle I discovered through discussion boards that individuals are paying up to $14K for these jeeps by the time the import cost, taxes, and all other expenses are calculated. It’s never been driven in the rain/snow here in Maryland due to rust concerns. This jeep has proven extremely reliable to me and capable of anything I’ve put in its path, you won’t be dissapointed.

Since I’ve owned it I’ve addressed the following:

-New windshield
-5 new 8 ply tubeless tires
-resealed the front and rear axles
-replaced all of the brakes (11″ drum brakes)
-installed new rear driveshaft
-replaced driveline parking brake
-eliminated rust from rear fenders by removing old sheet metal and welding in new
-Water pump was rebuilt 1 month ago
-New fan/alternator belt last month
-replaced thermostat & hoses
-installed inline coolant block heater
-M38 speedometer (replaced old unit that was in kilometers per hr)
***note*** speedometer works great but odometer recently stopped working
-installed turn signal control (unit was missing when it arrived from Japan)
-new pintle hitch with 2″ ball
-new shovel, axe, & jerry can
-installed farm jack on front bumper
-new M38 mirrors
-installed passenger seat from a CJ-5 (seat was missing when it arrived from Japan)
-installed Warn Locking hubs for the Dana 30 front axle
-engine oil & filter have been changed every 3,000 miles or 6 months (which ever comes first)

****the engine is barely broke in at 45-50K miles, burns no oil, and there are absolutely no leaks from the engine or drivetrain components.Yea”

Mitsubishi Right Hand Drive J54 Milburn, Tx $7500

• CATEGORIES: CJ-3B, International • TAGS: , , .

UPDATE:  Price bumped to $7500

(03/19/2011) This looks like a real nice Mitsubishi, but the description had me scratching my head  Now, I’m no expert on Mitsubishi jeeps, but I’m pretty sure there are some inaccuracies in the description.  As a side note, here are a variety of Mitsubishi Jeep brochures that I found.

For example, ‘Diesel engine means long life, biofuel or runs on French fry oil’ — sure, a diesel ‘can’ run on vegetable oil, but it does require some non-trivial modifications.

Or ‘This is an Mitsubishi produced M38A1’ — this is not an exact version of the M-38a1 (not even close). Instead, this appears to be a J-54.

Or even ‘It has High/Low 4×4 & 4×2 Tranny & Transfer case. (3 levers)’ — unclear how it has a 3rd, separate lever for the transfercase when the first two levers represent the entirety of the transfer case.  Below is the description:

“USED WILLYS JEEP CJ3B (High Hood) PRODUCED BY MITSUBISHI CORP JAPAN. This is an Mitsubishi produced M38A1 VIN # J54-16629

Mitsubishi bought the rights to produce the exact Military version M38A1 Jeeps back post WW II They continued production until 1990

There are identical other than some major improvements.
Differences are Mitsubishi installed there 2760cc 4 cylinder Diesel Engine & put in a 4 speed transmission.
It has High/Low 4×4 & 4×2 Tranny & Transfer case. (3 levers)
Has a posi-trac rear end.
Fuel economy is exceptional. (Approx. 25-30 MPG 2×2) (In 4×4 & extreme conditions less)
Pre-Heat standard , WE were starting it this winter during the ice & snow when it was 0’ outside & the windchills at 15 below.

24v system. Dual batteries

They are right hand drive. (Can be converted) Other than engine, tranny & related most other parts interchange. Tops & other accessories are available new today. We carry a full line of service & replacement parts in our inventory.

This Jeep is equipped with a 3″ lift, free flow exhaust, 32″ tires, aluminum mag wheels, bucket wrap around contour seats,
Chrome Bull Bar,. Bikini Top, Roll bar .

We have been completely thru this Jeep & found it to be in excellent mechanical condition. With No Rust.

The engine will out perform even a 6 cylinder & even V-8’s in most any terrain, …. “well other than flat out”
It has a throttle set for climbing the steepest grades with ease & no bouncing accelerator pedal.
Diesel engine means long life, biofuel or runs on French fry oil dependability & less braking desending the steepest of grades.

Willys required there Logo to be on all of them. Other than the Engine & Tranny you cannot tell them apart.
These will last past your Grandchildren.
They will simply out perform any Jeep you are currently familiar with Off-Road. I have had 24 of these over the years & everyone that got one of them just loves them you will to I am sure.

