Importantly, the allure of buying a project jeep can be romantic. The reality of restoring a jeep can be quite different, expensive and overwhelming without the right tools and resources. There’s a lot of early jeep here. The 0-8 KS speedo has the orange needle; I’m not sure why some are white and some are orange. This also has an early top that looks in good shape and a set of early, period correct even, Free-Lock hubs. It still has the reversed front shackles, too.

This is a non runner with a Kelly hardtop. The bumper is unusual. This has the 0-8 KS speedometer with the needle still intact (a rarity).

Blaine found this unusual CJ-5. The seller claims it was special ordered by Henry Kaiser, then given to the Boy Scouts. Hopefully, the seller can substantial the claim. Even without that pedigree, this is an awfully stock jeep in very good shape.

“This is a 1960 CJ five with 35,000 original miles. The jeep is from Hawaii. Henry J Kaiser gave this jeep to the Boy Scouts in Hawaii. The Boy Scouts sold raffle tickets as a fundraiser. When the jeep was about a year old. It wound up in Paso Robles. The man owned it past away. I Purchased a jeep 15 years ago. The stoop is always been under cover in store and in storage. It is in great condition. The color of the jeep, is the same colors as the Royal Hawaiian hotel in Hawaii. Which was also owned by Henry J Kaiser. The main body of the jeep which is painted a darker pink is the same as the hotel The light pink that is used on the grill. He’s also the same color as the trim color on the hotel. The color of the seats are the color of the tile roof that is on the hotel. This is also the same colors of used on Kaiser s Sand and gravel trucks. This jeep has an absolutely fabulous history. and I believe that it is the only CJ five. In these colors as it was a special order by Henry J Kaiser and sell.”
Lots of original jeep here, including a “‘Jeep'” marked key. It runs, but does have body rust.

This CJ-5 needs some love, but it looks promising. It’s powered by a diesel. It’s got a Koenig hardtop.

Tom spotted this jeep. It includes an overdrive (not installed). While the fenders and paint aren’t original, along with a couple other items, there’s a lot to like here.

“1965 Willys CJ5 with Auburn Trencher. Front blade bracket/no blade. Dual wheel adapters with extra set of rims and tires. The Jeep has the-overload coil springs with leaf springs in the rear. It’s all there. Practically no miles on motor to speak of 5,000 +or – runs great, trencher works great. I do have dually adapters with the rims and tires that will go with it. Zero rust, great piece of history.

“Mechanically correct 3 owner CJ5 , F-134 engine runs well and the transmission shifts smoothly and the transfer-case shifts in and out of four wheel drive with ease . Dana 44 rear with factory Power-lok rear end with 5:38 gears in front and rear differentials. Front differential has smooth working Warn locking hubs and has new inner and outer seals including knuckle seals the king pin bearings have been replaced in the front differential as well . The body has never been repainted since new and is extremely clean for a 54 year old Cj5. The brakes are new as are the KYB gas shocks at all 4 corners .
I have replaced the Fuel pump with the correct Dual Action fuel pump along with a new steel tank and lines as well as rebuilt the Carburetor. The starter has been rebuilt recently and it has a new battery and ignition switch as well. The Radiator has been re-cored and it has a new water pump and Thermostat as well. The Heater Core was replaced and the heater works as it should . I replaced all of the worn out factory insulating pads between the body and frame with ½ inch conveyor belting and all new correct ⅜ 24 bolts washers lock washers and nuts . I replaced the speedometer assembly and speedometer cable because they were no longer working but the originals will be provided with the Jeep. The Jeep comes with 5 BFG All Terrain tires with good tread”

Original speedometer/odometer still works and is a very rare piece. Brand new Smittybilt seats and a brand new exhaust system installed less than two months ago.”
Has no title, the two left tires are seized, and the floor could use a patch or replacement, but overall could make a good restoration project as the rust may be limited to the floors. Note the windshield wiper fluid bag in the engine compartment.

“My dad passed away last year, and I’m cleaning out our family’s barn and we have a 1959 Willy’s Jeep with a Koenig cab and a plow.
Just pulled it out of our barn for the first time in over 40 years. My grandpa used it as a snowplow and it’s just been sitting since (metal warehouse on a concrete floor).
Don’t really know much about it other than what you can see in the pictures. Comes with a spare tire and the original snowchains. Only 17,094 original miles!
Don’t have the title, but I do have a bunch of old registration forms, as well as the Power of Attorney paperwork you would need to get a replacement title.
Two left tires are seized, other than that don’t know anything about it mechanically.”

“Anyone looking for the coolest 62 Jeep CJ5 on the planet. I got this handsome little guy up for sale. It’s beyond amazing! Everything works, every light, all gauges, the chrome winch ect…oh and there’s chrome all over the place. Original paint, Original interior.. both are in incredible condition. It’s a very unique Jeep and it’s running a Corvette engine that was installed by the original owner in the mid sixties.He was a aircraft mechanic so everything is perfect .It also has very rare Thor electronic locking front hub set . No rust anywhere and super straight. I have the those crazy off road wide white wall tires in the pics and the hubcaps. I just threw on a new set of Power King black walls to drive it around. The Jeep runs amazing! It’s got really good power and not geared that low. I have not taken it on the freeway but got it up to 60mph with no issues. This is a very special Jeep with history. “1957 Jeep Willys CJ5. Runs great!! Just got it NYS inspected. Hardly any rust on it. All original, not restored. This was a mint barn find from original owner. Only 33,000 miles on it. In great condition for an original 57 Jeep. Only reason I’m selling it is because it’s in such great condition I’m afraid of using it to go off road. I don’t want to damage it, I’d rather sell this to someone who can appreciate the historical value. Like I said, runs great I’ve been driving it around for a couple months now. I just put new brake lines, hose, pads, wheel cylinders and master brake cylinders on it. Along with a new carb.”
