Don shared these pics from this weekend’s all breeds jeep show in York, Pennsylvania. Apparently, it poured on Saturday; Sunday, when these pics were taken, was much nicer.
Art shared this announcement regarding this year’s Fall Willys reunion in Fulton, Missouri, at the Auto World Museum.
“This is our 23rd year of the Reunion, and it is open to the public, and all makes, models, and years of Jeep are welcome. If you register for the Reunion, entrance to the Auto World Museum is free. We hold a wonderful banquet on Saturday evening with door and raffle prizes. There are also vendors attending to sell new and used Jeep parts. There is also the Off-road trail rides.”
UPDATE II (July 20, 2018) : Keith provided portions of a document that show the agreement between Karl Probst / R.N. Harger and KAISER.
UPDATE (July 1, 2018) : Barry found a set of specs that could be a match to this prototype. Also, Keith noted that there were 6 different designs from the Probst-Harger” collaboration.
Original Post June 26th: Barry spotted this photo on the Kaiser Permanente history site. The jeep is listed as a 1943 Model 1160 “Kaiser Lightweight Jeep”. I’m not sure if this was supposed to be an Airborne prototype or just a concept lightweight jeep. Henry J. Kaiser is on the right. I think that’s Karl Probst on the far left; Rollin N. Harger might be seated in the middle.
Steve reports that this jeep can be seen inside the Miami-Dade County (Florida) Transportation Building. It appears to be a militarized CJ-2A with some MB parts (frame could be MB) with some diamond plating added to the rear cargo area.
As you can see in this pic, it is claimed the jeep is a 1945 WWII jeep. But, the CJ parts suggest otherwise. It appears the jeep is on loan form the Miami Military Museum at Zoo Miami.

This farming equipment was manufactured out of Texas by the Mcluney & Brown Manufacturing Company and included in a circa 1948 Willys Equipment Book.

“1940- Ford Pygmy during testing at Camp Holabird. The Ford Pygmy is the pilot vehicle submitted by Ford Motor Company in response to the U.S. Army’s requirement for a “light reconnaissance and command car” during the military buildup prior to World War II. It is the only known survivor of the original pilot vehicles built by Bantam, Willys, and Ford and tested by the Army. Photo measures approx. 6 3/4″ x 8 3/4″ ”
It’s a “honey” of a combination, a Ford hammermill and a jeep.

This past weekend was the 2018 Willys America Open House. Thanks to Paul Barry for hosting and for Scramboleer Dan for posting photos and reports at the Old Willys Forum. You can see all the photos here (you must be logged in to see most of the photos). I’ve posted a few pics below.
A distant relative of mine was vacationing in Bad Sachsa, Germany, when he spotted this jeep. They city has an annual Schützenfest that includes a parade.
It looks like the same jeep was in the 2017 parade.

“1944 Press Photo Lt. Gen. Walter Kredger Gets In Jeep With Lt. Gen. Eichelberger. This is an original press photo. Lt. Gen. Walter Kredger, commander of the 8th Army, gets in his jeep while Lt. Gen. Robert L. Eichelberger, who commanded the American forces furing the Papuan campaign, scrambles for a back seat. The two officers were making a tour of an advanced base in the Southwest Pacific after Lt. Gen. Kredger made the presentation of the “Streamer” award to the headquarters I Corps of the 6th Army, which was cited for its outstanding performance in repulsing the enemy on Papua, July 23rd, 1942, to January 23rd, 1943. Photo measures 7.25 x 9 inches. Photo is dated 5-3-1944.”

This photo appeared in what I think was a 1979 issue of Jeep News (I couldn’t find an exact date). It’s a funky setup!

Thanks to Joe-in-Mesa for spotting, then buying/mailing me this great find out of an antique shop. He snagged it for $35. I’m happy with that price. It needs one of the windshield support arms fixed and some repainting, but otherwise it is in good shape.
After doing some research on eBay, I’ve discovered this one is a little different than the ones listed there or on the CJ-3B page. Those all seem to have a central hole in the back that’s used for pulling a trailer (see examples at the bottom of the post). Instead of a hole, this one has two slots (I found one other with two slots).

“1951 Press Photo Scottish soldiers in Korea chalked New Year greetings on a jeep. This is an original press photo. New Year greetings were extended to GI’s by these Scottish soldiers in Korea. They chalked the greetings on the upraised hood of a jeep while waiting for canned food to warm on the engine of the vehicle. The tam wearers are Pvt. Thomas Dunn and Pvt. George Cameron. Willys America’s open house is this coming weekend (Saturday July 14th 10am to 4pm). Dan Bowermaster will be leading the caravan from San Francisco to the event in Cazadero. I *thought* I’d be attending it this year with Ann and my daughter Kasia (who is completing an internship in Walnut Creek this summer), but complications forced me to put it off again this year.

Blake is looking for some replacement side panels for a CJ-6 project he has, but can’t located any replacement panels for the 20″ spacer installed into the body. Anyone know of either a template or someone that makes them?