I sold most of them between $8000 & $10000.
I will take $6500 cash money or trade for something that I like or you think is worth more than 65. Please be real , no junk, & send pics. I like man toys, street rods, & would trade for a Rhino in nice condition.

FC-150 & FC-170 Diesel Ishpeming, Mi Make Offer

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677 • TAGS: , , .

UPDATE2:  Still Available

UPDATE:  Craig confirms that this is a FC-170 DRW; it’s unclear if the diesel is original or if it is a replacement engine (rather than a M-676 with a Cerlist Diesel.)

“I have an FC 150 and an FC 170 that will be sold as a pair. The FC 170 has no motor, trans or transfer case. It was a RARE factory diesel with a Gafner loader. It has a GVW of 9000# with Dana axles. Found a bell housing and flywheel in the cab so I assume it is off the diesel. Odometer shows 7500 miles. The FC 150 is pretty much complete except for the seats. It has a 4 cylinder F134 motor that will be rebuilt shortly. It has the standard bore and reground crank and bearings to match. Waitng for a front seal and valve stem seals. Odometer shows 21,500 miles. I am just stating what the odometers say, don’t know if it is the actual miles or not. Both Jeeps last plated around 1973-74.  I am open to REASONABLE OFFERS. I am not going to give these away so don’t waste my time. I do have more pics if you are serious.”

UPDATE: Was on eBay. **SOLD**

“Very rare (less than 400 believed to ever have been produced, and only a handful raimaining).  Kaiser built these for the military based on the Forward Control Willys platform and powered by a Cerlist diesel engine.  The engine, transmission, and transfercase are missing from this rare survivor.  Survivor may be a strong word considering how beat up this example is.  Nearly very door and body panel is beat up in some fashion.  The irony is that this is a relativley rust-free example of a Forward Control Jeep.  The floors and structural body componenets are solid and strong.

This truck comes with a solid and straight civilian cab and doors that can be used to rebuild this ultra-rare crewcab body.  It has the military bumpers and grill guard.  The military garages are gone.  I have a civilian dash to go with it. It is missing the rear seat, and has no glass.

The Ensign 100

• CATEGORIES: Unusual • TAGS: .

Here’s an interesting, rare offroad vehicle built specifically for Mining.  I first discovered it at Hemmings and then ran across a detailed story about it at OEMOffHighway.com.  I couldn’t find any more pics or information about them.

From OEMOffHighway.com, “The Ensign 100 was rated at 1.5 tons and was built around a frame made from 2x4x0.25 in. steel tubing, on to which a body fabricated from 1/4, 3/16 and 1/8 in. plate steel was welded. The standard power plant was Ford’s 52 hp, four-cylinder 192D diesel industrial engine, although Deutz or Perkins could also be ordered.”

1965 M-677 Columbia, MO **SOLD**

• CATEGORIES: FC150-FC170-M677 • TAGS: , .

UPDATE: Was on eBay. **SOLD**

“Selling 5 of my babies; pandered, pampered vehicles.  This is a Jeep Kaiser M677 Forward Control truck; the M677 was sold to the U.S. military in the 1960’s; and this is one rare car.  Dashboard has a special plate stating this truck was for the U.S. Marine Corps; and that it is “U.S. Property.”  Forward Control Jeeps were pug-nosed, unique vehicles sold as pickups; this version was special for the military and equipped to be a high-torque troop carrier.  Check out “Forward Control Jeep” on google, or “M677″ if you want to learn more.

Two seats in the front, and a bench in rear; the canopy covered pickup bed had two wood slats on either side for another three personnel to sit on each side.  Owned for over a year; mileage is 5,149 miles and it is original, given the condition of the vehicle, original Cerlist 3-cylinder 2-stroke diesel engine, and the fact that this truck never saw military action.  Absolutely nothing cut, spliced, or modified on this truck.  Close your eyes and you might just smell napalm in the morning, somewhere along the Mekong Delta !  After military sale, this truck was sold to the civil park service or something, painted over the military green with a white coat, and gold on the inside.  Where the paint has flaked, you can see the original military colors on this truck.

