Though the issue doesn’t explicitly say it is the January issue, given it discusses things happening in the future in January of 1967, I believe it is the first issue of 1967.

1957 Ad and Merchandise Bulletin for Jeep Pens and Pencils
UPDATE: I just purchased a set of these off of eBay. The box has a little tear, but the pen and pencil are in good shape.

The Jeep GPV Volkswagen From Sandman
UPDATE IV: “J” was able to locate and purchase one of these rare sandman GPVs.

UPDATE II: After 10 plus years, we finally have a photo of an actual GPV Volkswagen-jeep! Thanks to Jay for sending this photo. I hope we can get some more!
=========================
UPDATE Jan 18, 2013: I found a second brochure that identifies this as a Sandman GPV
Has anyone ever heard of this Volkswagen/jeep model? It doesn’t seem to be a VEEP. Other searches yielded nothing about this unusual rig.

August 1964 Jeep Family Brochure
This August 1964 brochure is part of the first reprint series, but I don’t know what corrections were made from the first run of this brochure. Absent from this family of jeeps are the DJ-3As (and siblings), CJ-3Bs, FCs and any FJs Kaiser jeep may have been producing.
This is the first page. It isn’t a surprise that Kaiser was promotion the new Cherokees and Wagoneers:
This is the back page of the brochure:
The brochure opens up horizontally to reveal this page:
It then opens up wider to reveal this tri fold page:
Finally, it opens vertically to reveal the family of jeeps. Note that it includes a top section in the lower right corner, highlighting Meyer-style cabs, though in 1964 it appears the cabs may have been marketed as “jeep” cabs or Orrville cabs, since Meyer didn’t purchase Orrville until 1965.
December 1960 Jeep News – Pepe Movie
UPDATE: This dealer Advertising and Merchandising Bulletin from February 6, 1961, was sent to dealers explaining the Pepe Movie promotion and possible promotional tie-ins dealers could try. The package included a movie poster also.
======================
Original posted June 29, 2020: Instead of the usual eight pages, the 1960 issue of Jeep News is limited to four pages. Still, there’s some interesting information inside.
First, the front page article on the movie to-be-release movie “Pepe” described the forty-jeep-gala ballet filmed in Las Brisas as spectacular. I tried to find some clips from Pepe online, but have yet to see any. The CJ-3B page does a good job describing the Gala’s role, along with a few pics, in Pepe: https://cj3b.info/Siblings/SurreyPepe.html.
Second, on page three the article about the Hy-Rail FCs contains a noticeable goof. The title refers to the FCs as “FC-170″s, while the pics and text correctly show them as FC-150s.
Third, there’s a good photo of an FC-170 flatbed with a Mobile Drill mounted on it, the first example of an FC with a mobile drill that I’ve seen and the latest reference to the sale of a Mobile Drill.
Fourth, the article on the Fresno Four Wheel Drive Club underscores why so many jeeps continue to emerge from the Fresno/Clovis area. As of December 1960, the family-friendly jeep club had more than 350 members, likely making it the largest jeep club in the US. The club even had a newsletter, which at that time was edited by Mr. Otto Traeber and called “Four Wheeler”; sound familiar? This newsletter was also shared with other jeep clubs. One year and two months later, in February of 1962, a new vehicle magazine was introduced to the public, published out of Southern California: Four Wheeler Magazine.
UPDATE: February 1960 Jeep News
UPDATE II: wilpenney brought up an important point. Page 2 of the Feb 1960 issue of Jeep News (shown at bottom) distinguishes between the “Ashtray”, with the semi-circle whirly part that includes cigarette holders, and the “Hostess Tray”, which lacks the semi-circle part. (Perhaps I am the only person who didn’t realize the difference — I was calling them both ashtrays?)
=========================
UPDATE: These two February 1960 documents reference the “Corner the Market” contest also referenced by the February 1960 issue of Jeep News, as well as the January 1960 issue and the April 1960 issue (I don’t have the March issue).

This issue of Willys News shows that Jeep dealers were experience continued growth. This issue also suggests that the ashtrays and cuff-tie-links were introduced in 1960. Anyone have the full page 1959 Nieman Marcus catalog ad of the newly introduced DJ-3A Surrey mentioned on the last page?
CJ-5 Dealer Letter
Toby purchased a 1966 CJ-5 from an original owner and found this letter inside the owners manual. Note the last paragraph (no coverage for squeak and rattles, lol).
Sept 1960 Ad and Merch Bulletin
I believe this is the first Advertising and Merchandise Bulletin that I have owned (or even seen). I bought several of these together on eBay. The particular one details the “600 series” of tri-fold brochures available during 1960 (which is one of those nagging issues I’ve always wondered about .. how many brochures were made). So, this answers that question. There were only 13 in that series.
When I get a chance, I’ll add links of images to this post.
1954 Warn Brochure
I spotted this Warn hub brochure out of Canada on eBay. It’s not I have documented. Its 1954 date makes it a fairly early one for the locking and automatic hub models.
This is the front of the brochure:
The is the back of the brochure:
If you open from the back, it reveals this page:
The this page opens horizontally again to reveal the interior three pages (8.5″ x 11″)
This is the back of the fully opened brochure.
1945 MobilOil Ads w/Jeeps on eBay
Here’s a second version of a 1945 Mobiloil ad featuring jeeps. This was part of a series of military-related ads buy Mobiloil in 1945 (see others here). I haven’t yet seen any other ones with jeeps in them.

