UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $14,000.
Joe in Mesa’s friend Vern is selling his GPW. Joe reports that Vern, whose father was in the OSS, is a history buff who knows his stuff, so this should be a pretty accurate GPW. Why only $14K? Well in addition to the light harness needing to be installed, the transmission leaks (don’t they ALL?) and that bothers him. He thinks it should be pulled out and re-gasketed.
“1944 GPW, Everything is correctly F marked. No aftermarket parts, New Firestone tires, New highend wiring harness, Lights need to be wired and connected. The kit for that comes with it. Arizona title. When all is said and [done] it’s a really nice jeep; runs very well, can’t think of too many problems with it. Asking 14K. Firm.”
UPDATE: Thanks for everyone’s quick input, we’ve solved this mystery. This particular grille is a 1969-1971 grille (see more in the comments).
Darin posted on Facebook this grille with tear-drop shaped parking light holes.
The catalog number for this Warn Hub document is 2-55, which might mean February of 1955. It shows the WL-2 Locking model on one side and the WA-1 Automatic model on the other.
UPDATE: I found this 18-page Warn Selective Drive Hub Service and Repair Manual on eBay last week. This appears to be an earlier version (February of 1955?) than the PDF version linked to at the very bottom of this post (which covers WL-2 and WO-1 hubs). It covers the WA-1 Automatic Hub and the WL-2 hub. This is document No. WD-255.
This looks to be a Willys-Overland produced matchbook that allowed dealers to add their names. In this case, Ike’s Haugland Motor Company out of Wheaten, Minnesota, added its brand to this matchbook. The interior of the matchbook was the biggest surprise to me, as it listed the 9 reasons why the jeep can do all it does.
These are interesting, but seem pretty high priced at $360. One photo reportedly includes Delmar Roos.

This series of 5″x7″ photos were taken at the Esslingen Germany shop where jeeps were reconditioned. It’s not clear if these are reprints, but still a rare bit of history.

On July 30, 1953, newspapers across the country ran full-page or nearly-full-page ads announcing the combination of Kaiser Frazer and Willys-Overland into Kaiser-Willys. Maury spotted an actual ad, though not full-page, from the Minnesota Morning Tribune that is for sale on eBay: View all the information on eBay

One of these is a VEC and the other has a column shift with a rear PTO.

“Several old Jeep Willys in various states of poor condition
CJ-2A has decent metal but is a project. Has rear PTO. Engine is free, oil in block. Gear box shifters move freely but transmission shifter does not. Tub needs work but is salvageable. Has original Willys seat, can sell seperate.
CJ-3A has Arctic Top, driver door is off but I have it. Engine is free, oil in block, fluid in radiator. Tub is shot.
One other rolling chassis with engine, also a CJ-3A I believe. There is another CJ-3a with front hood and sheet metal. Has engine but manifold is gone, open to weather likely no good.
Have at least one each Dana 25, 41 and 44 axles, with driveshafts attached that do spin. Three transmissions, two have gear box shifters that slide, gear shifters are seized.
Other miscellaneous parts.
$3000 or best offer for the whole lot. Willing to sell items or Willys separately. I can help load on your trailer with my tractor.”
The seller notes it needs a little work.

“Selling my 1948 Willys Jeep CJ2A. All stock with brand new tires, freshly powdercoated rims and a powdercoated roll bar. Bikini top. Runs and drives but needs a little time put into it. Took a long time to get all the title and everything worked out and lost love for it. Very minimal rust.
Title is finally clean and in my name. Plates in storage at Kapolei branch. Pretty sure all it needs to get safety is the fluids topped up, the rear light rewired and the fuel gauge installed.”
Looks like a good project.

https://spokane.craigslist.org/cto/d/loon-lake-1947-willys-jeep-cj2/7261479360.html
“Here is your chance to own a piece of history. As they say, They don’t make them like this any more. 225 Buick v-6, t-14a transmission, Dana 18 transfer case and a Warn Overdrive swapped in from a late 60’s CJ-5.
The engine is healthy and has a rebuilt Holley 2280 carb with no choke, new intake manifold gaskets, new t-stat and new electronic ignition and coil, the trans and transfer case got new bearings 2 years ago. New coolant gauge installed last week.
A Dana 44 with open differential pushes the rear and an Dana 25 with new axles, Spicer I-joints, and new bearings and seals 2 years ago on the knuckles. New blinker switch, tail lights, and wiring this summer.
A full roll cage keeps you safe and I do have a full soft top and doors to go with it. A Warn 8274 winch is up front to pull your buddies out. Nearly new 33×12.5×15 mud terrain tires. This is not a rust bucket nor a near mint Jeep. It was my daily driver until 2 yrs ago. has sat way too much since then so time to sell.”
If the body is solid this is worth a look.