This vehicle is probably best for the discerning buyer looking for a highly unusual and rare collectible.  There is a small and very supportive club; after I bought it, club members contacted me almost right away, and were super-supportive.  The truck ran when I bought it; and earlier in 2009, I had some work done on it (have all receipts), such as: rebuild injectors, rebuild fuel pump assembly, replace belts, hoses, change all fluids, replace engine mounts with new, repair driver’s side window regulator linkage, check brakes and bleed system, remove and clean radiator and fill with new fluid, and restore some non-working gauges which you can see in photos.  Fuel filters, thermostat and related items were replaced also.  Starting this car requires holding down the glow plug switch for at least a minute, then crank.  The manual transmission and clutch work fine; the transmission has a hi- and lo-mode; plus there is a 4-wheel drive stick; all gauges work.  The engine is in the cab, and unbelievably, there is a huge air filter in the cab also (with new air filter).  This truck is definitely a head-turner; have done up to 45 mph on the highway with it.  Tires are so-so, but hold air just fine.

Best thing about this truck is the purity and completeness.  Purity means all plates are still on it; including a couple on the door sill on passenger side.  Nothing is rusted through, or changed from original (other than the civil service white paint over the military colors).  Completeness means that all unique, impossible-to-find parts are on it; like the military lights, canopy, and Cerlist engine parts.  Very few, probably less than five, of these M677 trucks are still running in the U.S. with the original drivetrain, and this is one of them, or so I am told by the club afficianados, who are an absolute wealth of knowledge about M677 trucks.

Undercarriage has light rust only, nothing perforated nor even close to it.  Doors open and shut fine; there are four doors.  Drive and enjoy as is; or complete the body and interior restoration to make this a very unique show-piece that will easily hold its value.  They don’t make these anymore, and never will again. Drive to the local show, or hardware store, and enjoy the old-timers fuss about this vehicle; that alone is worth the price  Batteries are new; and I installed a 24 volt battery tender to keep them charged; the trickle charger is included, as is a small collection of parts, original shop manual, a new shop manual, a PDF service manual for the Cerlist engine, and related literature.  The car has a clean Missouri title, and was previously titled in Delaware (copy included).”

1953 Mitsubishi Wagon? Oklahoma eBay

• CATEGORIES: Unusual, Willys Wagons • TAGS: .

This is a right hand drive Mitsubishi.  The claim is that this is “This is an exceptionally clean & original vehicle“; however, it seems to me that front should look like a CJ-3B, not a CJ-5 (please correct me if I’m wrong about this!!).  I can’t help but think there’s a genuine effort to mislead people.

“This Jeep is equipped with aftermarket  all weather tires, aluminum mag wheels, original seats, headliner panels are in very good condition if not excellant, all original. Factory spare still has clear wrapping on it. Passengers visor still has factory protective plastic on it. Small tears in rear seat rear in cargo area, other wise interior is exceptional condition. This is an exceptionally clean & original vehicle. No restore yet, none needed other than paint is poor quality & it has a fiberglass hood, steel ones are available….”

In the past year, I have only seen one of these for sale and that was on eBay.  This looks like it is in great shape.  It doesn’t run at the moment.

Body in good shape but could use new paint. Has been stored inside out of the weather. It is currently NOT running. However the motor is complete and is not frozen. The truck has the original troop seats in the back. Asking $10,000 obo”

1964 M677 Gardner, MA **SOLD**

UPDATE: Was on eBay. **SOLD**

“This is a military issue model M677 (Crew Cab FC-170) and is an 11-passenger troop carrier that has the original issue aluminum canopy on the back body. It runs and drives and the brakes work. It has the orignial Cerlist 3-cylinder, 2 stroke diesel/multi-fuel engine. We believe the mileage is original. The sheet metal is in incredibly good shape, minor surface rust on frame, but no heavy rust anywhere. We have the original owner’s and parts manuals. It seems to be 98% complete. It’s just missing the head liner on the roof. It’s a very solid unit and very rare. Only 3,000 military FCs were built and only 60-100 of those FCs had the multi-fuel Cerlist engine. According to Jeep expert, Jim Allen, “it has a five-star investment potential”. There are a few spots where you can see the original Olive Drab color underneath the white paint. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or comments. Happy Bidding!”