The seller of this sign has listed it at $250, but will consider lower offers. It likely is the only one of its kind.

Farmcraft Limited Jeeps
Jan was kind enough to share this rare brochure from Farmcraft, LTD, another seller of refurbished WWII jeeps. I’ve seen the Burleigh in another ad from 1949, but the text (as best as I could read) did not mention Farmcraft. A Hemmings article shared a pic of the Burleigh, and mentioned Farmcraft. I suspect Farmcraft partnered with, bought out or evolved from Burleigh.
Germany’s Salzgitter’s Line of Jeeps
UPDATE II: Here’s another 1950 Salgittzer brochure from Germany, but it is only four pages. Thanks to Jan for sharing it! This makes three different 1950 brochures.
========================
July 12th UPDATE: I received both of the Salzgitter brochures I purchased out of Germany. The 1950 brochure is a version lacks several of the pages shown in the brochure at the very bottom. The 1949 brochure is a tiny (1/4 sheet-size) one-page brochure.
Perkins Willys Conversion Brochure
Jan out of the Netherlands shared this unique Perkins Brochure that highlights. I don’t have a date for it. I found one of these brochures for sale out of the UK and another one here, though it is priced higher. And, here is an M-38 for sale in the UK with that conversion.
March 1962 Hatari Jeep Brochure
After failing several times, I finally won a copy of this Hatari-themed jeep brochure. It is from number DM 62-03. Learn more about Hatari and Jeep at the CJ-3B page.
Here’s the front page of the brochure:
It opens horizontally to show this two page Hatari announcement:
It agains open up horizontally, both to the left and to the right, to reveal several different vehicles that appear in the movie, including a truck, a CJ-6, a wagon, and an FC-170.
On the back side of the brochure are some of the actors that appear in the movie:
1983 AMC Jeep Commercial .. Jeep as Bison
Maury shared this video from AMC Jeep. I was 18 when this came out in 1983. I’m sure I must have seen this on TV and I hazily remember the folks riding a bison, but don’t remember the full commercial.
Jeep-A-Trench & Compressor Postcards Ravenna, OH **SOLD**
UPDATE: **SOLD** Was $10.
Andy shared these two Willys-Overland postcards. They are both marked “1952”, which seems accurate.

1954 San Juan Scenic Jeep Tours Brochure
UPDATE: There’s another one of these brochures on eBay.

Original published March 20, 2023: This early version of the San Juan Scenic Jeep Tours brochure was pre-FCs. It was listed for sale on eBay at some point. Thankfully, the images were still available.
1943 Stewart-Warner Up-‘N-At ‘Em, Jeep Ad on eBay

New Toys and Brochures
A big thanks to Joe-in-Mesa, and wife Jan-in-Mesa, who found a couple toys and brochures at a great price while visiting the MVPA convention in Des Moines, Iowa, last week.
The Marx tin windup cowboy jeep has details that I haven’t seen on similar cowboy jeeps. I thought it was the best of the two, even though the windup spring doesn’t quite work.
The four-passenger Marx Jumpin’ Jeep in green and yellow is more familiar, with graphics in good shape as well.
I had neither of the two brochures they found, so that was a bonus (see the posts below)!
Here are more pics of both toys:
1950/1951 Willys Sedan Delivery Brochure Black/White
UPDATE: Thanks to Joe-in-Mesa, I obtained a yellow version of this same 1950/1951 brochure, though the form number (SD 73 M5 651-1CM the 651 may indicate this was published June of 1951) is different. The only difference between the two that I can see between this one and the brochure at the bottom is the color of the brochure (yellow).
Here is the front:
The brochure opens vertically to reveal this page:
and then the brochure opens horizontally to reveal this page:
Here’s the back fully opened:
================================
UPDATE: Originally posted March 3, 2021, this post was part of another post about similar brochures of the period.
Finally, one more, similar Willys Sedan Delivery brochure, only it’s not as large or as colorful as the others. In fact, I’d call it a black, gray and white brochure. It’s form number is SD-M3-73–50M. Given it doesn’t label the Hurricane engine as new, it’s probably later than the other brochures, maybe 1951.
1948? Willys-Overland Planadyne Postcard on eBay
I’ve not documented a Willys-Overland postcard promoting its Planadyne suspension.
Postcard of FC-Tour Jeep in “San Juans”
I just bought this postcard. It was mis-listed under “Jeeping on the San Juan Islands, Washington”. Now, Mt. Moran is a pretty good sized mountain (for the San Juan Islands), but pales in comparison to the San Juan Mountains in Colorado, where this photo was obviously taken. This is a 4×6 card and I’m hoping I can identify which tour jeep the is once I get the card. Given the red cage and red bar up the center, I’m leaning towards this being mine.
2 Early Brochures Biloxi, MS $15/each
Andy shared these ads. One is for a General Electric 200 Amp Arc Welder brochure and the other is for the Universal Jeep. Both appear to be from 1945.

McCain Hub Winch Brochure
I recently purchased a special equipment binder off ebay. Usually, there are a few interesting brochures inside. This time, it was full of these pink price sheets, like this:
However, thankfully, inside the book there was a second small booklet that did have some brochures, and a few interesting ones.
As an example, I’ve never run across this unusual 4-page McCain Hub Winch brochure.
